    Nice video! I've been interested in buying one of those FalconEyes flex light to pair up with my Godox SL60. I'll try the route to building one by myself and if I don't succeed...well, I'll give the RX18TD a try.

    Thanks so much for the review! I actually recently purchased an 18TD, but I'm having an issue that likely has an easy answer, but I'm still pretty new to lighting/mounts/adapters (among many other things)...So, my question is that the adapter (the 90 degree bending arm) that comes with this, is very solid, but also pretty bulky. Not a big deal if on a Tripod, but I noticed when I try to use it on my Neewer Wall Mount, it creates a lot of torque on my arms, so I have to really overtighten them to make it work...Is there something that you could recommend (like a type of ball mount) that would work with this? I've been looking all over, and I'm sure I'm missing something obvious, but nothing I am looking at, looks like it would work, as it doesn't seem to have a way to make one work? Any thoughts on that? Thanks again, and hope that wasn't overly confusing, lol.

    Thanks for the video! Do you have any thoughts on the dome modifier vs. the rectangular one? Which would provide softer light?

    • @atdavidlee
      @atdavidlee  3 роки тому

      Usually the domes provide softer light since there’s more distance between the COB and where light hits the diffusion 👍

    • @BackpackingVideos
      @BackpackingVideos 3 роки тому

      @@atdavidlee Thanks. I'll have to pull out the tent diffuser and finally assemble it! Question: Is it either/or, or can you add the tent diffuser on top of the rectangular flat diffuser?

    • @atdavidlee
      @atdavidlee  3 роки тому +1

      Good question, I actually have not tried it haha you might run into some issues getting it all assembled but it might work!

      @@atdavidlee I may give this a try! I actually have the 12T but I am thinking about getting the 18T or 18TD. I tried a Godox SL-60W with softbox, but I'm afraid it's too big for my YT setup. Do you think that this light is soft enough to be used as a key compared to a typical 120D or Godox SL-60W with big softbox?

    • @atdavidlee
      @atdavidlee  3 роки тому

      The light can be soft enough but you’ll need to trial and error it to get the right amount of softness. You might need another layer of diffusion over it like a 4x4 1/4 grid you can just wrap around it in no fancy way

  • @SanderStreams

    Hey David! How bright is this light set to 1%? I currently have the Godox FL100, but I find the lowest setting still too bright.
    I mostly use it near my desk while streaming (90cm away), and with the Godox FL100 set to the lowest, I feel like I have to squint my eyes slightly. Is it the same with this one?

    • @atdavidlee
      @atdavidlee  9 місяців тому

      it would be the same if you're in a pitch dark (or almost) room for a streaming setup. The diffusion it comes with is around a 1/4 grid so it's not very thick. Great if you need a lot of output and slightly softer light. You could try getting some cheap diffusion material and taping it over your current light to soften it and thus reducing the output.

  • @lovefirst6157
    @lovefirst6157 3 роки тому +1

    I mainly use softlight and I also travel a lot. Would you say this is a better buy than buying a cob light with a softbox. Also is the 18td brighter than 18t or is it the other way around

    • @atdavidlee
      @atdavidlee  3 роки тому

      I would say for travel I’d rather take the 18TD because it’s much smaller both in size and the carrying case (if you’re a one man band). It doesn’t have the same punch as a 300D II or similar but those are larger lights once you put the soft box on it so there’s pros and cons. I’m not sure about the 18T as I don’t have it but typically single color lights have more output than bi color lights 👍👍

    • @lovefirst6157
      @lovefirst6157 3 роки тому

      @@atdavidlee Thank you so much. So would you say the falconeyes 18td is a good light to use as a key light in terms of filming like short films, music videos etc. You can't put the light to close sometimes so is it bright enough for those situations.

    • @atdavidlee
      @atdavidlee  3 роки тому

      I would definitely say it’s a solid light as a key light. You can use the modifier it comes with or push it through more diffusion if you like. There’s lots of ways to configure it for a key light 👍👍
