De Reef Site 11 is amazing. Green crab is the best bait .

Jim, the real secret to both tog and sea bass success in OC MD is the focus on reef building by Monty Hawkins and the Morning Star crew for decades of dropping cement structure to the bottom with private and corporate sponsorship. I wish DE would take a clue from the dramatic results they have produced

Is it weird I have never caught a black fish on crabs? I literally cannot and I can fish. I’ve always caught them on sand worms and clam is that weird?

Extremely weird. Tho I have heard they prefer soft baits in the early spring, if that’s where you’re fishing. Maybe you need a different spot, are you catching keeper sized tog?

Not anytime soon in Delaware....Spiny dogfish are thriving.

Spiny dogfish going extinct? They've never wet a line in jersey! they may soon be extirpated over seas. They're welcome to come relocate ours.

Funny thing with this British tabloid piece is the fact that while spiny dogfish numbers may be down in the UK, there is still a sustainable harvest for these @&^ers here in the U.S. which is probably where those spiny dogs tested in British fish & chips joints actually came from; legally and sustainably! -JH

@thefishermanmagazine hats off to them. I was considering using it for fish n chips but fishing them, while simple, can be a tangled pain in the ass. You gotta be careful handling them. And you gotta bleed em quick. Filletting is a pain and it reeks of piss. Then you gotta bathe those filets in vinegar or milk to get off the piss stank before you'd ever want to eat. The finished product ready to fry ain't bad, nor is the end result. It works but idk, it might be better just to use another fish. It's not like the yield is too crazy. It just ain't worth the effort in most cases.

Listen, any stocked waters such as freshwater license should be required. The ocean is not stocked by any meat by anybody you really wanna have a lot of fish stop the commercial fishing for two years watch what happens to the fishing OK the rotten real guy is the one who’s paying for it all anyway two taxes and what have you and keeping the economy alive? It is not the commercial fisherman at all. Commercial fisherman are actually ruining everything but the people that make the laws and the regulations or own trolling boats remember thatso it’s all government game, isn’t it?
