That was because there was intense gpu competition that generation combined with major cpu stagnation. We've run out of moores law creating cheap upgrades, intense competition has caused the tech to be pushed really hard. Look at the early 2000s when CPUs were being released with the most cutting edge tech, a cpu was 500-1000$ for a higher tier one, gpus are in the same spot right now although it's much worse because of how big a gpu die is, a silicon wafer is 5x more expensive now than it was in 2014 and gpu dies are bigger than ever.
Well that 80% market share only takes into account steam numbers usually and does not take into account the xbox and playstation systems that often use AMD either. However, I also think it comes down to most of your pre built systems that come with more then integrated graphics will usually come with an Nvidia card which helps to inflate that number as most people buy rather then build either due to skill or time or age. That said Nvidia usually has the "fancy" features before AMD gets them and they make them proprietary too. So if two cards have similar rasterization performance and just about the same price it often makes more sense to go Nvidia for those extras, but when for the same power the Nvidia is a couple hundred dollars more and you can still count the number of games that would need the DLSS and Ray Tracing power you get from Nvidia on two hands it just makes more sense to go AMD and spend a bit less or the same amount and get a better rasterization but going a tier up with AMD.
The 3080 renewed on Amazon for 500$ is a steel considering its performance and Amazons 90 day return/refund policy. Bit going with nvidia = shiny raytracing and best upscaler on the market .. so yeah 87% market share. Rdna 3 could have been nice , but amd as per usual just released rdna3 broken.. and they are still fixing it to this day .. Maybe rdna 4 won't be broken at lunch
I'd say the only caveat is that a lot of developers are starting to use upscaling solutions like DLSS and FSR as a crutch for poor optimisation. With this in mind DLSS uses less headroom and gets a better result in visuals and performance in those titles. Also, RT is vastly more efficient on Nvidia cards compared to AMD. In terms of pure rasterisation though, AMD cards are always better value.
Should at least point out that it runs better or equal to without any advance settings turned on. But as soon as you turn them on your performance will tank.

Only 12.8% bottleneck, it isn't very bad.
Get a normal 5600
@@TheCasualGamer223 he should get something more powerful than the 5600x not something weaker it's the cpu that's bottlenecking thr gpu
@@youssefmahfoud5421 No it’s not that is a perfect combo the ryzen 5 5600 can go up to a 6800 xt
@@TheCasualGamer223I'm sure it can also do 4060ti and maybe 4070
Got my 6800xt for only $400 used. Will be using this for the next 5 years.
Weird how everybody ignores RT, Codecs and encoders when it comes to comparing AMD and Nvidia
AV1 is the future, nvenc will be history soon. Also it's funny how everyone ignores the flickering monitor issues with the 4090, hope you don't have more than 1 screen.
@@PineyJustice Havent had complaints from any of my clients yet so guess its not all too common of an issue. I did have however 2 replacements because of broken dies on a RX6800 and a RX6900. AV1 isnt all to good for quick encoding as its very compute intensive even with hardware assistance.
@@AlpineTheHusky 4090s have also had a lot of problems with the cores lifting pads on the pcb. Nvidia has had a lot of problems with multi monitor the last 2 gens, the cracked dies on RDNA2 was revealed to be due to resold mining cards, likely due to cleaning with water and not fully drying them. Dies don't crack under normal use on any card of any generation.
Most people don't care about those. The average gamer cares about performance and simplicity, and AMD beats Nvidia in both.
@@chloethebitch7780 Codecs do matter, for example with wireless VR, quest 3 has AV1 though so that will be the new standard.

that and previous amd driver issues that would seriously affect market share.
@@mik-ws3zwAs if Nvidia hasn't also had it's own fair share of driver related issues in the past.
Amd has their own equivalents that are almost as good
Upscaling/Frame gen isn’t going to make it preform better than the 7800 xt. The only thing your getting for the extra $100 is better rt performance, and probably better vr performance.
me when fsr and afmf
And no mentioning of driver stability, power consumption etc.
We want 4070 for the dlss frame generstion, an extra 100 or 200 is worth double the frames
Lol you really think dlss is everything? Fsr is closing in. (I have a 3050 btw so I'm not a fanboy)
for the 3 games that support it, yea
@jakob894It is supported by more relevant games and in a superior number than FRS frame generation
I had really nice 2 generation streak 970 to 2070 and the next step should've been the 4070, I still won't consider 7700XT as replacement because my SFF case can only handle 2 slot GPUs and for some reason all AMD cards are 2.5 to 3 slots
It sounds like a commercial from AMD 🤣

what you save in price with amd you spend in time troubleshooting the issues loll
@@Silkr0wvideos like this convinced me to get a 6750xt and now that I have it set up properly it works great, but let me tell you the amount of hours I had into troubleshooting the freezing and stuttering issues it had and a bunch of regret later, it wasn’t worth the trouble. That’s something I’ve never had issues with even with old nvidia gpus. One more thing worth mentioning, it still refuses to run starfield smoothly unless there’s been a driver update in the last couple weeks that I haven’t installed yet
This is fairly accurate but it’s probably not a good idea to make purchasing decisions off of a UA-cam short
@@Silkr0w Bruh i literally have a 6700 xt and haven't had a single crash since i got it ( a year and a half)
@femboygodblankkcu284 I geuss its different for everyone . My 6800 non xt was a pain, and my 4070 is great and uses less power for better pperformance ,and was not a pain time is money and I don't have time to mess with drivers.
7900 xt can be found for $650 today. I recomend it since you can get better than 4070 preformance with 20gb ram.
Your not paying for FPS your paying for full ray tracing and dlss support, don't pay attention to this unless your on a MAJOR budget, 2080ti's are still a solid pick up until the 50 series
What about drivers? AMD drivers are great
@@lateone12 compare it to NVIDIAs crap

@@lateone12 Agreed
tbh if your want to play with ray tracing you shouldnt buy 4070 if you want smooth experience. only 4080,4090 etc run new games with ray tracing ultra without problems.
Meh, I'm avoiding the 40 series entirely. Too many problems with it. 3080 Ti for ~300 on CL/FBM as soon as I'm sick of suffering my 6700XT. There's just too many things these days that require CUDA.

More expensive and much more power hungry
@@I_Jakob_I I saw ones for 380 bucks and they are extremely powerfull
4070 has 3080 performance and 4070 is a lot cheaper
Only the 4070 ti beats the 3090
Got my 3090 secondhand for $400 😅
Yes because I still use a 970 strix. Paid 350 euros for it. My 4790k was around 400. My PC was around 1500 my motherboard was 130. 16GB ram was around 120 at the time as well I believe. At least in my country. And If you wanted a high end PC with a 980TI you where expected to pay around 2K till 2100 or so. That's barely a mid range PC today.
Why is bro forgetting about used parts...
He didn’t
He didn't
It's region dependant. Where I live they're the same price and the rtx 4070 performes better in the games I play.
Amd is insanely better
I got my rtx 4070 brand new for £380 which is the equivelent of 470 dollars so there are bargians out there you just have to search carefully.
Where did you find one for £380?
Paying homage to Mr Yeester with how you’re reading the questions you get.
If you’re the kind of person who loves reliability this Nvidia and Amazon combo is amazing. I built a PC with the 3080 and I’m blown away, especially since I’m coming from using a 1650.
Indeed I moved from Nvidia rxt 30 series to RX 7800 XT OC. It's amazing 1440p gaming. And the software has great options ❤

3080 10gb used is also a great option. I got mine for ~$320
what they dont tell you is lacking all of Nvidia's AI features. was on team red for years and the minor raw performance boost doesnt go against the massive boosts from Nvidia's Ai shit
Power draw and efficiency is a good thing to think about for the 4070
I just got a 7800 XT I don’t recommend it. For some reason that I cannot figure out, it just stutters on most modern games.
Is it used or brand new ? And from where did u bought it ?
A quick question, why should I buy an expensive or midrange motherboard instead of a budget one?
Was gifted a 4K 120hz TV, currently rocking the 4070 and 5700x. What’s my best 4K upgrade at the best price?
Tweaking the graphic and GPU settings. Free and offers massive boost.

I still don’t know much about gpus but as far as I can tell NVIDIA really is the apple of the gpu market. But they reason why I keep on buying is because I don’t know if AMD has technology as widely available in every game like dlss for example that really helps as a 1440p gamer.
Very wattage, let's see Paul Allen's power consumption
600 a 70 tier card is nuts, I remember paying that for my gtx780

@cosmicgrim7963 yea but in my experience have a 970 melt from a starwars Battlefront driver, overpriced and having a 1070 since since 2016, the price change and tbh the better Driver System works for me and I also got a slightly more powerful gpu for £400 less and got the £100 starfield with it.. £400/£500 difference for slightly more power ez win
If live next to micro center (with is really rare) They are selling rx6950xt for $649 dollars
Yeap... i asked for radeon gpu. But my local shops showing me all green stocks available only.
Should at least point out that it runs better or equal to without any advance settings turned on. But as soon as you turn them on your performance will tank.
except amd has short driver support, use more power, have coil howling
I really like the look of the 4090 founders edition, but dont need that kind of power. are there budget gpus that look similar, or ways I could mod a gpu to look like a 4090?
What would be the best components to built a Pc for someone who does 3D model design? Lots of love from Brasil!❤
Nvidia best for 3d modeling
Only reason I have a nvidia gpu is cuz I always go for the best gpu and it's just 4090 rn can go for anything else
I've the following system:
- Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- RAM DDR 5, 6400 MHZ
- Asrock x670e pro rs
which GPU should I purchase next?
but atm 7800xt in my country price was so jack up atm it more expensive than 4070
funny thing is most of retailer will not change nvdia card price on web but if u call them and ask price will be cheaper than web
Worth a mention is the 3090 on the used market or the 3080ti
Likely gonna buy a new gpu soon, main options are 3080 12gb or 4060ti 16gb. (About the same price of 400 ± 30$ for used. 3080 is overall around 30-40% stronger, but 4060Ti has 4gb more vram, consumes less and is newer.)
Or spend more and buy 3080ti or 3090. (Around 460 ± 30$ and 650 ± 100$ respectively, for used). 3090 is ideal cuz of 24gb vram, but rly pricey.
(I am mostly doing 3d graphics, so amd gpus arent an option.)
I thought you said the phone has the same performance as the rtx 4070 😂
when i planned my new build i spent hours talking with users of amd and nvidia+intel side and yeah amd gpus come handy at a good price but brands like xfx have a poor building quality, + other amd users had issues of thermal and power drain, sto yeah i bought a i7 13700k(380€) and a MSI gaming slim 4070(600€), and i don't regret it
Would you say that the GeForce RTX 1080 good for PC budget gaming? Minecraft, battlefield 1, resident evil 4 remake?
I have a i9 11900kf and I'm considering upgrading my rtx 3060 to the rx 7800 xt,
