    Worked on series 3, they had oil filled front hubs, also noticed you didn't mention transfer box at rear of gearbox, although if gearbox oil was fresh I would assume this would be good too.
    Good condition for year looked well aged underneath so would imagine fairly original.

      Looks like he missed the transfer box and front swivels and maybe air filter oil bath.

    How about brake fluid, clutch fluild and coolant. They need charging also.

      You’re right they probably do- maybe next time- with how clean the rest of the oils were I feel reassured leaving them for a bit 👌🏻

    Smart move putting on hoist as you tend to look at everything when you are under it. I bought my own hoist because of this. And that music is fine, people might not know about volume control if they complain. Thanks for making the time to make this.

    PTO output is a bonus; this explains the hand throttle.

    hi, great video. has the oil been changed in the air cleaner,? rust needs sorting all over the place, check around rear spring hangers and rear cross frame.i would also fill with new coolant and anti freeze, good luck,

    Good to see nothing too bad underneath - those tyres do look a bit dangerous though - be nice to coat underneath but I’m not sure how to care for the leaf springs as just painting them probably not ideal?

    Spay underneath with engine oil and diesel. Messy but do the sprngs and it’ll ride much better. Axles chassis under the tub everything.

    Hi Doc, nice video.
    The music isn’t that bad, & there’s only a few seconds of it.
    Was the oil changed in the transfer box & both front swivels too?
    Keep up the good work, Nigel.

    Unless you are going for a full stripdown and paint the chassis I would recomend lanoguard as it seems to soak into the surface rust then next time I checked it was gone.

    Chassis is in good condition. Needs a coat of Hammerite Kurust to neutralise the rust, then a covering of Corroless chassis paint from arc-rite. You can then follow this up with Dinitrol 3125HS and possibly some Dinitrol ML inside the box sections, job done. Great video as usual but I would scrap the horrendous sound track. Was that your choice? Better without and you voicing over the video instead, may just save someone slashing a main artery!

      😂😂 note taken on the audio- always hard to find license free music to accompany a bit of B roll. Great tips on the chassis thansk 👌🏻👌🏻

    You can cover the springs in old engine oil as a stop gap but as you say, it’s looking pretty decent.

    • @thedoctorsgarage
      @thedoctorsgarage  2 роки тому

      Good idea that- should have kept some of the oil!

    • @gavin6538
      @gavin6538 2 роки тому

      @@thedoctorsgarage why would you use old oil? you have a vehicle thats nice and clean underneath that will be covered in stinking black oil that you will be covered in each time you work on it.
      If you must use oil im sure you could find the cheap stuf in the supermarket.
      lanoguard goes a long way once your using it.
      It would also make a good video.

    • @James-eb8vf
      @James-eb8vf 2 роки тому

      @@thedoctorsgarage Mix some petrol and oil in a spray bottle and spray all the springs,the petrol helps the oils seep in through the leaf's which improves the function of them.
      Give them all a few coats and you really notice a difference when you drive it again.

    Drop the oil pan it will be full of sludge, I've worked on them for years.

  • @onetonlandrover
    @onetonlandrover 2 роки тому

    No surprise the back different oil was worse than the front as the back one does most of the work. Doesn't look too bad underneath but needs waxoil or similar to stave off the corrosion.

  • @hammyh1165
    @hammyh1165 2 роки тому

    Those tyres are shocking 🙈 , you can buy the same pattern tyres new again now to keep it original. They were unavailable for years.
    I'd definitely Lanoguard the chassis or repaint with Corroless paint.

    Maybe a long shot, currently restoring a 57 Landrover, trying to match a paint colour seems the same as yours. Do you know what shade of green it is? or what it is called....many thanks.
