I run a Dakota Lithium 12v 23Ah battery on my 1222 and it holds up all day and the picture quality is very detailed as for jigs etc.. I truly believe Lithium batteries are the way to go for weight and power output 👌
Man.... That is good info. My unit is not doing as well as it did when I bought it and after several updates. Maybe that is my problem ! Thanks for sharing ! By the way, can you share what update version is working for you?
You've had the same problem as I've had. I am going to do my best to never update it again. Let me get the card out of my depth finder and I'll let you know which version it is.
@@gillikinsisland Thank you so much ! Do you have a google drive account or something similar that you could share that file? On Google Drive you can share it and send a link. I would love to try that version. I don't see that you can download older versions on Garmin's website. Just an idea if you wish too. Thanks for going to the trouble of finding the version. Do you have LVS32 or LVS34 transducer? 28.10 is the update for your GPSmap and GLS10 Livescope box. What version of software is on your GLS10 box? Tells you on your unit. Ty
I have the original, which I believe is the 32. I'd have to look at the software version on the black box. Are you looking for an older software version.
The voltage/battery type this is 100% myth and this is why. There is a current limiting circuit in the all the Gamin devices and it sole responsibility it to take anywhere from 9v to the 18v input it allows and turns into into a set voltage and amperages when passed to the actual electronics. The electronics have no idea the juice came from lithium or lead acid because 12v is 12v (or whatever voltage is being read). There is no varying voltage being passed as that would be detrimental to this stuff. The circuits on the circuit boards are paper thin metal and cannot stand varying input current and amperage.
@@gillikinsisland No argument about the weight for sure so think about this. One big 36v battery then use stepdown circuits to regulate the voltage to 12v. A good stepdown circuit is going to provide even cleaner power than direct connection to a 12v battery. I am going to try this this winter and put an oscilloscope on it all and compare. We have way to much money in all this stuff not to run it as good as can be. Tight lines!
@@lovethedogsNC Please let me know how that works out. I'd really like to know. You're right. We have way too much money invested. I am going to be in the poor house if I keep it up!

@eddies2661 I don't mind at all. My card is in my unit and it's at the shop. I have a bad connection somewhere. As soon as I get it back I'll send the files.

Awesome vid, I've heard the same thing from lots of folks about the update, NADA!
Thanks! I won't be updating again if I can help it.

@@Crappie_Hunter_Seeker what is your email address? I'll send you the drive. Are you running the 1222 non touch screen?
Great video my man!! Question what battery was being used in the middle? Lithium or lead?
They are all lithium batteries. They aren't cheap. I had buyers regret real bad, but they seem to be working well. I did lose a lot of battery weight.
Good video, Chip. I'm running an AGM battery. Did you notice if the reduced weight increased your speed?
It did increase my speed some, but my boat is super slow. It felt like my boat came out of the water faster.
Thank you. That video took me weeks to make.
So wait? What was the secret for the middle screen. Was that BEFORE the UPdate? Or after you figured out how to Force Update?
The middle screen was the old software. My view was so much better with the old software. The newer software seemed to narrow my field of view.
Good info. Thanks

I have a couple of friends that love those batteries.

Yes, it is. I love it. No washing required.

Sounds like you've studied this subject. I could not see a nig difference, but I did drop a lot of weight. I have find a silver lining somewhere.
