I played one of these recently when testing out an amp at my local store. Such an great feel and tone to it, I must have been there a good hour before I realised the time! The mark of a guitar I must own!
Just ordered one of these and can't wait for it to arrive! Direct mount pickups (no pickup rings) really is beautiful! Hardtail Charvels are my favorite as I never use the tremolo. Really enjoying the Charvels in combination with your playing and demos. Thanks!
I love the rolled fingerboard... That's part of what makes a Charvel a Charvel. Why don't they offer the 2 Point Non Locking Tremolo with this model... for those of us who prefer this over the Dinky. Thanks for the review!
Great review! Your playing and tone is killer! I think this video sealed the deal for me and I’m gonna pick one up. Looks to me like probably about the best guitar on the market if you only have 1k to spend. I’m usually a fender guy, but always have to replace pick ups. This comes with an awesome set of pickups, seems like a really great guitar for only 1k$
I distinctly remember watching this when it first came out and thinking to myself, having played for a few decades myself, this was the best sounding super strat I've ever heard. Well it took about 9 months but I finally got one myself. Anticipate I'll soon find out it is player and not the guitar :)
@john smith bad thing is I already have more guitars than I need and I don't even have enough time to play. Charvels, either Strat or Tele style, remind me of the late 80s when I was a kid, and hard rock and metal were kinda like the devil itself. But you couldn't help feeling attracted to it. Now I'm 45 and I'm still the same. Wife and 2 kids later, rocking blood still running through my veins.
Noticed this particular Charvel doing the cameo appearance. That pearl finish is killer pretty. Tell me though does it change colour as you go round corners?
I had to sell my gear at the beginning of covid. The guitar in question an American Standard strat. Back in the market for a new guitar. And considering this
Love the demo! I might get bot this and the black one, then switch the necks haha. I like Dark fretboards on White bodies and light on black bodies 😜🤟🏻🎸
I only cover the models I choose to buy. Charvel USA have never acknowledged me and the Marco Sofgi model has not been on my radar, so it's unlikely at this stage.
Great demo Brett! You really do these guitars justice. I’m a bit torn between the San dimas HSS and the HH(JB/59) version. Do you have a preference in one vs the other? Any pros or cons to be mindful of ? Thanks, Dan
Hey Brett, solid demo. You shred these charvels so hard. Sorry if a silly Question but I’ve seen you demo San Dimas models with a maple fretboard and with Rosewood? do you find one particularly smoother and easier to glide across as you play and/or just have a general preference on one? Would love to hear your opinion. Thanks
It should, I guess. There's definitely something about the sustain and 'trueness' of hardtails like this. There's no 'ghost' ringing from springs either, which is welcome.
@@BrettKingman Just asking, as I had my eye on one and it sold before I had the chance. This model is kinda rare here, but super cool. Its sounds unreal in your hands mate. Cheers
@@jeremyjohnston592 I'm guessing you mean Port Mac? Nah, not me. This one was just sitting in the Fender warehouse - I couldn't believe it because they usually go in hours. Still, it's worth backordering one if you can wait. Cheers and thanks for the kind words, Jeremy.
Love my Charvels...best guitar I have ever owned...best investment Fender has ever done...might as well buy a superior product when your own crap is slipping, huh Fender?.. lol
50W 5150 Blue Channel through a 5150 (5153 in the Axe Firmware) cabinet. No, the preset hasn't been put up but I will do that today and leave the link here for you.
@@BrettKingman Thanks. Just for kicks I'm going to put a PRS Fiore to the test with the preset to see how the PRS SSH compares. I honestly had zero desire for a Charvel, but the guitar in use with the preset sounded killer. I may have to reconsider that brand.

That "Brown" Tone is AMAZING :)
What a great demonstration! Everything I wanted to hear from the guitar, you played it! 😁

Man, that guitar gets a lot of 80's sounds I'm looking for. Great review!
What a dream machine. Hss in all it's glory. Beautiful review.
That sounds amazing! Any chance you can post the pickup heights?
This is the first Charvel Ive ever own. Its actually amazing and I am really suprised.
Love all your charvel guitars and this axe is a welcome addition!🎸🙂👍
Got the seal of approval at 5:02. Amazing guitar - especially for the money.
i have had this guitar for a few months. great all around.
Oh Brett another charvel ! Very nice ! Sounds killer and the look makes me drool like a dingo at a butcher's
HELL YEAH...EXCELLENT!!!
Looking for this guitar, but the version with the FLOYD ROSE vibrato.
I love the rolled fingerboard... That's part of what makes a Charvel a Charvel. Why don't they offer the 2 Point Non Locking Tremolo with this model... for those of us who prefer this over the Dinky. Thanks for the review!

Perfect demo. Another guitar sold!

I just picked up a used one at Guitar Center for $650! Love the hardtail. Great demo & spot on review!
Bought one of these last week, killer guitar for c.£700, very pleased
Thank you so much for the awesome demo
Thanks for watching!
Sounds great Brett!!
Just bought one thanks to you!
Must be a very versatile machine
Fantastic playing. My local store has one. Ty for review.
Same. Might go get it tomorrow 😅
Just subscribed. Really enjoy your videos and I’m also a big Charvel fan!! Cheers mate!! 👍
My next guitar for sure. What I like most about it is it's hard tailed string through body. That's rare for a hot rodded Strat.
wouaoooh !!! you make this guitar sound so great
I love it!
Sounds good👌🏻
Love me a Charvel

What do you think of the guitar? It sounds amazing on this demo. I am thinking about purchasing one too.
@@billyboy1872 great guitar, wish I could play like Brett! Great value if you can find one on sale or on the second-hand market. Good luck!
Not even Charvel anymore! Found this out by researching for a part for my bass! They were acquired by Fender in 2002!
They were only Charvel from 1974 to 78 in reality. Several owners since then. Thankfully Fender have increased the quality control. Great guitars now.
Wow you’re on it 😂
Thanks!

I checked online, looks like the middle position is the outer HB and the neck pickup.
Position 3 Is not the middle pickup ... But the neck with the bridge outer coil . Do you have changed the roller nut with graphite?
Saddle has the standard "Grub Screws".... It's a "little Rippar" ~ cool beans.
Hi i know im too late , but do you prefer this white maple fingerboard or the Sassafras with ebony ? Both are HT models. Greetings from Brazil.🇧🇷
Are you doing more Charvel Guitars... Curious if you can get your hands on the Marco Sofgi guitar
I only cover the models I choose to buy. Charvel USA have never acknowledged me and the Marco Sofgi model has not been on my radar, so it's unlikely at this stage.
Style 1 nice guitar
I`m buying one! Helluva alot of guitar for the money.

This guitar looks and sounds so good! Is the body an exact strat shape, or are there subtle differences between the Fender shape?
neck is slightly thinner than a standard strat
The middle Position is not the middle singlecoil. Its the bridge and necksinglecoil, like a Tele
Burgs, does more timber and less springs add more/ change the tone in an obvious fashion? thanks

Hi Brett,if you have any clout with Charvel guitars please please ask them to do this exact model left handed.
Hey Brett. Did you happen to get this from a particular retailer on the NSW Coast, that does alot of online sales?
No, I have a friend who works at Fender as Artist Relations. I buy directly from Fender Australia.

@@BrettKingman Yeah, I did mean Port Mac. I'll definitely consider ordering one. I'm so jealous!! Enjoy
Do you prefer this one or the sassafras? Or are they basically identical so just pick your colour?
I have this exact guitar and the single coils are noisey unless I am touching metal
I got one of these as a gift . I'm having a problem keeping it in tune . Any suggestions ?
Sometimes Charvels sound strattier than a Strat
The start tones from this sexy beast are incredible.
@@johnsmith-ug5tp yeah right!!
For playing pink floyd and jimi hendrix this guitar is good ?
Cant decide between a pearl or blizzard white...

The Brit Brown amp model in the current Axe firmware. Basically an angry Marshall SLP.
@@BrettKingman What amp? Kemper?
@@BrettKingman ‘angry’ Marshall 😆
@@Hotitalianman No, Axe FX III. I thought I made that clear during the video.

Price?
This or the new Player Plus Strat? Anyone?
Do you prefer this or the black satin with rosewood board?
Do you mean the sassafras with ebony board? If so, I go for that one, yes. Although they're both on the road with me. Great guitars.
@@BrettKingman thanks Brett. You are a killer player brother.
