Great scrap buster pattern. So adorable!
My Grand daughter just graduated from University. When she was a little girl, we flew kites a lot at the Beach. For her first Apartment, I'm going to make this quilt for her. Easy (I hope) as flying a kite. Thank you Jenny, Heidi and Riley Blake. Sweet design.
I just love watching Jenny. Learning is easy and fun.
Or every other kite leave blank..oh the possibilities..so exciting!😍
Jenny you are so talented, we are so lucky to have you teach us.
This kite quilt is so adorable...
Cute! I think I'll make every other row blank so I can add tails of Rick-rack with bows...thanks Jenny!💕
Oh my goodness, what a great idea!
Love the quilt Jenny. I would’ve chosen a warmer white, gray or black fabric for the background, since the fabric is light in color, for your loosing your part of your kites since some of them are very light. For those who want to see those side points of the kite, use a thin strip of fabric between the kite blocks.
If you measure a half inch in from each corner edge before drawing the line between the two points made, you will have sufficient space to keep your points.
Your kindness shines brightly in this video 💗
LOVE IT! I decided to use some of my larger scraps for the kites. Have everything cut and I can't wait to get sewing. Thank you for a wonderful tutorial!
Oh yea .... a fun new quilt to make ... I can't wait ... I love it
I am learning so much from your that you have renewed my quilting bug! I have even bought a new machine. Thanks Jenny!
What a fun block!!!
This is so cute! You know, these kites would make a darling border as well! Thank you MSQC for another painless tutorial.
I think this would make a great I Spy quilt!
AT FIRST, I DID NOT THINK I WOULD LIKE THIS, BUT IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU JENNY
Encantador. Me encantan las cometas. Gracias Jenny.
I just Love this Quilt . I think the grand children will like one
Such a springy colored quilt. Makes me want to start one right now!!! And I think it would go together fast!
Thank you Jenny I just love love it! 💕💕
I always look forward to your videos! If I’m having a bad day, I can look forward to your fun, creative, stress relieving videos! Thank you for your beautiful work and even more, your sunshine personality!💖😀
i was looking thru the videos lat night for 2 adolescent quilts for my great grand daughters they are both under 2 so was looking for something they could grow into going to make wonky stars for 1 of them and now this for the other or do as others have suggested 1 kite which i love and then turn one into icecream comes !! thank you Jenny once again love this quilt
Omg jenny, your iron lifts up, I've never noticed that on any of your tutorials, lol, how cool 😎
Love this big cheery quilt. I'm going to check my layer cake stash and see what I have to make this one.
I love flying kites and if you look at a kite it doesn't really have points so this quilt is perfect!!
I love your tutorials. You make making a quilt so easy. I've done a couple of the jelly roll race for baby quilts and the moms love them.
I can't help but see snow cones or ice cream cones. If you change the colors and used beige on both the bottoms and colors on top it would look like ice cream cones. Or, made both the bottoms in like a check and both the tops in brights it would look like snow cones. LOL. Ice cream cones with cherries in the border would be cute for a picnic quilt.
You took the words right out of my mouth. Yep snow cones or ice cream cones. LOL
thank you im looking for 2 little girls quilts and i can do it with this one and not look the same !!
When I first saw it I thought red, white and blue for a great patriotic look.
Susan Sabin great idea!!
I saw ice cream cones as well. Thanx for the good idea of fabric color changes to make them look more like ice cream cones. Making them more like Snow cones are a good suggestion, thanx.
2 rows would be great for a tablerunner! Great tutorial, as usual! 💕
this is fantastic! what a whimsical, EASY quilt that even a beginner can make with confidence! you ROCK, MSQ!
Thank you Jenny. Great video and seems easy enough for even a true beginner like me can do it. :)
Jenny it is gorgeous - thank you so much for your tutorials which I always look forward too. Just an idea but we could add a tail to the kite and "offset" the blocks on the second row.
This is such a cute quit .
I loved this quilt before the tutorial started! The pastel line you used is really cute but I think I'm going to use brights that have a lot of yellow. Here I go again, queuing up the quilt patterns.
WOW..Joyce Anglin Miller....what a great idea !
Missouri star quilt company tutorials
well now that is darn cute. love the fabric so springy/ summer.
I love your bracelet!!
What an adorable quilt! Thank you for this tutorial
So cute and I love that it's not too fussy.
Love the pattern and the tutorial. Thanks Jenny.
The secret to not loosing your points is to cut a additional 1/4 inch to the large segment on the side that matches the short side.
Omg. Your a genius. Thankyou.
Headed to my machine to try this now😊😍👍🏽 Thanks so much for the tutorial 😍
Hi Jenny, I would like to ask if you have made a Chinese lantern quilt? Is it possible for you to do a tutorial on how to make one. I have seen a few, but you are the far most awesome teacher. Your techniques are so easy to follow. I have learned so much from you. Thank you for every thing you do and share with us. Blessings to you.🌹
Hi Cindy! Thank you so much for your suggestion. :)
Love it. Very beautiful.
Really cute....Love the fabric....Thank you as always
I can see an appliqué kite string with a few bows starting at the end of one of the kites which is off centre trailing across some of other kites. Of course the pattern is great just the way it is too. Thanks Jenny. 😁
Eloree Wilson I am thinking of using embroidery floss on some of the kites to replicate kite strings
Hi Eloree! That sounds like a fun addition to this pattern! We hope you have a chance to create it and share it with us! :)
Great picnic blanket. Thank you!
Love this!
Love this fun happy design!
What a cute quilt, have two grand son's that's going to Love this (when I get them done : ) ) Thanks again Jenny for another great quilt - Idea!.. Love your video's. YOur #1
LOVE it!!!
Cute. Made me think of ice cream cones. Thank you for another great tutorial.
you could use 2 drunkards Path blocks to get the ice cream on top of the cones
Jenny, my "math brain" works kinda like yours! Great tutorial! Love those kites!
what a happy little quilt, I can see ice cream cones also, thanks Jenny
That is adorable.
this might be nice with a background of blue sky fabric . 🤔👍🌺🌺🌺
Another great tutorial.... and a brand new block...........T.Y. Jenny
I LOVE THIS! THANK YOU JENNY FOR YOUR DEMONSTRATION. I have two grandsons two and three, and two daughters-in-law who are with child. I have sent this tutorial by sharing it with them. Two of them are a seamstress and might make their own. One is a doctor may not sew but maybe I can make this particular quilt in a smaller quilt for smaller beds or maybe baby quilts. This is such an adorable quilt I love "all" of the fabrics that you have used. I hope we might discuss how I could process this? Thank you!
Precioso. Gracias
I am going to try it using charms for a baby quilt.
Love the pattern! It’s also helpful if you could show what quilting design was used on the finished example along w/ showing the back. That really helps to think through the whole process of decisions when wanting to quilt it myself. Nice tutorial.
I see a potential quilt pattern that can be achieved by using the half square rectangle. That is one of the legs or half block in Storm At Sea! Just thought I'd throw that out there for Jenny. Sometimes we'll find something that happens by serendipity.
5 or 6 blocks in a row would make a great table runner!
If you made the hs rectangles in biscuit colours en instead of hs triangles you put 2 squares with snowballed tops on top, you could get ice cream cones!
A
While I was watching this I forgot that it was a kite. I kept thinking ice cream cone. I may try this with shades of brown for the bottom and sherbet colors for the top.
Dean Nadeau....This would make a great pattern for an ice-cream cone quilt....you would just round off the top. You could achieve that by finding a circle template, or using something with a round (half-round) shape! Great idea ! Love it.
Very cute for an baby blanket
Yes, I thought the same thing. Just playing with the math to see what would make sense.
So pretty.
Adorable
"losing the point" 12:00 is what I always had a question looking at the finished block on these videos and this video pointed that out so that was great.
losing the points and not being fussy is an OK thing (unless you like professional precision). Jenny 's way here is OK with me! 👍
that because she squared them up...if super accurate and dont square... you should get your points...
This would be awesome for using your scraps.
Lisa Synder, I was thinking the same thing! This would be a great quilt for going on a picnic or going to beach.....it's absolutely amazing!:)
Super tricks for construction, like the mismatched fabrics in each. Go fly a kite!
👏👏👏👏👏👍🌺🤗
Sew fun! ❤️
like this going to give it a try thanks
Cute quilt, though it seems more appropriate for a young person, so I would not make it this large since most kids don't have king size beds. I love the fabric for a little girl.
Super cute! I have a question, Jenny. I purchased some pre cuts in a "going steady" design with intent to make my mom a similarly themed lap quilt. What quilt block (with a tutorial) do you think best represents the 1950's or 1969's style? I'm thinking about poodle skirts, diners and the show, Happy Days. I'm still a beginner, so an easy retro block would be ideal. 😉. Thank you!!
Jenny l am really interested in knowing how you get the sewed pattern all over the quilt. Can it be done by hand or only by machine? I if it can be done could you perhaps do a tutorial showing how please??
Thank you in advance. Absolutely am inspired and love your tutorials!
Love the quilt. To make a baby quilt what square size would you use instead of the 10" , please.
Pauline, Australia
I love the quilt!! BTW...the supply link goes to the sewing machine pad supplies. What squaring tool did you use for the HSTs? Thanks!
Just makes a person smile. I now have to add this to my TO DO quilt list. My husband said Thanks Jenny! LOL.what is the square up tool you are using.
Very nice
If you flipped it over, you could make a sailboat.
Hi Judy! You could definitely do that. And Jenny has a super easy Sailboat Quilt tutorial that you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/o76gAwMKGbs/v-deo.html
yup... cut the points
Aqui no Brasil chamamos de pipa.
versions, variations...what if they were stack diagonally, what if there was less towards the bottom, what if it was to suggest a movement? variations to simple stacking in rows would help
I’m curious as to what you do with all the blocks you sew on the video?
What ruler are you using to square? This pattern is going to be so cute for my youngest granddaughter.
How nice is it, what thread is it used on the sewing machine?
So cute but i didn’t enjoy making it. After two blocks I passed on it. The point are hard the angle don’t line up all the time. I felt I washed fabric trying this pattern
Hi Jenny. Im wanting to know if u carry any candy material? Im making ur candy bags and looking for materials that kind of match the candy bags. My favorite so far has been double bubble bag with a matching fabric for the inside. I've made 20 so far and my daughter friends have bought every one. Help i need great material for the inside. Thank you and can't wait to hear from you
If you wanted to square your half triangle rectangles before seeing the kite together, are there any tips on how to do that?
What is the squaring up tool that you used. I need this. Thank you for all your videos. AWESOME.
Nice work . I like thet . We don't have fasilitys
How was the portable ironing board made?
What ruler is used to square up the 1/2 square blocks?
😻👋👋👋👋👋👋😽💋👋👋👋🌹
What kind of iron is that, please?
The iron is an Oliso.
Love my Oliso

thanks
is it really called a half square rectangle? That doesn't seem right but then I tried to say 'half rectangle triangle' out loud and it certainly doesn't slide off the tongue!
Rachel I've heard both terms used by different quilters
where did you get the smaller piece?? did you cut 2 10' square in half???
Where do we find the pattern please
