Words cannot express how much I can fucking relate to this song. Slash's incredible, legendary guitar work, paired with Chris Cornell's raw, distressed, beautiful voice...This entire album is just an amazing piece of art. It helped me get through alot of shit. So I would like to extend a hand to Slash...To simply say thank you. For alot of things.
Update: Sad to say but to those that don't know, on Wednesday May 17th, 2017, Chris Cornell former singer for audioslave and soundgarden has passed away. An amazing voice and singer!!! I hope that when you listen to this song you understand just how amazing his voice was and go out there and listen to more of his work to keep his memory alive. Rock on Chris!!! Wherever you are!
Me too. Even though his songs are generally quite deep and at times hard to interpret, I can connect with most of his songs. I think I've looped around 20 of his songs every opportunity I get since I heard of his passing. It's very sad.
Paul Jenkins, I agree. Chris or Scott Wyland, both perfect for Velvet Revolver. But i think Insane and Crazy Vicki K., Chris' wife would have greatly clashed. Slash can be straight forward and matter of fact when it comes to his music.
I always liked this song like in a rock&roll or hard rock way just for the music and melody, because I've didn't know too much english at that moment, and now after years that I haven't listened it I enjoyed again but in an absolute different way, cause now I understand the feelings that Chris is sending through. I promise you Chris to wherever you are, they will not put out my fire!
His voice? Thats the least of chris cornel . it was his mind his musical talent and gift to the world. He heard songs in his head. Music, lyrics and all, playing like a finished song on the radio. He didnt know where they came from, but they came. From his mind, thru the pen to paper. From the paper to his guitar and the song is given its life. Thats the magic of chris cornel. He gave his magic to the world for us to celebrate. ❤
"theres a handful of people in your life, no matter how long its been, you always have that connection....its always that same look in their eye...that was Chris." -Jerry Cantrell
Correct first verse Lyrics: The first time I ever saw you You had that far away look in your eyes And heaven's *light* shined down upon you And the whole room filled up with *life* Now the cruel world it's gonna try and change you Try to hang you up and mess with your pride Now the rich *man* just try to chain you (?) You got to keep your fire burning inside
God I miss this beautiful man with that amazing voice. that voice just cuts like a knife still so deep that it hurts my soul to know he’s gone & I’ll never get over the fact that I will never get the privilege again of seeing him perform.
He used to be pretty full of himself, and did stuff to make him seem cool. He admitted that that was stupid in hindsight in an interview. I think with age he got a little more humble. MY favorite vocalist either way.
Chris Cornell!! Such a DEEP and udder loss to music all over the WORLD! May your spirit and legacy live on in your children and your family and your MOST TRUE and loyal FANS. You were a HUGE influence on me vocally and guitar wise. You left this world too soon brother. \m/ R.I.P.
thank u slash for working with him .I needed to hear this at this time in my life . chris's lyrics has always connected to me in a way where you have to ''believe'' in yourself and the rest flows through the edd'n of life . He gave a great show in 2005 with slave .....he talked to us...told us to get on our feet ''this is a rock concert'' ! he made me feel special for the price I paid for my ticket in the nose bleeds .I miss him .keep making music that gives me some back bone slash . chi meegwich ''
@JeremySwass haha total agree man, kids these days wont appreciate this. well im a kid from these days 2, lol. but your right, chriss cornel is a very good musician. also is slash a beast guitar player.
@bibby42 Honestly, dude, from everything I've seen from Petrucci, he's just fast and educated. I don't even see any versatility from Petrucci! Plus, this is solid rock n roll, not metal, it's supposed to have that slow bluesy feel to it. And this entire album demonstrates Slash's great adaptability when collaborating with various artists.
"Now the cruel world it's gonna try and change you Try to hang you up and mess with your pride Now the rich just try to chain you (?) You got to keep your fire burning inside" omg im crying again
Saw soundgarden when I was 13. Still one of my favorite singers. I assure you Mr Cornell is with Jesus. His work to out pedos and save children will be rewarded.
The first time I ever saw you You had that far away look in your eyes And heaven's light shined down upon you And the whole room filled up with light Well, the cruel world it's gon' try to change you Try to hang you up and mess with your pride Now, the rips and tears try to train you You've got to keep your fire burning and fight
Amanda Wilson Same here... I've heard virtually all of his Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and Solo work... but I never heard this until I found it on the 'Chris Cornell' album on Spotify... I love it.
Amanda Wilson I really like 'Sunshower'... there are a lot of Chris' songs which almost seem to fit with the sad/mysterious events of his passing (almost to an scary level if one allows it to get there)... but for me, 'Sunshower' was the first one that came to my mind... the descending sequence at the end and the overall message of that song just felt like it represented some form of 'closure'... hard to explain really... though it certainly doesn't make accepting he is no longer with us any easier. A huge loss, there is no-one like him
@@GTAON777GTAVIDEOS glad to talk to you, as you seem to love his music almost as much (kidding, just as much) as I do. I must admit, I've watched his interviews and heard what his band mates have said about his songs and that there are sometimes deep messages within them, and he admitted in an interview done not too long ago that he has manipulated situations to create lyrics for his songs- what a talent! Anyhow, I don't hear anything too deep within Sunshower, as in the sort you've described it but perhaps this song mirrors his feelings about life in general, and you can hear that in most of his lyrics. What descending sequence at the end are you referring to? "I know all your graces one day one day will flower in a sweet sunshower?" Is this what you're talking about?
Lovely. Slash and Cornell did this awesome.
Крис крут. Нереально. Спасибо ему. 20 с лишним лет его музыки в сердце.

God bless chris cornell 1964 - 2017 Yeah, velvet revolver with chris would have been mad.Well we have this one spectacular song at least!!!
Paul Jenkins, I agree. Chris or Scott Wyland, both perfect for Velvet Revolver. But i think Insane and Crazy Vicki K., Chris' wife would have greatly clashed. Slash can be straight forward and matter of fact when it comes to his music.

ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER !!!! GOOSEBUMPS !!!!
So sad we will never hear his voice live again ;-;
Agree with you.
Nope, it's one of Chris's worst ever songs, it is Scream level bad which makes sense since it was only several months after Scream.
NO FRINGE BOLLOCKS .. Can you elaborate.. I’m new to this..
TRULY A HIDDEN JEWEL OF A SONG! THE CHILLS GO STRAIGHT UP INTO MY BRAINSTEM & I CRY WITH A LONGING EVEN I DO NOT UNDERSTAND! YOU ARE MISSED!
@bibby42 Tom Morellos solos ruined some great Audioslave tracks, though some of his riffs are great.
Rest in peace, Chris Cornell, you'll be truly missed :'(

R.I.P Chris Cornell . say hello in heaven up there . nobody sings like you ,you were the best .
chris' voice and slash's guitar playing are a truly great match, they complement each other so well
The first time I ever saw you
You had that far away look in your eyes
And heaven's eyes shined down upon you
And the whole room filled up with light
here's an idea for a supergroup
-Chris Cornell on lead vocals
-Slash on lead guitar
-Dave Ghrol on drums, and backing vocals
-and Flea on Bass
Nope!!Flea wouldn't operate with these guys...He needs John Frusciante...best duo in the history of music
les claypool on bass ;)
Robert DeLeo is the baddest bassist in alt-rock imo
It would be great but... Chris passed away sadly
I have a better one:
Chris Cornell on vocals and rhythm guitar
Matt Cameron on drums
Kim Thayil on lead guitar
Ben Sheperd on bass
promise meeeee Maayan why don't you.....

So love this! Only just hearing now, Australian music stations suck we should be hearing more of THIS rock!
+Lissa Milesy Can't be as bad as over across the ditch XD NZ radio doesn't even play music like this at all. They've all totally sold out.
Atlanta doesn't even have a rock station anymore!!! Fucking sad :(
the rock was playing this song 5 years ago... idk what stations you listen to, but it seems they're the type that don't play rock or metal
Music is what keeps me clean off drugs, it tells me to not mess with them.
RIP Chris 💔
I promise you Cornell , I won't let them put out my fire 🔥 , imu cornell❤😭
slash represents for guitar what chris represented for vocals
The lyrics in this one is strong and beautiful wc makes the song stand out more. I regret my 4years of not knowing this.
I just found this 5 days ago. kms.

maybe, but this demonstrates the capabilities in different aspects of slash =)
