*TWO CALLS* [RIDE ALONG] - South Metro Fire TOWER 18 & MEDIC 18 responding to medical call & MVA

- Seen here is a Ride Along Video with South Metro Fire Rescue (SMFR) Tower 18 and Medic 18 for a sports injury at the Recreation Center of Highlands Ranch near Denver, Colorado. After the first call in this video it took several hours until a traffic accident was reported at the corner of Broadway and Highlands Ranch Parkway that evening. At the scene, only very minor damage was found to two cars, so the crew was able to move back in seconds after the recording ended.
When I made this video back in 2018 this unit used to be Littleton Fire Rescue Tower 18. In January 2019, almost three years ago, LFR & SMFR merged to one huge department, so I decided to choose "South Metro" for the title. Check out my other videos from Colorado and the United States! I must say I like the colour combinations on these trucks, especially the black paint, it complements the dark red colour instead of the usual bright red colour
There's better view from the cabin than I thought there would be, with that bucket on the front.

I wouldn’t want to ride behind a driver that is so bad behind the wheel. I mean this guy is just plain uncomfortable driving

I didnt know south metro was doing ride alongs right now, was it boring having to wait for a call to come in?
The video was made in 2018, so it is not really up to date. It was certainly not boring, there were enough firefighters with whom you could talk :D
2:44 that person in the left turn lane didn't even seem to care. People are just careless and it shows. Atleast move out of the lane. Love the tower though. Really beautiful tower truck.
Nice! How easy was it to arrange and carry out?
Veeeery easy :D - I was there for a total of two days. On the first day, during a guided tour of the fire station, a call came in and the crew said I could just go along (this video emerged from it: ua-cam.com/video/hv6eUBrZErs/v-deo.html). On the second day, I had to fill out a form, but then I was also directly with them (although I only wanted to briefly let them know that I was recording response videos).

There’s typically a foot pedal on both the engineer and officer’s side so either one can push it down and make the sound.
How did you get permisson to ride with them
They invited me, when I came in to visit the station :)

why the the ladder truck out on this call could you not have found manpower else were?
South Metro has quite a few Ladder only stations. So if it’s in that area. What else are you going to send? A lot of departments are going to Quint only formats. My Department has two stations and two ladders. No engines.

Ach, in Amerika ist das zum Glück total entspannt. Auf der Wache habe ich insgesamt vier Einsätze an zwei Tagen begleitet, am ersten Tag konnte ich einfach so aufspringen, am zweiten Tag musste ich immerhin vorher ein Dokument unterschreiben :D

Driver of the truck is very uncomfortable and uncoordinated behind the wheel. Getting handcuffed doing a simple maneuver with a very small amount of turning just going around traffic is not what I’m looking for in a driver. Yikes.
