Everyone has a integral part in S.O.A.D. Listen to how he screams “Father!” The clamor of pure desperation of him yelling to God about being forsaken.
This is considered one of the best metal songs of all time. I only thought it was ok at first tbh. I liked their song "toxicity" more. But after listening to it more the melodic parts grew on me alot. It's now in my top 3 songs.

System of a Down is like if schizophrenia made music. It's plays on the unexpected, easier songs to get into probably are Aerials, Question, Spiders and Hypnotize. I like this one a lot along with harder songs of theirs like B.O.Y.B. and Deer Dance cause they got great 'let lose don't give a f#"-energy, but the ones I mentioned before are more toned down intensity-wise.

Ah man, my youth was Linkin Park, System of a Down, Disturbed, Three Days Grace, Korn, P.O.D., Saliva and AFI. I will say System of a Down has their own unique style of music that if you weren't raised with it, I could imagine it feeling rather jarring. Glad to see your reaction, it's okay to not be a big fan of something regardless how many other people love it. If you were to react to something else by System of a Down, I would recommend Toxicity, it is a lot less hectic and more mellow than Chop Suey and would probably be a better jump[ing off point for their music. Chop Suey is definitely an acquired taste if you're not already a metal head. I was in high school when the song first came out and I couldn't stand it, my sister and I would literally get into fights every time the song came on the radio driving to/from school cuz I would always immediately change the station. It took a while but I definitely turned out loving the song and the whole album. You'll definitely enjoy something like "Aerials" or "Toxicity" much better coming from a vanilla-normie perspective.

Their faces are meant to freak you out, its not meant to be a video you directly "enjoy" as it's talking about a person's day as they plan to kill themselves and the story is there that they left the clues to what they were going to do "why'd you leave your keys upon the table? you wanted to" (not coming back) and they replicate the look of desperate and lost as well as frantic in places nearly perfectly. Totally cool that you're open-minded enough to give things a chance. I would also add, however, to not be surprised if some shit just grows on you. My initial introduction to rock music was my uncle lending me his Nirvana cd and telling me I was going to love it. Well, I hated it and couldn't get past the first song because it was just noisy, garbled nonsense - or so I thought 😂 Of course there are still rock classics that I'll never like, but A LOT of the music from that era has aged magnificently, and I'll always defend it, especially compared to the popular stuff that is already expired less than a year later.

Well, I hated it and couldn't get past the first song because it was just noisy, garbled nonsense - or so I thought 😂
Of course there are still rock classics that I'll never like, but A LOT of the music from that era has aged magnificently, and I'll always defend it, especially compared to the popular stuff that is already expired less than a year later.
