- What a GORGEOUS Foxbody we found at the Orlando Street Car Takeover event. Rocking a stock bottom end 5.3L, which was PACKED with juice - a 300shot fogger to be precise. Shoot, before too long, its going to be a rare oddity to find an old Foxbody that DOESN’T have a Chevy motor in it! We really don’t care what motor it is, as long as it goes fast and puts on a show!

It's called a --Stutter box, if you stay on it too long, you have fouled plugs, it delays the spark, but not the gas going into your engine. Old technology.

Nah, I've heard way too many stutter boxes in my time, the gas is to the floor, but the timing is held @ around 1500 RPM, when the break is let off the timing is sent to full advance, then the engine revs high.

I'm pushing 50..... and brand loyalty isn't new, but it seems to me that were here to watch a well built car run hard and fast. I dig fast cars of all kinds, and can't really speak bad of any. My current ride is a 38 Ford, with a 38 Pontiac body, and my first ever Chevy motor. Wheels up is a great way to spend a Saturday. Just saying, a job well done, is a job well done!

Let’s be honest here, he LS swapped because it’s cheap, not because it’s better. By this logic a McDonalds Big Mac would better then a Five Guys because “cheap”. That last clip is a testament to that. Cheap is Cheap for a reason, get a Ford.

I don't like seeing mixed brand engines like most people but these 5.3 Ls engines are definitely great engines to build, turbo, supercharged and nitrous if you're on a budget.

THIS CAR IS STILL FORD POWERED IN A COPIED GENERIC FORM. BY ALL MEANS THE LS IS A FORD MOTOR. THE LS IS A REGURGITATED 427 FORD HIGH RISER ENGINE WHICH WAS ACTUALLY A RAISED PORT 351 WINDSOR. NOT 11111111111111111 ONE ASPECT OF THE OLD SMALL BLOCK CHEVY LIVES IN THE LS. THE LS IS COMPLETELY FORD.

building a 302 windsor (5.0) is just as easy as building a LS motor, it's just the LS motor responds to upgrades a lot better. But then again the LS was never meant to be a rival to the 302W because they have been in Five oh's since 79 where as the LS wasn't in F body's until the late 90's. The 351w would be a better match up to the LS.

Chevy LS engines have the best HP per dollar, and old Malibus and Novas are getting hard to find, and expensive if you do find one. The fox bodies are still plentiful and cheap, so cheap body+cheap HP= fast car without spending a lot of money on your hobby.

There's a hell of a lot more in that car without touching it mechanically besides to KEEP THE FRONT END DOWN. UP is not FORWARD and it may "look cool" but it slows you down. If you have enough traction and power to pull the front wheels, you can move some weight forward. UP is also never CONSISTENT.

It is a stock bottom end. If you run the fuel mixture right, the stock pistons will be fine.

Mikel Bentley for the budget an lsx 4.8/5.3/6.0 is hard to beat for going fast and reliable on a budget . With Nos or turbo 800rwhp easy with stock bottom end with just $500 junkyard motor or would you rather pay $5,000(pullout engine from wreck 5.0) or $10,000+brand new for a coyote engine for damn near the same power output boosted. Also, if you wanna compare engines how about you compare a 2012 LS3 vs 2012 Coyote. LS3 wins hands down N/A and is cheaper to build. Just do your research dude. That's all.

if I'm not mistaken but isn't the LS motor very similar to Fords small block? I've even seen a video ( can't remember where) where a guy bolted a set of ls heads to a Ford small block. I think the intake and exhaust ports are different though
Bolting on (with modification), no one will ever make LS heads run on a ford, because too much shit will have to be done. But World Products does make a SBC block that runs LS heads.

I've heard before by some source the 1st gen 4.8/5.3/6.0 "LS" vortecs design was closely similar to the Ford modular motors. Saying they "stole their design". Not 100% but coil on plug for example Ford did first.
