im like 99% sure she didn't sightread it. The videos are scripted so she probably already knew how to play it beforehand. Not that that isn't impressive, I'm just pretty certain she didn't sight read it. it's pretty obvious actually when you realize there isn't even sheet music in front of her when she is demonstrating.

How is this possible tho...it's actually unbelievable!! Made me realise just how incredible Hilary Hahn is: her technical skill is clearly brilliant and the fact she still managed to convey a lot of musicality in this piece and avoid it sounding like an exercise 👌

I could just picture Nathan Milstein’s impish grin, generously heaping praise in his inimitable Odessa drawl. He appreciated a good bit of fun, and this recording captures the fun in Milstein’s idea.
Yeah, it's really difficult to play any four notes simultaneously. It helps, though, that of these four notes only one is fingered and the rest are open.
This piece can work musically if it is played really slowly and with a shed load of imagination you can begin to convince yourself that you can play the violin.

Yes, if you use the bow near the fingerboard you can play 3 notes at the same time, if you want to add one more note you have to rotate the bow
