    Thank you so much for recognizing Michael Collins. His role was so vital, but it was also terrifying. Aboard the command module, while orbiting the moon, there would a period of communication blackout, and he would be TOTALLY alone because he couldn't even contact the people back in Earth.

    when you said Laika passed away, i saluted in honor of (possibly) the most famous dog besides Snoopy. and while I was watching the video I would look up some of the events online and get more info on them. and: do you think naming a chimpanzee Ham is kind of funny? i smile thinking about it.
    in other words: GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes, I believe/understand that we went. I've seen the hardware up close. I've touched a moon rock. But the difficulty NASA has had getting back sure makes it easier to buy into the idea we never could.

      Technology is supposed to get easier and cheaper which doesn't happen with the Moon Journeys

    • @spacecowboy5274
      @spacecowboy5274 Рік тому

      @@cherkas009 This usually happens to technology that is in high demand
      thats why computers,medical technology all these improved so much
      there is very less demand for a moon landing,so that didnt improve
      meanwhile the demand for orbital rockets has been increasing,and today we are seeing new innovative rocket designs like falcon 9,electron,neutron,starship,terran etc...
      and there are plans for manned lunar landing and making lunar bases on the moon in NASA's artemis missions.The SLS and starship rocket will have their maiden flight soon.

    • @cherkas009
      @cherkas009 Рік тому

      @@spacecowboy5274 but the computer power has exponentially improved so it should be easier cheaper compared with the computers they had back then

    • @spacecowboy5274
      @spacecowboy5274 Рік тому +1

      @@cherkas009 computing power is not a major limiting factor,they occupy relatively small mass of the rocket
      and simulations could be done back then by hand-calculator calculations and by using wind tunnel and other manual methods
      the rocket engineering itself has barely seen any improvement,the rocket engine ISP's or thrust have not seen much improvement
      reusability is one big improvement that happened but there are no operational reusable rockets that has enough power to send someone to moon and return them
      maybe starship might be able to bring the much needed improvement in modern rocket technology but that is still under development
      There is also a lack of funding and political will
      back then usa wanted to beat the ussr so kennedy increased nasa funding a lot and congress agreed
      today there is no competitor directely challenging them
      so politicians seem uninterested and hence less funding
      also in the current artemis program parts are made all over the USA and europe, this leads to compatibility and transport issues
      add to this the government bureaucracy and u get several delays and cost overruns
