Awesome!! I've been a Blacksmith for 30+ years including for the National Park Service as a restoration and recreation specialist. I was trained for making hardware of all kinds. I love seeing young people involved in the craft and making money as well. I hope he has a great future!!
It was so nice to see .... I'm a retired Paramedic.... I have seen so much evil, pain, suffering and just plain laziness that I am at a low point when it comes to believing in the future of our country... This young man was something I really needed...
Steve, I heard you say you had an anvil and a hammer and that was your limit. Most blacksmiths that have that say that’s a start! Nice tour, nice young man! I’ll bet he goes far in a satisfying life! Keep up the encouragement!
A feller in Nebraska City, Nebraska has the Little Giant Power Hammer Company. Harlan "Sid" Sudemeyer. Has most parts you would ever need for a Little Giant. Helps out with power hammer rebuilding classes! Be careful, he used to pull mini rod pulling tractors, and he belted up a blown alcohol small block Chevy engine to one of his power hammers. The safety nazzis had heart attacks!! The same people that get all butt hurt about anvil shooting. Guessing they wear a mask while traveling alone in their Prius.
Pretty cool. I am the 4th generation to own my particular blacksmithing set-up. I haven't operated it in some time, after moving into a new shop. This might have whetted my appetite just enough to get off my ass and get set up again. Of course being in Georgia, its mostly a Winter sport. Thank you for sharing, Steve.
Steve what a cool young man! I started welding in VO-AG in high school and did it for almost 30 years and loved every minute of it. Still do some for myself and the neighbors.
Some where in the past there was an Old man that loved him ,and showed him a lot of blacksmithing tricks . Good job, thank you for taking us along, just found your site.. I subscribed and rang the bell ? See Ya Texas
Thanks for that INFO.. I have to go back in the next couple of days to pick up the little giant hammer, I'm going to film some of the items he has for sale also and I'll ask him about that...
Why thank you.. I do a little bit of everything around here. Hope it pleases you :) Speaking of the Seeker .. I am loading up the bus right now for a trip back to see it in the water on Saturday afternoon!
There is no motor on the machine now. IT has a motor mount down on the bottom but I am thinking of putting the motor up closer to the large pully. Little Giant has a kit to move the motor up there so you can use regular v belts instead of the leather belts. I am going to put a 1.5 single phase motor on it...
@@10swatkins my bad 😔 I will have to go back and watch it completely. I just spend more time in the shop and don't use this that often. Usually let the wife use it. We just have a cellphone no computer.
That's awesome seeing a young fella pursue his passion. there is hope for the next generation after all.
👍
Smart boy knows what he wants to do n doing it. No $200,000 debt for college.Likes what he does too.

Can't wait to see you forging straight edges with your new power hammer. :-)
I think you have been sniffing the air around the distilleries too long :) Power hammers and straightedges shall never mix!
That’s a good one Brian!!!

@@10swatkins Nice! Yea, they're a bit notorious in the toolmaking world. Notorious in a good way, they're a great couple of guys
Was his dad his teacher or just what got such a young man involved in this type of work. I can't see it drawing many people in to learn a dying trade
I am going to see him again and will ask him... My wife had the same questions :)
The sv seeker vids introduced me to your channel this video got my sub.

I looked at his rack and was also impressed :)
A great shop, did you buy the power hammer?
Working on it :)
You might not want to know just yet. Might be another loafering fit coming on for you! Out of necessity!
Yes I am buying the hammer
@@10swatkins Don may be gone again when you get back.
Does the hammer run on one-phase or three-phase power?

Kids shop is a disaster. I have a 5 and 6 year old it reminds me of the living room on a Sunday.
How much should I pay for a used vintage powerhammer?
They are expensive... I think I paid about 4800 for one in good shape... Hard to find too.,
@@10swatkins i am willing to work my butt off to save and get one. I am starting out and want to do this right.
Please post his info so I could buy hammer's from him.
