I don't know why, but the shot of Amity's face when Luz talks about her dad kinda gets to me. The expression of shock and sadness makes me tear up a bit.
_and_ luz's faces, can we also mention that?? the way she's just sort of forcing herself to not make a big deal out of it, and once she opens up about it she turns around and she sees amity's face, and she's so concerned, and she immediately shuts up because she doesn't want to worry her, and everything in that scene is so perfect
I'm totally in love with the transition between "Can't let you have all of the fun, Blight. Just don't get hurt, ok?" to "You going soft on me, Blight? In your dreams" 👌🏻
Also a small thing: the calendar in the background reveals it’s August, meaning that Luz either has only a few weeks to get back to the human realm or Vee has to take her place at school.
@@destructor2360 in the translation of your comment luz was translated as light is that its meaning and thinking about this her first spell was the light spell
Also the new spell she learned in Grom being the spell she used to create the flowers for the ritual.. This episode is honestly one of my favourites, there's so much in it that is so heart wrenching and important.
Also in grom, when Luz learned the spell she said "work this time". In reaching out Amity asks Luz how do you get the spell to work when she was trying the spell.
Amity's shocked and horrified (and maybe guilty) face at the realization that Luz has been bearing this all day is just so powerful, I can't get enough of the expression because the emotion was just done so well. Not to mention all of Luz's body and tonal language throughout the whole scene is just- MMM- This is why I love The Owl House
It's not related to the grom episode but instead understanding Willow. Amity said the exact same line to her dad that Willow said to her at the end of both episodes; "It's a start." And it's meant in a very similar context too. I just find it sweet and it shows so much about how these characters have developed.
It's actually related to all the episodes because all the episodes of The Owl House are episodes of The Owl House and Reaching out is also, a episode of The Owl House.
This is a moral that she ra also has that I love: you don't have to fully embrace someone after they apologize, you can take time to process your hurt and let them prove themselves to you
It's weird just how different they made the same pose look, the flirty cards trick is so cool in grom but in reaching out you can still somehow tell she's barely holding on in order to make sure her friends and girlfriend are safe.
Honestly to me Luz had every right to be upset and hurt, cause Amity has her dad and when she expresses how upset she was him and how she was so upset. Luz felt hurt and upset and that’s why she kept trying to distract herself throughout the day and we understand why cause she missed her dad so much and she tried to put on a brave face her Amity. I felt so bad for Luz towards the end of the episode.
I agree, I mean losing a parent is always hard. She definitely has her reasons to act this way, she just needs communicate a little more. She hides her emotions which then causes her to do reckless things, getting herself and sometimes others in trouble. But her emotions are very reasonable
Not to mention this grief her fascination for Azura turned into an unhealthy coping mechanism that caused her to flunk and get into trouble at her school and become a social outcast due to her unresolved grief and trauma.
3:49 why is this so pretty . . . Why does this scene make me feel all soft and why would this make the perfect lofi screen to study to? This episode is just to wonderful
This episode made me relate to Luz on a spiritual level, I lost my dad when I was five, and anytime I hear that someone doesn't have a good relationship with their father I always get jealous because, hey, at least they have a relationship with their father. This episode made me feel seen, I just love it so much
god this episode had so much angst, it hurt my heart but i loved it. there was so much that happened. i paid no attention to the edric subplots because i was crying so hard.
I love this episode so much not we had some lumity content, Amity's problems being like she said to her dad, some of their past times, something about the day of unity, etc; it also tells us Luz's past with memories of her dad and when he had passed away! And I can relate to the part when Luz's dad had passed away. Well anyways great video like always 💅✨
One more parallel I think In grom episode luz first reach that Cliff running from Grom and then amity came to rescue her and then luz finds out the about biggest fear of amity and then decided to help her And in Reaching out episode Amity first reach that Cliff sad from her dad and Luz and then luz come there finding her and then amity finds out luz dead father and then decided to help her find some flowers for the ritual This shows all of us that any thing happen between them both will always try to help each other
I'm so glad Dana did a episode about something that isn't always mentioned. Everyone always assumes that the Dad just leaves and doesn't want to live with the mom and her child-- when in reality it's so much different. My mom lost her father when she was 18 in the her senior year of high school, still to this day she acts the same way Luz did when it was the day of her Dad's passing. Dana and the crew did such a amazing job with the emotions in this episode.
I think both represent kind of a beginning of a new chapter of their relationship. The first one was where their relationship was where amity and Luz had their relationship start and in the new one is where they took it to a more open and honest place and now I think it’s gotten to a new level of intimacy and trust
Man, I remember when not so long ago I was going to bed but was feeling bored so I decided to watch that new episode that came out that day of that random show I decided to watch from time to time. Then the episode was amazing, it opened my eyes on how great the show was, it made me realize lumity existed, I spent like a hour unable to sleep! It made me become ADDICTED with the owl house! Thank you, Grom, it was so long ago but not so long ago at the same time and it's weird to think that back then the owl house was new with just a few episodes and now there's only a few episodes left till its all over. It doesn't matter what shows come after the owl house, nothing will ever be better and more original and amazing than it in my opinion. Honestly, it's someway better than gravity falls imo, Dana outdid herself. As a person who has troubles remembering names of people, I can proudly say that Dana Terrace, Alex Hirsch and Matt Braly are the best show-makes I've ever seen.
this episode had me fully sobbing,, btwn relating too hard to edrics self worth issues, relating too hard to amitys daddy issues, and the whole thing with luzs dad, my emotions have been h i t
Hold on, is the tree they're at when talking about Luz's dad the tree they made grom into with the plant spell? The petals and location look about the same
At 4:01 it shows a calendar on the left, im not American so idk the summer break length but it says August so it could tell us how long Luz has been in the Boiling isles for?
Do you think the foreshadowing entails, The Collector has power to switch Luz's and Vee's origin? Since the paralelle episodes end with Carmila and Vee being a normal family, and in the beginning Luz's problem was she doesn't fit in the human world.
Wow! I cannot believe how many parallels there are to the two episodes. This was no exaggeration. I believe the crew knew that this episode was becoming somewhat like grom.🤩😮🦉
its not from grom but its from willow's episode s1 (i dont remember the name). when amity says "its a start" and holds his dad's hand, willow in her ep say the same thing to amity and holds her hand (or smth like that)
The calendar at the end of the episode shows it's August 22nd. The placement of the 22nd on a Monday in August either means the Owl House takes place in 2016 or 2022.
I don't know why, but the shot of Amity's face when Luz talks about her dad kinda gets to me. The expression of shock and sadness makes me tear up a bit.
I get what you mean something that the owl house has always done good with is convaying emotions with minimal shifts in the characters expressions.

True, and I don’t think it would be easy for Camila to homeschool especially since she has a job

I can’t get over Luz’s brawl look, it’s amazing. But that shocked stare from Amity when Luz talks about her father, the hit hard.
Actuly i cried
