The most incredible thing about your recordings is not their technical skill, but their musical. Technical feats like these are extraordinary, but while many can play this fast, I've never heard pieces this rapid where the player is still able to maintain the piece's musicality. Often times people disregard musicality in order to show off their technical skill, or ruin the piece technically even though they play musically because they ignore the many technical subtleties. You do neither. Wonderful performance!
Thank you very much! Deeply appreciated. I absolutely agree. It is always a very fine line to find the good balance between showcasing the piece musically and fighting the urge to play everything faster for the sake of technique.
It's double tonguing. If starting to double to tongue from scratch, it takes usually at least a year to get it to consistent fast speed. To prepare this piece took maybe two months, but that's considering I would practice total no more than once or twice a week.
A disgusting display of technique. Sounds so great there is no sense in me learning it as the bar has been set. Practice, knowledge, and music all in one. Thank You.
Mike Vaccaro Ah, ok. Was just a bit surprised as I have never seen that used as a compliment. And dont worry, I don’t think anyone can play this piece as fast as him.
I just started playing clarinet this year. I am in sixth grade. Man, you are awesome!!!!! I mean, amazing. My family said us probably best clarinet player in the world . I play clarinet, my best friend, and 67 others. Clarinet is the best instrument of all time I believe.
This is madness!!! Awesome playing and insane control!!! I've played clarinet for about 25 years and this song is a BEAST to conquer. Excellent playing!!!
For me the most amazing part is how the registers sound so smooth, the chalmeau register sounds just as clear and divine as all the others and it boggles my mind.
I am 51 and haven't played clarinet since I was a teenager. This has inspired me to blow the dust of the Buffet and do some serious wood shedding. Totally wicked mean horn, man. Taking the clarinet up to the stratosphere, it's rightful abode.
Caprice #5 video Thanks! What an enjoyment to hear! Interesting to read the comments. It's difficult enough for those of us who teach and play to comprehend the skill and effort necessary you've aquired to achieve this level of mastery, but many of those listening have no clue as to what's involved.
I just became your 1000th subscriber after listening to this. I used to play clarinet when I was in high school... if that means anything, and I truly did love the instrument and sought after so many private lessons and performed a lot... but I guess I just kind of burnt out when I hit a brick wall in my playing. This is inspiring in so many different ways, I might just have to pick up my clarinet again. What reed and ligature are you using? I used to love Vandoren 3.5s, but I often found that I would have one or two usable reeds within the box so I had to stock up hard on them in order to have a set of 5 usable reeds just in case. And I loved the BG Revelation Ligature, but a few pros told me that my clarinet looked like it was favoring innovation over "what worked/sounded best", and I wanted to know your opinion on those ligatures.
I have to agree with Ricardo Morales...simply the best technique I have ever heard. I love it!!! Very musical and even with no gimmicks. Honest playing. I know this from my teacher.
Thank you Robert! I am going to make that video actually due to this request coming from many other people as well. I just need to fix my cameras, or borrow one from a friend and the video should appear in a month or so.
Don't you think it's kinda ignorant to say someone is the best without having heard all the other great players? There are other GREAT players out there....check out Ricardo Morales, Charles Neidich, Julian Bliss, and Milan Rericha, just to name a few. And then, all these great players can play this music, so what determines who the 'best' is? It's really a matter of opinion and taste.
I'm a few years late, but you played this so well that I felt that I felt like I could play this piece on clarinet....Then I remembered that I'm a flutist!
This is amazing! I've been playing clarinet for two years by now, and this is amazing tonguing, which really is the bane of my existence right now. However, since many etudes have that type of rapid octave shifting, i noticed that the clarinet notes played don't reflect the sheet music. Where did you find the clarinet version?? Thanks!! :)
I just feel like when music gets like this there's no reason for me to try, this song doesn't get stuck in my head. I prefer music that I like to hear and play vs music that is hard and I don't like the sound of.
The clarinet version of rap God
i can play this on my clarinet
😂😂
No this was meant for the violin
😅

Idk I don't get or read any musicality from this "rap beat" piece.
Martin Fröst eat your heart out! Amazing, amazing performance!
@@goalexey Holy Cow! Clarific & Clartastic!

Can you remind me what breathing is?
It’s called circular breathing
I think that’s your best bet at surviving this monstrosity

Mike Vaccaro why do you use disgusting? are you saying something negative or using it as a compliment?
A big compliment. @@kartiknagaraj5762
a little sarcasm I guess because I can't play that fast.
Mike Vaccaro Ah, ok. Was just a bit surprised as I have never seen that used as a compliment. And dont worry, I don’t think anyone can play this piece as fast as him.
As fast or as beautiful. Great musicianship there.
I am crying tears of joy and yet I feel scared. I think I changing my instrument to the triangle.
😅❤

I played clarinet for about 20 years and I had no idea that such music was even composed let alone played. Truly unbelievable.
bro if they could but this on a all state sololist it would be a level 7 which isnt even a level thats how hard this is
actually this caprice is for solo violin. but can be played on many other instruments
For me the most amazing part is how the registers sound so smooth, the chalmeau register sounds just as clear and divine as all the others and it boggles my mind.
No crying, please. Only Smiling!! :)
goalexey Hey if your still on UA-cam can you tell me how to get good sounding high notes and a nicer
Tone on them
...woahh....it made a smiley face at the end! 2:33
More of a frowny face, but yeah
Simply amazingly virtuosic playing and so musical at the same time! Bravo!
Thanks a lot George!...by the way - you are the 666th subscriber! :)
You know my eyes got tired following the notes in real time. Can't imagine playing it.
Wait wait wait wat no hold up what so are you circular breathing whilst double tunging
Francis Four naw that's nearly impossible youd probs sneak bits of air from time to time
@@yama-ic2dh look up pedrosaxo playing this, he circular breaths and double tounges at the same time
He def pauses at times where there's no rest (tho it works musically imho)
Невероятное количество труда и самоотдачи! Аплодисменты стоя!
Amazing double tonguing and very smooth technique - bravo!
I've never heard something so impressive! This is really amazing, bravo!

So perfect and beautiful.
The double tonguing though, unbelievable.

People say that violin is the hardest when it comes to anything
Me as a clarinet and flute player: Bitch please
same
but I play both violin n clarinet
This is so awesome especially since i am playing the clarinet in my school band!
Mariana Arias-Bush ㅑ
You are the absolut BEST classical clarinette player on this planet.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Simply amazing!
Good Lord... admiration, wonder, disgust and grief all at the same time - Too confusing a feeling to sustain in comfort. Bravo

as a seventh grade clarinetist who has been playing for three and a half years this is amazing what the heck
I can’t comprehend how freaking fast this is
put this at 1.5 speed. ur welcome
PRPOV 2x speed
SuperReeseP at 2x speed it sounds like Pac-man 😂
Well, it is WAY more interesting at .25x ;)
still difficult at .25x
I prefer .75 it allows you to hear more details when listening especially when wearing headphones.

OMG we just had Jack Glatzer play most of the Paganini caprices at our school, and I was looking to play this on my clarinet. You're awesome!
