I made my own sanitizer today but the best rubbing alcohol I could find at the dollar tree was 50% everywhere else was sold out. It's better then nothing. I used half alcohol and half aloe lotion. I hope you can find something to make this. I'm in indiana and we had our first case of the virus 2 days ago and all hand sanitizer as well as other protection is gone. Stay safe! Get whatever you find even if it's not 100% rubbing alcohol.

I had bacterial pneumonia before Christmas and it took 2 courses of antibiotics and almost 2 months to kill it and have clear chest x Ray's. and I still am on inhaler because i still get out of breath walking fast or far., I am assuming because I still have stuff from my own immune system in my lungs that jasnt cleared completely.

That large aloe Vera isn’t the right one. That one is for consuming. You need the one for sunburns/skin. It’s mainly used just to thicken the alcohol and keeping your hands soft.

People should pay attention to the final alchol concentration. Using 70% alcohol to start with will further dilute the alchol to 40% which will definitely decrease its antiseptic properties. So starting with absolute alchol and adding 1/3 volume Alo gel or 20% Alo gel to 80% Alcohol to end up with a sanitizer that had 70% Alcohol in it

It looks like when she added the lemon oil ,it seemed to thicken it up a bit. I just bought the same aloe juice that she had. I added the aloe juice to alcohol and just a bit of aloe gel to give it texture. Then I added eucalyptus to it. I added more of the aloe juice so I wouldn't have to use so much of the aloe gel. I tried making this using 99 percent natural aloe vera , two parts 91 percent alcohol one part aloe vera. The aloe vera just curdled up and got hard as hell what did I do wrong?
Two comments: hardware stores also carry alcohol (it's names are isopropyl alcohol or 2-propanol). Second, the CDC recommends that the sanitizer be 60% at a minimum. Purcell contains more water than alcohol, so it's not good enough. Also, the woman in the video said to buy alcohol that's "at least 50%". If you do that and use her recipe, the resulting product would be less than 40% (by volume). Message me if you want me to check your calculations. (I'm a professional chemist.)

@@cali.songbird Use 2.5 parts of the 90% and 0.5 parts aloe + essential oils. For example, if you use imperial measures, use 2½ cups 90% and ½ cup of the aloe+oils (totally together ½ cup). If metric, use 125 ml (or grams) of 90%, and 25 ml (or grams) of aloe + oils. The lotion will be quite liquid, almost like water. Use it generously. As for your second question, what are the oils?

@Aman Dhillon You can use Everclear. It has an Alcohol content of 95%. Other Alcohols might be possible to use as well. You just want to look for 1 with a minimum of 70% Alcohol (anything less is too low, as it will be diluted when you add other ingredients in). Just be aware, that the lower the Alcohol %, the less additives you can add as well. You don't want the Total Alcohol to drop below 60% for your Final Product.

But either can be used, depending on if you want a Hand Sanitizer that is a Gel form, or 1 that you can use as a Spray. It doesn't matter which you choose. They will both work just as effectively.
Oxygen is the key! This is why I use hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) for 15 years every day (I am 61 now). Through all this period I use it internally, too. Every evening above 3 hours after the last meal I put one small spoon of 3% H2O2 in a glass of water and I drink it. You can consume H2O2 if it is a proper solution with no additive and if you dose it properly - and it rejuvenates your whole body tremendously in the long term. I also use H2O2 as the main protection against cold and influenza by moisturizing the entrance parts of the cavity of my nose and my ears (for this a few drops of 1% solution of H2O2 will suffice if your skin is sensitive). Just avoid putting H2O2 deeper in the nose because it can cause a burning sensation (this has no negative health effect but can be very unpleasant for a minute or two). For application inside your ears, you can use a small piece of soft cloth or anything similar. In critical periods repeat this procedure about 10 times a day. For general protection 3 to 5 times a day is enough. I have to say that before I started to use hydrogen peroxide I periodically suffered from cold and pretty terrible bronchitis. Yet from the day I started to use peroxide 15 years ago to this day I had no single instance of cold, influenza or bronchitis even in days most of the people around me were sick. I hope this information could help somebody these days to cope with coronavirus. I also suggest to everybody make his/her own research on the internet to get enough information about H2O2 from as many perspectives as possible, to get a proper picture which is not always obvious at first sight. Sanitizer is okay. I wouldn't use it excessively because I heard it kills the good germs too.
