- As regular viewers may know, there are 2 things I'm rather fond of and that's Warhammer games and aviation. Dakka Squadron combines these two things in a formula that would be hard to mess up. So when it was announced that Dakka Squadron was coming to Switch, I decided to postpone sinking into Unicorn Overlord for a bit to take to the skies... and you know what, that's on me. What's Dakka Squadron Like? Load the whole nine yards, prep those countermeasures, and do your pre-flight checks as we review Warhammer 40k Dakka Squadron for the Nintendo Switch.

It's currently already 50% off on the eshop. Seems almost like they have already gave up on the game and now just try to get some quick sales in.

Cheers for an honest review. All the other channels were given a copy so they do their best to gloss over things but I appreciate a more honest review to a bias shill.
Since starting this channel I try not to watch other reviews so it doesn't influence my choices. There's a lot of channels I respect so I won't comment on others reviews, but sometimes I do get review copies of games, and would rather burn bridges than embellish a game score. If it helps, all review copies have a disclosure when I say the score. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment too!
@whatsitlikeau as a consumer to content I prefer to shop around for multiple reviews on games. I do tend to give a review that is highly critical more value not because I am a miserable person but because a critical person is not going to hold back on what they say just to maintain an industry relationship such as with IGN. Where they know games a crap but say otherwise to keep early access brownie points. Then there are channels like Switch Up which give a fairly good review but are always too lenient and usually because their videos are always sponsored by the company they are reviewing. They may score down on some games but very rarely is it altogether bad. So if a game is brutal it'll still be recommended even though it's near unplayable. Similar to this game. They made it sound like a gem. Where as you stated all its flaws and didn't hold back. So integrity means a lot more to me than brown nosing.
Again I know you are being neutral but I don't have to be. Lol. But again, appreciate the honest and independent review. You saved me money. I'll get it for steam rather than the switch.
@Cowpitulate The Steam version definitely looks and plays much better and is currently on sale at $15. The worst part of the Switch port is the camera zooming whenever you move. It doesn't look as bad in the footage I took but it made the game nauseating. PC footage doesn't seem to do it. Shame about this port though, could have been a great game.
lmao it's 75% off in the eShop right now, which is why I came to see how it played. Glad I checked first.

I'm glad im not the only one who didnt like it. I've written my first draft and was surprised to see positivity elsewhere (although less so after seeing they were sponsored).

I'm shocked the game was so bad, and I dislike writing negative reviews but this is terrible.
Did u get passed learn to barrel roll in advanced tutorial? And can u fire rockets? I cant with either on switch.
I did, check the controls button setup in your options. I think I pressed a "maneuver button" as well as a direction to execute the roll. As for missiles, they are an upgrade you unlock.
@whatsitlikeau I tried everything on barrel roll. I can do it but it doesn't complete the objective. And for missles that doesn't work at all. Tried another aircraft that had rockets and when I remap buttons zl works for something else but not rockets in any button. L button works for drop bomb even with remap to lz. Yea just the rockets don't work at all. Idk if rz button works I only made it to third planet.
This looked promising. Watched all the usual channels for reviews and I was just about to buy it. But after watching your review, even at the current price of 10 bucks it's not worth adding to the backlog.
It honestly looks and performs awfully. I hate writing negative reviews but this one is very hard to recommend unfortunately
@@whatsitlikeau yea, the last review I watched before this said they'd patched graphics but it doesn't look like enough.
But thank you for the unbiased review. I've wasted way too much time and money on games because of unhelpful reviews. Happy to subscribe for that 👍🏻
@UnicornTears12 thank you for your feedback, it really helps motivate me to keep moving the channel forward. For the record, the patch still isn't out, but I'll make a video comparing it when it does. Honestly though, I don't think a patch is going to do much to improve a lot of the problems that the game has.

Yea, I think might have had an early patched copy. But as you say, there are other problems. But I'll be keeping an eye out for an updated review.
@UnicornTears12 ah yeah I know the review now. They are great guys, but yeah the retail copy didn't fare any better. Apparently there's another patch incoming

They did not. It seems it's been dumped as the sale price is for a month. I think the patch others were talking about was the launch patch, as they had access to an early copy. I'll update everyone of we see a post launch patch.

I love that game. I was playing it last nught waiting for the midnight release of Star Wars Battlefront. So good!
@@whatsitlikeau as soon as I finish the last map on snow runner I would get it , those games are so good for the concept that they have.
Talking about Battlefront they did not mention anything about cross-play right?
I'm playing it right now, no crossplay but it's got online servers. Seems really fun but showing its age.
