Guys, don't do that for every number, it is only for specific numbers. Look, for example, 82 x 47, when you do his way, it is 1614, but if you do it in the standard algorithm or FOIL or any other way, it is 3854(I even used a calculator). I am not trying to be mean but that way is only for specific numbers and not for all numbers, I suggest you should do FOIL on most 2-digit numbers multiplied by 2- digit numbers. Again, I am just suggesting it and I'm trying to not be mean or anything. And also for the 3-digit numbers multiplied by the 3-digit numbers, you should also use extended- FOIL.
