Prelude Bach Cello Suite No 1 - as original as possible, standard A, modern bow

The earliest copy by Kellner, a friend of Bach, starts with 4 slurred, copied from Bach's original, the version I use here. The 4 slurred version had also been taken by copier "D" plus the first print, published by Norblin-Cotelle 1826.
Today most editions promote the bowing option starting with 3 slurred (as by copier "C"). This option is only 1 out of 4 of the original surviving manuscripts, by a copier who had never seen the original.
The only other version is Anna Magdalena, who for some reason wrote a very complicated bowing, which as far as I know has never been recorded as a viable practical option (for possible reasons see the Bach Talk • Bach Cello Suites Talk... ).
I never understood why the 4 slurred option used by 3 of the 5 early sources didn't become the popular one. The only reason I could find is, it's the easiest for beginners.
- In Bach's time string players used a Baroque bow. If you ever played one, they sound and feel different, in fact played on modern strings they don't develop their typical sound.
I recorded the Prelude here using an altered bow grip to our usual bow hold - the hand more inwards, but with a normal bow, and sounds very similar to the Baroque bow.
I use the Baroque bowings.

- At the age of 11 this Prelude was the first piece I ever transcribed, from my fathers edition for viola! For my birthday I had been given a LP of Cello Suite No 5 with Enrico Mainardi and was very excited about the suites. For my next birthday I received Mainardi's edition of the Cello Suites.
A decade later I received a scholarship to a masterclass with Enrico Mainardi in 1973, at Nideggen/Eifel/Germany.
