Hope it's clear that when I talk about the "manly" traits, I'm specifically talking about toxic masculinity. Not saying that's how all men are, of course
So the manly traits are toxic masculinity? Logically how does that even make sense. You are essentially saying that masculine traits are toxic, therefore only feminine traits aren't toxic. We have a very large set of data of negative or what you could call, toxic, feminine traits in psychology. To simply boil it down to such a reductive description such as manly = bad, feminine = good is absolutely asinine to even suggest.
@@lzl3lol no that’s not what I meant, sorry it wasn’t clear. Just because you’re manly doesn’t mean you have toxic masculinity. I’m talking about a very specific set of traits, the harmful aggressive, hyper-independent, emotionless, narcissistic stereotype that society has trained into some people. I don’t even believe “masculinity” and “femininity” exist really. That’s a whole other can of worms but long story short I’m NOT saying masculine traits are toxic. A very specific set of traits that many men have are toxic.
found you from the EMP video. Few things to consider here. You should also visit your Blue Hill at Stone Barns. In my opinion, they are trying to accomplish very similar things as EMP. They just understand Ecology. There is some problem with veganism when you consider the ecological fact of vegetables and how they arise from the earth. Vegetables do not exist in a vacuum and as most organic and biodynamic farmers understand, they exist in unison with animals. I am not even making the argument to eat meat I am just saying that veganism must rely on animals in some way, if we are talking in an agricutural context.
Even if we needed animals to grow plants, we wouldn't need to artificially breed and kill animals in order to feed the soil. We could simply leave them alone and take manure. What's that magical ingredient that soil needs? It's nitrogen, which can be provided using nitrogen-fixing plants and crop rotations. People telling you that are just trying to dupe conscious consumers, and find a way to justify their cruelty towards their victims and keep making money from a declining industry. Don't believe a word someone making money out of animal abuse says.
I love this video. Thanks for making it. Also I’m sorry that most of the comments are hostile. My favorite point of yours, and one that i rarely if ever see made, is that “intelligence” is the measure of if a living being, human or animal, is worthy of life and their own autonomy. Homo sapiens survived for lots of reasons, and certainly intelligence, or the ability to make observations about the world and apply them to their life, is one of them. But the main reason we survived is because Homo sapiens were very social and sympathetic creatures. The fact that we banded together to defend against predators and to take care of each other when we’re sick or injured is why we evolved so well. Society was created in spite of “survival of the fittest” not because of it. Thanks for your video. Hope the future is brighter. :)
Thank you so much! Honestly despite the topic being very dark, this is one of the videos I’m most proud of making so it means a lot to me to hear that people found it useful in some way. Also, you make such a great point about how our species evolved, I hadn’t thought about that!
Thank you for the video. The burden of both victim & activist is hard to carry and you perfectly intertwined how females of all species are exploited. Dominion & ownership of sentient beings is a very dangerous mindset and can directly correlate with human rights. Having compassion for animals forcebred to then die months or a few years later opens your eyes to all suffering and injustices of life. Many marginalized communities know what it's like for one radical decision to cost them self agency. The ideology of refraining from using animals has been around all of recorded history--I'm just happy to live in a time where I can walk in any grocery store & choose not only veg, fruit, grains, legumes, nuts, but also nonanimal alternatives for meat, cheese, milk and all animal products.
Speaking of 'Dominion', that's also one of the foremost documentaries about animal rights in the modern world and it's a must watch for anybody trying to be a good person.
Lovely video! it really is interesting how so many people who I would think of as compassionate and very feminist / generally activist don't seem to even think twice about eating an animal, very sad to me.
We need to get more eyes on you. You're one of my favorite activists. So, covid was very transformative for me, i went through the largest change in my life and it wasnt because i was a different person but that I actually aligned my actions with my beliefs and understanding the impact my passiveness towards injustice really has. I would really enjoy hearing your thoughts on capitalism and its effects.
Thank you so so much!! I’m so happy to hear my content resonates. I totally relate, nothing feels as good as aligning your actions with your values I swear
If I were to stop eating meat, how would I ensure my body doesn't run out of any amino acids? There's way too many of those things to keep track of individually in my opinion, and I see eating meat as the most effective way to get all of them into my diet. I am in College, so my diet hasn't been diverse; I can't prepare anything myself for the most part.
also women historically are undereating, from the childhood we are supposed to eat less, perform less power-demanding activities and veganism doesn't help with this at all. World needs big, strong, buff and powerful women that are able to punch men in the dark streets. Not some weak thin girls who cannot overpower r@pists and dangerous males. Veganism is anti-feminist.
hey, thanks for bringing this up. there really aren't many things to keep track of. if you don't want to watch your vitamins, just take a daily multivitamin and b12 (or eat nutritional yeast) and you're fine. for amino acids, as long as you have a little variety in your meals, different beans, whole grains, etc, you're fine. Soy is a completely protein so anything derived from it generally has all amino acids, like tofu, tempeh, soy milk, yoghurt, etc. It really, really isn't a problem.
All amino acids are in nearly every single plant. When was the last time you heard someone with a protein deficiency? I will never understand people's obsession with protein. Meanwhile, almost everyone is deficient in several vitamins.
Until lab grown meat is indistinguishable or hopefully superior to mass produced meat sources in taste and cost, then nothing will change. You're not going to change people's minds to change their meals. That will only come with the two aforementioned traits being addressed to alter consumer practices.
I completely disagree. The number of vegans and vegetarians is growing every day. We don't need to wait until lab grown meat is available to make an ethical difference.
@@imperfecthippie Projecting your ethical standards into broader consumption behaviors is unrealistic. Most consumers do not share your values. There needs to be a tangible incentive to make a transformative difference.
@@imperfecthippie Yeah the changes that have already happened are incredible and only growing faster. People saying that we can't change anything for the better ignore the fact that we already have and that we're continuing to do it every day. They ignore the fact that every human or animal right came from the efforts of a minority of people with the courage to do the right thing.

Gotta love the nirvana fallacy.
We know it's impossible to completely reduce suffering but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try.
I'd also say the expansion of plant based food shows enough demand. 🤡
