    This repair was successful and I was able to test the card for about 2 hours and everything was functioning normally. Once Der8auer got the card and tried to test it unfortunately there was no picture. There could be multiple problems and not all of them showed symptoms while the card was with me. As this video shows there is serious oxidation on many of the pads and most likely the other 11 ram chips may have the same problem. The card will be returned to me and we will do a follow up video of this repair where we will find out exactly where the problems are, but definitely all the ram chips need to be reballed.

      That sucks the manufacture should fix the card, its their failure in manufacturing.

      Yeah I wondered about this, if the one RAM chip was so bad who knows what you may find under the others.
      But it was prudent to stop after the known failing chip was fixed because no point in pulling the other ram chips if they’re fine.

    • @GodKitty677
      @GodKitty677 Рік тому +7

      @@floodo1 Removing chips that work just to reball, risks killing the card for no good reason. Some places its 50/50 chance to work after reballing all the memory chips.
      Could be that the card was damaged in transit.

    I think the corrosion under the memory chip was primarly caused by condensation that formed while he was overclocking the card and cooling it with liquid nitrogen. His reflow attempt combined with the already corroded balls then caused the solderjoint to break.

    Awesome job Kris! I've been a follower of Louis Rossmann (Rossmann Repair Group) here on UA-cam for a few years. He (and his crew) do component level board on MacBooks. In the last year or so he has shifted his energy into Right to Repair (along with his personal tribulations ...lol) here in the U.S., but his many videos prior to about 2021 are most informative. He is a little acerbic ... a true New Yorker ... but does pass on much helpful learning to the public.

      Naja, das ist die Natur der Sache, dass Menschen mit sagen wir mal einem "anderem" Blick auf die Welt ein wenig Unterbelegt sind in der Masse. Das wiederum führt dazu, das die Masse immer jemanden der mal was Tolles macht zum Bejubeln und Feiern sucht. Ungeachtet des Inhaltes, welcher einem von den Feiermenschen präsentiert wird, kommt ein solcher Kanal eben nicht auf die Würdigung, welche ihm leider nur aus ideologischer Sicht zustehen würde. Es ist also alles genau so, wie es sein soll, wenn man nicht eben mal vor hat, einige Parameter so Grundlegend zu verändern, das man sowieso nicht sagen könnte, was anschließend dabei raus kommt. Wer Chaos schafft, bekommt Ordnung und anders herum. Oder anders: Wenn ihre Frage nicht vollständig Beantwortet ist, ist sie richtig Beantwortet. Salve Alucian.

    👍Great work as usual Kris "BRAVO"! Hope it is just a case of re-balling the other RAM chips. Loved the community recommendedations on der8auers channel, your reputation is serving you well ✌

    Sehr informativ und interessant. Bin von diesem Video wirklich begeistert und von deiner Herangehensweise! Ich habe mächtig Respekt vor solchen Arbeiten, man darf nicht vergessen, wie Miniatur das Ganze ist.

    Thank goodness for surface tension. It is amazing and lucky that the solder 'knows' how to stay in place.

    I’m sorry Kris for the following remark, i couldn’t help myself, but from some angles you remind me of Doctor Evil, i think the blouse does it.
    Nice video and I’m really impressed by how professional everything looks ( the tools, the workflow, the results).
