$185 for an all day event not bad for not having to own all this equipment, and great if you are not from here!! I do the same thing in mn, for walleye fishing!! Awesome experience!
Hi, just a few comments I noticed a few question comments that I would like to reply to. Walleye paying for a guide. The Columbia is huge and there are key areas that Walleye hold. Fishing with a guide is an excellent way to learn how to fish and where to fish for Walleye on the Columbia River Oregon / Washington. My wife and I caught our first Walleye ever with a guide we went out on the Columbia with. Sturgeon fishing on the Columbia - there have been a few very short with quota seasons for Sturgeon on the Columbia. There's a minimum / maximum measurement for keepers. Much of the river is doomed for much Sturgeon fishing due to predation. We now have Sea Lions and Stellar Seals that travel clear to Bonneville Dam to feed on the Sturgeon. Plus it is happening all over the river just more happening were the Sturgeon congregate below Bonneville Dam. The predators are killing the Sturgeon for eggs and intestines and leaving the rest. The breeding Sturgeon take 15 to 20 years to reproduce so the problem is major. States have had to do studies and verify trouble Sea Lions and got permission to remove them. This based on Endangered salmon and Steelhead the predators where eating. After first trying every other way to get them to leave the dam areas. Humane Society of America, Sea Shepard (Whale Wars) and other groups have tried to stop removal. People have been pulled out of their boats and attacked in some areas. Guy told us about friends who had their Black Lab killed by a Sea Lion. While in Washington State was told Sea Lions are a real problem on the docks. Some elderly lady walking her dog was attacked and the dog killed.
I remember when I was three and my dad hooked my fish for me. Then I grew up and hooked my own. Also, why keep them? They grow so slowly, they ought to be thrown back for future generations.
Idk your situation but if you live in MN you shouldn't be paying to walleye fish. Just buy a rod, reel, and net! Great fun man an I'm sure you know it! I live on Big Stone (a MN-SD border lake). Fun cuz you can throw a pole with a bobber in and then jig with the other. I can eat walleye every other day....now I'm just bragging but we are spoiled here.
For as prehistoric and cool these fish are, I'd feel guilty to kill one, catch and release, in my opinion, should be the only method like it is in Vancouver, B.C.
Very informative video and knowlegeable guide. Looks like it was a great day.
Seen this guy in the klickitat smoking more kush then he was fishing
