As a new delta fisherman I really appreciate the quality videos informative Fisherman is producing. When you up loaded this I was fishing on the Sacramento river on my second ever Sturgeon fishing trip. We caught and released six shackers between 36-12 inches didn't take anything home but a 33'' 12lb Striper! Made the 110 mile drive from Merced worth it!
Nick those are the Avet SX what? They look like the SXJs but from what he was saying about not need over 300yds of braid is it the smaller one? Model would be sweet since there are a few thanks great videos as always
Love sturgeon fishing.....great video...I did a video on how we do it here in the Columbia River Gorge....search Bonneville dam slingshot very unique way of doing it...
If you want some great Sturgeon fishing, come to the Colombia River, or the Chehalis River up in Washington State. Some great fishing holes up here. Had reports of some 20'+.
Pittsburg...YEAH! Dinner at the New Mecca or burger at Lumpy's after a hard day on the delta. I just saw an old fella catch a huge striper at A-Shed last night at the marina. The signs say no fishing. They are trying to keep the fishing hole a secret.
2 years too late 😂 but 30-70 fast action 9.5 length with 50 lb braid should pull ya most sturgeon. I’ve pulled some monsters with this setup, just keeping in eye on my line and make sure it doesn’t split. The fights are intense!
Is a shimano tekota 600lc with 300 yards of 50 lb braid on a 7' 9" 12-25 moderate fast composite a good set up or should I up size the rod to a 20-30 and downsize the reel to a 500 series tekota
Why does no one wait for the the fish to actually take the hook you guys are trying to hook set on the lightest taps where the fish hadn't committed to eating it

Phoenix rods are the best. I caught one earlier this year on an 807 out on the delta that was about 9'. Won't buy any other rod.

Great Video, to all the haters... Sharing their passion of fishing.
BeeN waiting on this thanxx! Lol
Nice video....
All is good but that clicker is maddening. We can see when the fish run, we do not need to be clicked out of existence.
Dude joe is my uncle
Come to idaho so we can do sturgeon fishing off the bank, I will show you how I do it.....
The best places to fish for sturgeon is Fraser River, Columbia River, and the Delta/Bay. No need to go anywhere else.
jjbrown16 we got good sturgeon in Idaho too.....
Love all the haters! Legal limit sportfishing!

The captain has no idea about rods in general. all he know is it's expensive so it must be good...
skankhunt42 wrong guy, these are perfect for sturgeon
skankhunt42 they’re not expensive either
would those rods be good for catfish? ive been looking around and trying to get info on gear for possible purchases later on when i can get gear.
They have lighter models of the abyss. Check out the Phenix abyss 805 or 806. You will love them!
