A few tips : put goombella in front and tattle all the enemies , youll get a detailed description of them and they will then have a PERMANENT health bar showing you their current and max health. When enemies attack you , you can defend with a timely pressed A button Dont buy special items to cure special ailments. Healing items and damge items will suffice. Plus , the game throws tons of items at you and your inventory is limited to 15 items only! And most of all, enjoy my favourite game of all time, the story will blow you away ❤🎉
If ur reading this here is the most important information for you... I've never been into turn based RPG's but played the newly remade Mario RPG and it was great but this Thousand Year Door blew me away. I just love it a lot for whatever reason or another. I can see what all the hype is about. It's just something that in itself is bigger and more epic than it actually is. Makes u use ur talents and ur thinking skills to solve puzzles as you make progress through the game. It's just awesome period. 😊
This game was so amazing to experience the first time many years ago, I positively can't resist watching someone else experience it for the first time as well! This is definitely one of the games that I wish I could delete my memories of just so I could experience it anew once again.
This is definitely one of the greatest Mario games of all time, It has a very ambitious story compared to most Mario games and I'll never forget my first time experiencing it. I love watching people experience this game for the first time. Another significant thing about this remake is that it comes after this subseries had completely strayed from what made it appealing, having all these backwards design choices and lame restrictions placed on them, and then BAM, a remake of the game that is the total antithesis to all the unwanted changes imposed on the series in later entries. (Though I must clarify that by "later games" I mean Sticker Star onward. I'm not one of those filthy Super Paper Mario haters, that game is also peak though the gameplay is very different from this)
I've never seen anyone use a Fire Flower on that first fight with Professor Frankly. 😆 I'm pretty sure if you do the fight normally he tells you about Action Commands, both dealing damage (which you seem fine with, as it's explained when choosing your attacks), but also defensively - pressing A to block an attack, mitigating some damage, or doing a Superguard with B which is MUCH harder, but blocks all damage and may even deal some back. You can still practice with the Purple Toad in front of Frankly's house (and in other places throughout the game), but as someone who's never played this game, it's probably something you didn't want to skip. 😅 Blocking damage is EXTREMELY important and can single handedly be the difference between dying or surviving some fights. I would definitely practice (even if offscreen) with the Toad in front of Frankly's house before you get much further.
Also on switch online in the Nintendo 64 game library is paper Mario 64 The original paper Mario game is available to play if your Nintendo online subscriber, I highly recommend the original paper Mario game!!!!
I just found your channel and love this already. I’m watching every episode for sure. Surprising that you only have 300ish subscribers because this channel deserves more.
I didn't watch the full vid, but i can already say that i love your vibe and how you react to the game ( especially the part with the " curse). If you want to play it by yourself it's fine because this game is incredible anyway, but if you do a let's play, i will watch it just for all your reaction of discovering this gem ^^
I actually played the original back when i was 6 years old, with my older brother. I loved the experiences the game had. For me the big take away is the final boss beware, do not level up your HP past 20 or 25, thats all you really need. Instead level up BP or FP. In the long run those two come more in handy with what ever playstyle you like 😉 Edit: for those wondering, im currently 22 bout to be 23 in a month 🎉😁
Great to see you enjoying it! Even if you want to experience it yourself, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it as you get further into the game! It’s one of, if not my favourite game!
4:50 "Very cartoony and kind of looking like paper" described the series up until Paper Mario Sticker Star prior to that one, the whole paper thing was just used for a handful of visual gags and gimmicks, but wasn't the main focus nor aesthetic in fact, the first one wasn't even called Paper Mario in Japan, it was just called "Mario Story" with the paper aesthetic just mean to make it feel like a picture book but then from Sticker Star onwards they completely changed gears, killed the witty writing, deep story and unique characters and just made the focus nothing but paper references Origami King started going back to basics, but still kept the whole focus on paper crap when they remade this game they gave it the heavily papercrafted look of the newer games, but thankfully the story is mostly untouched so people can experience what Mario was like before Nintendo went super sterile and boring
TTYD never really did speak to me and still won't, but it does look fantastic tbh. Glad you get to enjoy this Holly, it's a solid game through and through
okay, this is in no way directed at your commentary. I actually love your chill persona, but around the spot gain goombella and mentioned loving the music...i have to tell you, this is largely a new soundtrack and its watered down BAD. I encourage you to look up the original gamecube soundtrack in your spare time. it's kind of a shame so many tracks got left behind. I used to look forward to new party member tutorial song. Alas:,)
@@meiu7652 The new soundtrack doesn't ruin the game. Like the person above me said, none of the new tracks are BAD. Just so far very few have hit the way the originals did. Occasionally one does, and I like the way the battle theme gets remixed depending on location and context, instead of being literally the same thing the entire game - although the original battle theme is a BANGER.
@@turntsnaco824 From what I’ve heard, the new arrangements are quite good but also feel kind of superfluous. It kinda just feels like they felt a need to be a bit flashy with the soundtrack in spots where it really wasn’t warranted, all for the sake of having something “new” to offer in the remake. In contrast, the SMRPG soundtrack was incredible because it just naturally elevated all the music from the limitations of the SNES without really dramatically altering anything. A Gamecube title like TTYD really didn’t demand a big overhaul with its OST in any way besides maybe incorporating more live instruments, but they just went all out for it anyway for the heck of it. Idk, just my two cents. Still a good OST regardless.

Correction: You can upgrade your inventory to 20 if you make it to either floor 50 or 60 (I forget which, sorry) in the Pit of 100 Trials.

Fun fact! the original TTYD is the last game to use Peach's old design (darker bottom of dress, no frills and a belt). The remake kept that design.

It's fun seeing someone play Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for the first time. I'd love to see you play through the whole game!
I first played at 12 on my GameCube! It's just as fun playing now at 34 (except I know all of the twists now lol)
i also never played the paper mario series and im on chapter 5 and i must say this game maybe my all time favorite mario game of all time now!

This was so fun! Please more parts!
I'm glad you had such a positive experience with the game, it's a real solid one. I'd be down to watch you play more of it f'sure!
5:01 i'm glad i'm not the only one who went ":D LUIGI!" when he first showed up in that cutscene
i got the game a day or two ago and it's so much fun
This is one of my favorite games of all time. would love to see you stream the whole thing!
Literally obsessed with this! I'm so glad you are getting to experience it for the first time!

I've been waiting for a remake or re-release of this game for 20 years! Glad to see that finally come to fruition. I'll be watching these~
It’s great to see someone getting into this game and having no idea what to expect. I’m glad you seem to be liking it
If Someone asked me what my favorite game is it would be TTYD
Mario RPG is great but I think Thousand Year Door is better. You'll enjoy this more I think.

I love that you really went in so blind you didn’t even know this was an actual RPG 😂
Fame & fortune found
Woohoo let's go 🤗
Professor frankly 😂 lol!!
Also I think you'd like super Mario RPG too since you're getting used to turn based stuff ☺️
Sure i guess ill watch you now

Thanks so much for that info. I was actively considering skipping cuz the new soundtrack was gonna mess with so much🥹
@@meiu7652 Idk man... the new soundtrack isn't half bad, at worst it's a hit or miss but never is there a remix that's outright bad.
