    Having watched this series from the beginning and been increasingly impressed as you've posted successive installments, Gav, it seems that even though you've ruled out titles for yourself such as Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock, etc., there still remain fitting and appropriate candidates for a title that you could wear proudly. At this point, some combination of Master of Suspense, Worker of Miracles, Fearless Adventurer, and Gifted Humorist are all in the running.

      Thanks Noah. I am beginning to dabble in the arts of magic making. I doubt I'll ever reach the status of wizard but hopefully gain enough powers to conjure up the secret numbers for a lottery win. That bloody gearbox cost a bit to repair.

    Entertaining, informative, and easy step by step instruction for Dummies like me. This should be used by others who have Channels on UA-cam as an example of how to film and communicate without all the unnecessary Chatter and Rock music. Thanks Foreman.

    I am really enjoying the videos as I am going through the same process.
    One tip - you may be already aware, the clutch shaft has a cross hole which fixes the connecting tube - the angle of this cross hole relative to the fork is important and is specified in the service manual. I missed this and ended up having to remove the gearbox to correct it. See “Setting withdrawal shaft” in the manual.
    Keep up the great work and good luck.

      Yes I noticed the clutch fork issue. Maybe there's going to be flashback to his "mistake" segment???

      Crikey! Andy you have saved the day. I was not aware of what you have outlined and thanks for pointing that out so I can rectify the problem before it's too late. There are some huge advantages with displaying ones work on a public platform. There have been numerous cases where my audience has saved me from myself. Thanks.

      @@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures Mr Foreman - in addition to Andy's comment you need to set the rear face of the thrust bearing of the Clutch Release mechanism according to whether your vehicle is RHD or LHD...refer to the LR Series 1 Workshop Manual (which is available FOC online - see drive.google.com/file/d/1OG60XR0EzYlHG3_BzQqJFfRuaT0KIH2a/view) - Enjoy!

    Greetings from Switzerland !
    I always very much enjoy watching your restoration and travel videos ! 40 years ago I traveled all the US from East to West and North to South in a old Landrover 109 from 1960 .... great memories !
    And yesterday my "new" 50 year old serie II 88 LR just past successfully the Swiss vetrean car exam ... and now I'm mounting back all the stuff they didn't wanted to see on it ... they wouldn't even allow a steering wheel knob ;-) ... Fortunately, I was allowed to leave my mechanical winch installed ... as well as the rear hook as a exeption because I own a old small trailer too ... guess you don't need to deal with such problems over there :-)

    Great stuff Gav. I loved that you didn't edit out the press pushing on the planet earth. Saw that straight away and laughed when it lifted. BTW never press a new bearing in by pressing on the inner race, if it is tight it will damage the bearing as the load is passed through the surface of the balls. You need to find a big enough piece of tube so that you press against the outer only.
    But hey as an old landy owner and fan from Kiwi land I really love your videos.
    Cheers and thanks for sharing.

    • @ForemanAndWilmsAdventures
      @ForemanAndWilmsAdventures  3 роки тому

      Greetings David, my press idea was a little wonky. I agree with pressing the outer race of a bearing when being pushed into a housing but when pushing onto a shaft or when a shaft gets pressed in, I would think the opposite to be true. Say G'day to all your Kiwi folk down in the land of the long white cloud for me. It's a great place.

    • @davidfisher7440
      @davidfisher7440 3 роки тому

      @@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures Yes you are correct. Press on the outer for a housing and the inner for a shaft. It's just a matter of not pressing via the balls or rollers.

    I was distracted by the flyrod next to the press then my mind wondered off to warm late spring afternoons and grasshopers on Tantangra Creek, no wonder you can't concentrate, I'll have to rewatch the entire video now. Lovely job as always, we are still swearing at our gearbox.

    • @ForemanAndWilmsAdventures
      @ForemanAndWilmsAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      Oi there Steve! You can certainly be forgiven for your distractions of fly fishing the great outdoors. That rod you saw has cobwebs all over it and has seen little use. Extreme heat, savage drought and howling winds have made bass fishing a little slow. What challenges are you experiencing with your gearbox? And the electric conversion, is that still too costly? I can see many of us needing such a thing in the not too distant future.

      @@ForemanAndWilmsAdventures I have sold the electric project to a better healed mate of mine that has the cash required to do it, it is still happening but he is more easily distracted than me so it is slow, I will do an up the date episode when there is something to put up the date.

    Exciting!
    You, good sir, are an expositor of an assemblage of many deep secrets.
    You may not be able to leap over skyscrapers (in one bound, hard as it is to believe), however time and thyme again you surpass your previous prowesses by leaping over such orogenous insurmountable objects of wonder; such as Landrover g/boxes, both parts A and B!.
    This can mean only one thing; you have us all spellbound as we anticipate your next challenge; the case of bewilderment. The transfer case.

    Hello from QLD. I have been following this for a while but have seen little remarks about the engine. Didn’t this have a 3.5 in it? What’s the plans? I would imagine finding a IOE in NA would be hard.

    • @ForemanAndWilmsAdventures
      @ForemanAndWilmsAdventures  3 роки тому +1

      Greetings there Mr Element. The old chariot does indeed have a Rover 3.5 though I am seeking to downgrade. I have found a fellow who rebuilds GM 2.5 liter engines with all the adapters to fit a SWB series land rover. If that deal works out I reckon I'll take that route as it won't be too powerful for the transmission but will be better than the old original engines with the added bonus of an alternator. The fellow reckons it can do 70MPH and I may later install an overdrive. This is a possible spoiler so we'll have to keep this conversation a secret.
