Thank you so much for your tutorial! I've been playing classical guitar for over 50 years (9 years private lessons) and always wanted to learn to play violin and cello. Purchased both electric violin and cello over a year ago and have been trying to learn to play them on my own without private lessons (because they are just WAY too expensive)! The hardest part for me is smooth bowing. Your best advice is mastering finger, rather than elbow, movement to control the bow. So I'm learning how to apply right fingering techniques - that I would otherwise use to play the notes on guitar strings- to control the flow of the bow. It's just a matter of using different muscles/movements but following the basic same principle of resonating each note.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Our small local orchestra want to do this, and it's not as simple as it looks until you get the positions worked out, and we cellists just have to repeat this for the whole peice.
