    This is the sort of review I really appreciate. You didn't just spout a bunch of nonsense about the specs or ratings that don't matter much. You actually showed how the light could be used in different situations. Well done.

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  4 роки тому

      Cheers Ryan! We figured since those spec reviews already exist, we would show how it can be used in a real filmmaking situation. We actually just used this light as a key on our latest film (soon to be realised). We can't recommend it enough!

    I've always loved shooting quick and lighting for the entire scene, 360 as it is sometimes called. Looks like the flex light is great to achieve that. Great, practical review guys!

    Simply brilliant! This makes amply clear how and why flex lights need to be used. One question - do you recommend using a LED flex light against an LED panel as a simple key light for a small space? Anything that works against the Flex with this use case?

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  2 роки тому +1

      I think for the price, you could certainly get a brighter light. But, honestly, the adaptability of this flex panel is what makes it so great. The fact you can tape it to a wall, or hang it from a picture frame hook, makes it worth the money. If you did need a STRONG light, an LED panel wouldn't be the go-to anyway. You'd wanna go for an HMI or Cob-style light. They provide a lot more power.

    Awesome light and awesome review, i'm very tempted! Do you happen to know if the output of the light is comparable to a 120d mark 1?

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  4 роки тому

      I don't know the exact numbers, but you will get a higher output from the 120d, but the flex panel will give you a larger soft source out of the box. Using a 120d with there dome will give you a similar light source, so it just depends on your budget.

    I have the 24 TDX, great light. However I find fo smaller things like the briefcase, you'd be better off using a light wand like 360 YN, a falcon eyes F7, or any battery powered light

  • @incendiesproductions
    @incendiesproductions 4 роки тому

    BTW, are there any plans on doing a video on that Astora LED panel at some point? I'm more interested in the capabilities of the Falcon Eyes (and some of its competing flex lights like the Soonwell FB-21), but I can't seem to find very many videos on the Astora. Would love to hear your thoughts on that piece of equipment!

    • @TheFilmLook
      @TheFilmLook  4 роки тому +1

      I don't think we will be making a review video about the Astora LED, but its a solid LED panel and is a lot more hard wearing than some others out there. The quality of the light compares to cheaper LED panels that are on the market, as this design of light has been around for a while now. I recon you could get something which is a lot cheaper than the Astora LED and have the same level of quality.

    • @incendiesproductions
      @incendiesproductions 4 роки тому

      The Film Look That makes plenty of sense! I was already eyeing the GVM 50RS as my eventual investment for an LED panel with barn doors, seems it’d be the smarter buy overall. Especially with its RGB capabilities!

    Hey Guys! Loved this and got one of my own! I had a question though. Do you notice the control box having a louder hum or buzz when you are at color temps in between 3000k and 5600k. I don’t use those temps very often but as I was dialing between them I noticed it and wondered if it was normal. Thanks!

    • @brettsmithphotography2463
      @brettsmithphotography2463 4 роки тому

      The Film Look No, I wouldn’t say it’s very obvious I noticed it because I was working on converting it to a gold Mount battery plate and was up close to it. I start to notice it when my head is about a foot away. It’s a high frequency sound and if you put your ear up to it you notice it a lot more. In testing it seems to subside the longer it’s been on. I just wanted to see if it was normal or something I did when switching the battery plate? Since you guys are the only ones I know that have one that made you the resident experts! 😁
