  • Hey everyone, after not playing ACNH in 2022, and after playing some other life sim game, I believe I have come to realization of why Animal Crossing New Horizons seems to be losing fans less than 3 year after release. Please sit back and watch me explain why this is the case. I hope you all enjoy.

      Kinda feels like Nintendo just gave up on it… I’ve never played Animal Crossing due to the only console I have but I want to play it. Knowing it’s not being updated anymore makes me not want to buy it and a Switch. What if bugs/glitches pop up? No updates to fix that will be coming…

    I really wished that Nintendo included more updates and more new content to Animal Crossing New Horizons instead of straight up abandoning it after the 2.0 update.

    I used to say City Folk was my favourite gam, but I realise now after playing New Horizons that New leaf really was. When i first had i, I played for age, which i did with New Horizons at first. Howeve, there would be months where I wouldn't play new leaf, but I'd always come back to it and play it for about 3 months straight as if it was brand new. Sure, I come back to new Horizons after about 4 or 5 months but i literally play for about 3 days and then don't touch it again for another 5 months. AC New Horizons added so many cool features, but it was at the expense of its old features, and as a consequence, it doesn't really feel like animal crossing anymore. The whole point of Animal crossing was to be a stimulation game where you could actully make friend connections and so you wouldn't feel lonely, hence why the original villiger dialogue was so good and set it apart from other games. New Horizons is removing animal crossings niche in the simulation game genre. It's embarrassing that if I look back and remember that I played Wild world more than i do new Horizons when you think about how little was in that game.
    If they weren't going to continue with updates to keep people interested with new features, they should've focused on bigger updates that would've fixed the main intrest of animal corssing as a franchise and sorted out the dialogue and online play, all the other mainline animal crossing games had very long lives with adding little to none dlc, and the reason was because while dlc is cool, animal crossing is so good of a concept that that it is sustainable without dlc due to the fact it is so different to any other simulation game in the market. And New Horizons butcherd that in order to make money through new features that would never last forever.

    For the amount of money Nintendo made from NH, the estimates didn't even include what people paid for for a Nintendo Internet plan, to play with Animal Crossing with their friends. They could be done so much more with NH

    I feel ACNH was worse than the previous versions because of the villagers. I remember in the older AC games the villagers being almost rude when you first meet them then as you get to know them you get nicer dialogue to the point you could get attached to the specific villager as it seemed they each had their own personalities. I agree that the dialogue is very lacking and the character development needed to be completely changed. In ACNH the only thing driving people to certain villagers was how they looked or personal attachment to the villagers in previous games. Character development is a huge factor in playability and longevity and ACNH is just bland in that factor

    The thing that worries me the most is seeing the Animal Crossing franchise turn into the Pokémon franchise. Where, because the games sell so well, they start to ignore player critiques, and just keep pumping out games regardless of quality because we keep buying them. Animal Crossing used to be a B-tier franchise for Nintendo, but now it’s one of their biggest money makers. I really hope that despite the insane growth in profit and popularity from Animal Crossing New Horizons, they will still listen to the fans and do their best to put out the best quality games they can.

    I was talking about Animal Crossing with a friend last night and I looked into some surface level info and remembered how Nintendo acts when they're working on something big (pattern recognition is the only thing I'm good at) and I'm 95% sure they're currently working on a new console and we can expect an announcement in September and a release mid next year and the AC team has made 2.0 the last major update and didn't get to add a whole lot because they've already began working on the next game for the new system which they typically like to release close to the release of a console so I'm just gonna ballpark and say Christmas 2025 for the next AC as I'm expecting them to use the same engine and pull a sort of City Folk again.
    This is all my own speculation with nothing to go off except Nintendo's pretty consistent track record but if my crippling autism is any indication then this should be the most likely scenario.

    • @WahooYahoo
      @WahooYahoo Рік тому

      As a fellow Autism myself ( albeit not diagnosed but at this point it’s pretty obvious ) I do and don’t agree . I do agree that there is a new game coming around especially with how the release timeline has been with NL to NH being the only unusual one with 7 years between them but that can be accounted for because of both the new console and The Splatoon Team helping with development . For consoles I honestly am both hopeful that they don’t release something new ( because I don’t have the money lol - ) and because I suspect this is a 3DS type situation. While the 2DS was because it was for younger kids I do believe that for The Switch it’ll most likely be something like a Switch Pro as let’s face it The OLED is really just a screen improvement and nothing like a pro console

    I think my biggest issue is that you can’t ever start a new island without buying a second switch. When I was a kid and did everything I wanted to do, I’d start a new town on a different save card. I’d still check my old town, but sometimes it’s nice to have a new save to relive the beginning or play around with different ideas. I’m almost done with my island, and was looking into a second save (I know it’s old news to everyone, I missed this on launch), and I can’t. I’m not going to delete 3 years of work on my island. I was going to build a castle island if I could have another save. So I’m most likely going to restart New Leaf or check out my DS save again. Oh well, sad to shelve a $60 title with no replayability or longevity put into it.

    You know what I find ironic is the fact that there were a couple of games in the recent Nintendo Direct that had Animal Crossing like themes such as terraforming and menu UI

  • @zeckma
    @zeckma Рік тому +10

    My first game was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, so that makes me have a slight bias. However, only have played New Horizons for about 5 weeks, I realized that it honestly didn't matter how much content was in the game--the fact is that the game is not sustainable in any way. I felt like New Horizon's focus is to have an end goal, the primary one is to basically be god and change everything about the island. In New Leaf, there doesn't feel like there is a goal besides completing Main Street. New Leaf didn't need goals, because the focus of the game is to live. There are just enough machinisms in the game to sustain itself. Not only this, but what Nintendo did with New Horizons, it ruined it at the very start. Games that were finished at the beginning for the most part have longer longevity. The free update scheme basically guaranteed that only have the players would stick around after half a year. New Leaf was finished at the very beginning and lasted a lot longer than New Horizons could ever hope to achieve.

      I have the exact same experience and reasoning behind why i just let go of new horizons in the end, It left me in a state of frustration and loneliness in the game, it felt devoid of the ''living'' aspect and felt like just windowdressing.

      That’s like all Nintendo channels. Apologist they all are. They think the N64 was a good console, they think the switch online DRM for old games is good as opposed to buying their retro games to keep and own like you can on the big dog consoles. Never pushing for harder difficulties for games like Zelda, Kirby etc to make the games more appealing to core game players. The lack of innovation in first party games outside of gimmick controls or peripherals. Absolute ass expansions or lack there of on successful games. The company has become modern Disney. They are hot trash

    I have to disagree on the front of that the game is "too easy to beat" because it really just boils down to your full control. You have the ability to make the game hard, you don't have to buy things with Nookazon, you don't have to buy amiibo cards, you don't have to instantly pay off your entire debt right away. You can get most things manually yourself. That also applies to time-skipping. Of course the game is gonna feel like it flew by really quickly and you get burned out in no time if you skip through what the game offers. This will not only prolong your playtime but it makes for very rewarding and interesting goals within the game. I'll also add that the comparisons to Minecraft and Terraria fall a little flat when you consider the fact that those games are mostly being played by PC people that have access to endless mods with endless possibilities so of course that's why most people are still talking about it. Those games would probably fall in popularity as ACNH did if they also had no modding support (at least of course you don't want to run through a billion steps emulating ACNH on an emulator, or modding your switch itself).
    I feel like this game gets a lot of scrutiny because people expect it to be the ULTIMATE Animal Crossing, but in reality it's just regular AC with the twist of being on a deserted island. Plus the idea people get thinking they're gonna be playing this game forever they'll surely be left disappointed. Every AC installment has done their own things and introduced new things to the table, every new one introducing more and more mechanics. I can only expect maybe the very next AC either being another regular AC with a gimmick or the true ultimate AC most people have been waiting for.
    I will agree though this game definitely had the potential to being the ultimate Animal Crossing experience, but unfortunately it seems NIntendo just dropped the ball on this one. However it's still a fascinating game and I can see myself replaying it several times if I ever get to the point of "what now?"

      I didnt hear the guy cry in the video.
      And I am pretty sure you just completley missed the point of the video. He was pointing out how Nintendo missed the opprotunity to make New Horizons last in popularity for years like other games have done like Stardew Valley. Instead New Horizons has already been left behind not even 3 years since release.
      And New Horizons "story" can be finished within a few days, and all that is left is just island decorating.
      People get bored of New Horizons way quicker than older entries because besides decorating, there really isnt that much left to do in the game.
      You can disagree with the dudes opioion all you want, but dont comment a lie that he was crying that there was nothing to do after beating the game when he said nothing of the sort. In the video he even said he liked the game, just that Nintendo misshandeled it and that they missed a golden opprotunity to make New Horizons playability and popularity last longer like other life sims games that have been able to last for many more years.
