@GregH-bf2mlFine, then they need to pay taxes as ADULTS...pay their own TUITION as ADULTS...and have the actual grades and test scores to matriculate into these schools...do that and no one will complain. This is way bigger than some dumb jocks getting paid to play a sport, but unfortunately a lot of the people that worship sports can't think above a certain level.
Isn't Thamel the same guy that was acting like advanced scouting was a big deal when it is a minor rule violation in order to attempt to disparage U.M. football program?
Is it me, or does $20 million seem awfully low to spread around a major university athletic department? That's like 700-800 kids. If you just spread it among Football and Mens & Womens Basketball, thats about $150k per player - which seems good until you consider that Caitlin Clark alone was probably worth $5-10 million on her own and it would mean no baseball player or track star or anyone else would be paid anything. What would Caleb Williams be paid? Or did I mis-understand that? A cap is a solid start of an idea, in theory it balances the haves with the have-nots - but the ceiling seems pretty low.
CC wouldn’t have been the highest paid either. Joe Burrow Lamar Jackson ( Johnny Manziel FOR SURE ) and etc were more popular than CC so it needs to be around 2 billion not 20m for sure
Easy, you reduce the number of kids you're paying out... non-revenue generating teams will be eliminated. Why pay swimmers, golfers and tennis players when you could use that money to pay football and basketball players more, which would allow you to bring in better players you'd otherwise lose because of having to pay non-revenue generating players. For most schools you'll have Football, Men's and Women's basketball, and Baseball. If Title IX holds, then you'll probably still have to keep Softball, Gymnastics and Women's Tennis and Golf, just so the scholarship numbers are equal to the men's sports.
This only makes sure that everyone gets paid, instead of just the better players 💯 But they have to cap it so parity still exists somewhat. THEY HAVE TO HAVE A CAP!!!!!!!
I went on a recruiting visit to west Virginia when pay white and Steve slaton was there.. lol they definitely was getting paid and smoked a whole lotta 🥦 lol they both had brand new suvs. lol
Bottom line is that it's "good" for the players but it aucks for CFB as a whole 💯
Can we get someone who’s against this perspective??? I haven’t seen anyone in media that’s against this.

Johnny Manziel's first NFL game was in 2014. I don't see how A&M could pay him.
All this means is players that were not getting anything in NIL will get paid too.
The fine citizens of the Los Angeles Metro area are finally getting a Bojangles.
Blessed be this glorious B1G country.

Who cares? Every school can pay. It's not like the old days where Bama and sc were paying players under the table. That was unfair.
