So I just left you a message 10 mins ago on another video about this bike & the KLX 300 Dual Sport does have the 6 speed trans which is a strong selling point for me..... hate the gas situation you mentioned but I'm beyond that b/c I'm on the hwy w/ you now,,,, lol, so the question is ;; is the dual sport & sm klx's different in the teeth/chain & gear spreads? All of this is stuff I need to know unless your bike is a dual sport that you converted? That's exactly what I thought until earlier tonight but now I gotta know? Thanks for these videos man... off to watch more. peace
Hey Salty, is this accurate... Also, can the bike sustain that speed for any amount of time w/o vibrating you out of your skin? BUT have you done any longer distance runs on the Interstate? I've been saving my money for a dual sport bike & have 10-11 bikes I'm researching deeply. Included in my search is all the mods I'd need & their cost so I'm realistically looking at post purchase work including how feasible it'll be to accomplish the work. SO I overlooked this bike & I can't go any further w/o looking at this one b/c I see some great features & since my intent is an 80%-20% for road riding I've got to be able to do 75mph w/o it being too high on the rpm's? What's your take if you're still out there & I'll be looking at other vids here. peace
Couldn't agree more. Yes, small bikes are doable but not ideal for highway stints. Had a CRF250L but sold it due to lack of hwy passing power. Replaced it with a DR650 and put it on Jenny Craig. 👌 ❤❤❤
In this video at the accident scene, you mentioned that you don't like to ride on the street 07:57 . Why did you get a super moto instead of the dual sport if you don't like riding on the street?
1. I hit 100MPH on my 2022 KLX300...stock, but I weigh 135LBS. 2. Pushing 80MPH+ for 2Hours Plus is bad on the engine. My cam froze and the mechanic said that's the most likely reason they had to rebuild the motor. I think having my bike stolen 3 times didn't help...but it makes sense. 3. In a car I for sure know you should check your oil and coolant level once a week, unless driving at 80MPH, then every 2Hours on your road trip...especially with older cars.
hell yeah! i really want a klx300sm and your videos make me wanna get one as my next bike (just got a kawasaki eliminator 450 cruiser and i have a cfmoto 450ss sportbike.) ive never ridden anything faster than an r7 (not even a true 600 since its not 4cyl) but 400 is more than enough for the high way and even on a 400 i can ride like a menace passing cars 🤣 ive ridden a 230cc chinese enduro (csc tt250) on the high way for 60 miles before, redlining the whole time at 70mph tops LOL but yeah, its definitely doable, just not ideal 😆 a 400 is enough to pass cars easily.
I definitely can't afford another bike right now but, I hope to own a second "smaller bike" at some point. My track day addiction is keeping the "extra money account" empty. 😁 Thanks for the video and keep yourself safe! 😃👍❤🏍 Randy
I rode a 06 gs500f from Cincinnati OH to Keywest FL then on the way back hit the tail of the dragon, I’m planning to do the same trip on my fz09 hopefully it’s more comfortable 😁🤣
Perfect since I don't like the highway and google maps navigates me through backroads to get anywhere I wanna be. The highway is overrated and takes from the scenery since you're too focused on going fast to get from point A to point B.
Don't even get me started. They changed the name of Fort Bennings as well. I grew up in Southern Pines atually, I lived on May Street just beside Fowler Electric haha such a small world! I still have family in Carthage and Aberdeen and visit each year.
Most people buy 2-3 times the bike of their personal abilities. While they are riding said bikes at 20-30% of the bike's capabilities (at best) they start to doubt if a 300cc is enough for the highway. :D Then said people go to a the track on their brand spanking new 200 HP literbikes to get passed and eventually lapped by an underage 300-400cc rider. :D :D
Hmm i feel like if i could hit 100 i would feel a little more comfortable on the highway but i can still see myself riding it to work early 4am its always empty nothing to worry about might get one 😂
Mine was the same way at first, once I switched tires and they actually balanced the tires it doesn't wobble at all even at 90+. I don't know why they don't balance these tires from the factory honestly.
Sure bikes CAN do this. Shit my Honda CRF250 enduro hit 94 with a tune and full exhaust. So I would hope the 300 could do it. Put it this way. If you’re doing all this highway, burning the engine at 7k RPM all the time, you’ll find the engine probably won’t last long. That’s just common sense.
1,300 miles on a 250cc!
It’s hard to believe I ever did this tbh 😂
Check out the video below!

I can’t believe you did that! Are there videos on that trip?

Small bikes are super cool and I think they’re great secondary bikes. Thanks for sharing!!
Absolutely! Thanks for watching bro!
I’m so glad I started on that CBR250R eight years ago - on flat level interstate WOT was about 78mph(of course I weighed about 60lbs heavier)
Such fun little bikes!

Haha that’s the only problem, I had a KLR650 years ago that was great, just super too heavy 😅
Always good Intel here. Thanks STW. Have an Amazing Weekend!
Thank YOU for watching! Have a great weekend!

Soon as I get back from Korea I’m getting one of these. Your videos sell me on the bike more and more every time. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Awesome! You’ll love it, such a fun bike! Military?
@@SALTxTHExWOUND yes sir!

Great review and information. Thanks for sharing. Could you share the link for your Barkbusters? Would be bummed to order the wrong ones. Yours look 👌
Nice vid. Interesting seeing other states highways. My commute is a 6 lane wide highway and a 18 lane toll plaza.
Oh wow! thanks for watching!

How tall are you I've been looking into the klx but there are no local dealers with one. I'm about 5'11 and 220 lbs
I'm 5'11" and about 180lbs
I love watching your videos
Thank you Mandy! 😄
@@SALTxTHExWOUND when are you gonna do more videos
3 days in and love my 300sm
Congrats!
Same! My biggest gripe is the small fuel tank!

Wow that’s awesome! The fz09 would be even better!
Have you done any long trips?
Longest trip I've done on it was about 200 miles
80 is my highway speed 😂😂 anything above the ticket gets pricey 😂
Truth lol
Were did you get that small gear reader from ??
HealTech
GIPRO X-TYPE G2 (For KLX300 SM)
What kinda rpm are you turning at 70-75? 🤔
I think around 7k
Perfect since I don't like the highway and google maps navigates me through backroads to get anywhere I wanna be. The highway is overrated and takes from the scenery since you're too focused on going fast to get from point A to point B.
Can you do 80 for a couple hours?
It should be fine doing that. I had a CBR250 years ago that I did a 1,300 mile trip with in 4 days and it was all Highway
What gear indicator is that?
GI Pro
wtf I got a brand new 2024 300 and it barely goes 80 I'm 170# wtf
Maybe already asked what mirror is that
Got my '22 klx300 up to 102 on the highway
I live near FT Bragg around the Southern Pines area. They actually changed the name of it to fort liberty recently. The woke movement got it

@@SALTxTHExWOUND Yep it is definitely a small world..
How much do you weigh? If you don't mind me asking.
about 180lbs
When you said rush hour I was expecting it to be super crowded appeared empty
I was surprised myself honestly lol
😉

Haha yeah much better in the AM, you can always find a Prius doing 70 on the highway and tuck behind them if need be
Front gets a little sketchy at 80 ish but definitely doable.

@@SALTxTHExWOUND which tires did you choose?
Is this stock?
Down 2 teeth in the rear, stock should do a tad higher too speed
@@SALTxTHExWOUND That't the opposite. Look at multi-speed bicycles. The biggest rear sprocket gives the most torque but the slowest top speed.
If it goes over 80 mph sitting straight up with no windshield....good enough as a scooter.
Sure bikes CAN do this. Shit my Honda CRF250 enduro hit 94 with a tune and full exhaust. So I would hope the 300 could do it.

My man! 👊🏻
Mine 300 goes well over the speed limit
