If this guy has a good spring training he could start with the Big Team at 2B. If he does well in March and April that's huge for the Yankees, their infield becomes young and relatively cheap. They can afford to spend a year splitting 1B duties between Ben Rice and Oswaldo Cabrera while they're waiting out Vlad Jr's walk year.
I would not rule out the Yankees resigning Gleyber. He said he will take less to stay a Yankee. Gleyber does some dumb stuff in field but he sure can hit.
You seem to be assuming that Durbin will hit well in MLB. Sorry, but I've seen far too many good prospects flop in MLB (including a lot who have flopped for the Yankees) to take that as a given: regardless of how well he hits in Spring Ball, or the minor leagues in 2024. Speaking for myself, at this point I'm not ready to get that excited about Durbin, He has an awful lot to proof, and it's far from guaranteed that he will. There are issues with Torres, but he did show himself to be valuable the 2nd half of 2024 as the Yankee lead-off hitter. Nevertheless l doubt Torres will be back next year if the Yankees resign Soto.
We had speed in 2024. Never used it much. Matter of fact we led all of MLB in GIDP's because Volpe and Jazz could have run but didn't run that much and the rest had no green light from Boone. Result? GIDP Leader, our NY Yankees. Wake up Boone and send these guys that can run including Wells who has some speed also! No more Yankee "safe Baseball" and 9 guys playing HR derby!
Kudos to this dawg giving cred to his coach.
I liked that alot too
He sounds like a Yankee, deflects from his achievement and gives the coach the hat tip. Thanks for the few good times Gleyber.
I honestly won't miss Torres I thought I would but it was time for him to go lol
He really does sound like Judge in this interview, that guy sets the tone. The Captain's attitude trickles down.
He looks major league ready !
Cashman will probably make him wait til he is 30 to get called up lmao
😂😂😂 IKR@@JessicaCav0001
It is good to see speed coming back to the team
Only took 10 years
Hope Boone doesn't screw this kid up by sending him down and back up again all season
He did that with Ben rice
Have him in spring training 😮 looks like a pretty good player
Ok, no worries. Suit up let's go. Yesterday's over.
Exactly
Gleyber Torres really disappointed me with his inability to run hard 😢
Another day closer to spring
Durbin is what the Yankees need a man on fire plays hard on every pitch
I believe he will pair up with Volpa and give us a great middle infield for many years. So glad to finally see Torres gone.
Durbin is a balls to the wall player who hustles all the time. Gleyber could watch and learn something about that
I was wondering where Lutge went actually
Gleyber lost all respect when he didn't run hard in the World Series
Grunt gleyber torres was the laziest player we will ever see
One of them** lol

A real leadoff hitter potentially wow
Better than Aaron judge I don’t think so we need soto back
NOO GLEYBER COME BACK 😂
SPEED!

I agree, absolutely no guarantees at all

Yanks will sign a verteran and let Durbin, Peraza and Cabrera waste away as usual.
Enough with these rookies yankees need to go back to their old steinbrenner ways and sign current top level pros like Willy Adames
