Had to privilege to meet Prof. Kors around the time when his landmark book "The Shadow University" emerged. His enthusiasm and clarity is infectious.

Oh God! A rational intellectual. I thought these people had been purged from academia. Anyone going to university in America should be made to listen to this interview so that they can appreciate what intellectual freedom really means.

I couldn't agree with you more. The rational intellectuals have been run off the majority of campuses in this country in favor of regressive Marxist professors who do nothing to better our society. They want diversity of gender and race, however they despise diversity of ideology. It's disgusting!!!

"Intellectual empathy." Thank you! Yes, finally a term to describe the process of understanding but civilly disagreeing with other people's arguments. Modern day academia is weak on intellectual empathy, particularly in the fields of social justice.

I agree. I've listened to one of his lecture series and he definitely practices what he preaches with respect to not simply airing his own views but rather setting forth others' with "intellectual empathy." And watching this video has made me realize that he is just as fine a thinker as he is a teacher.

Professor Kors has earned my unyielding admiration for his spirited defense and philosophically well considered advocacy of the Individual right to free speech and freedom of conscience.
Please share this video with your friends, colleagues, any young persons you may know. FIRE should be a household name.
    Censorship is always wrong!
And furthermore the progressive establishment must be abolished!

Amazing topic. If only Professor Kors represented the majority of academia what a different country this would be.

"[...]this is the only country on the face of the earth where if you tell a ten-year-old kid he can't do something, and it strikes him as absurd, that kid looks up and says, 'it's a free country.'
This is the only nation on earth whose children say, 'it's a free country.'"
    Err... no... it isn't.
As a non-American who said that sort of things when he was 10, and had friends who said that sort of thing at the same time... It really isn't the only country.
Otherwise, agree with him on all!

He's not defending the views of Leninists, he's arguing for their freedom to express their views.

i mean sure, i'm fine with people being nazies or fascists to the extent they're not imposing it on other people...which would mean they misunderstand what fascism is all about which is dominating others.

He may be referencing, in part, what he talks about in this video, starting around 16:30 - UA-cam. com/watch?v=jjPYjvOnPx4 (remove the space in the URL when copying).

I am confused. What does the enforcement of underage drinking policies have to do with political correctness?

Random associations are not causes but thats all that modernist/nihilists have. They call them statistics.

Shame that this channel does not allow comments on all of its uploads, it is an indication of censorship, the youtube community respect channels that allow all comments.
TheFIREorg has failed to show any integrity.

He conveniently forgets that in the period that he was talking about the minimum drinking age was 18.

Hey, kids say "It's a free country" here, too. But your point stands. When kids have a better understanding of liberty than universities and colleges, we've got a problem, but not one that will destroy us.
