    I'm definitely an "I'll be darned" person. I get annoyed at silly things but there's no denying this emptiness and lack of attachment to every thing I used to carry as a burden. Simply so much more than I ever thought possible. From not even physically moving a great deal like I used to towards endless goals.

    "Well I'll be darned" describes every realization I've had. Or maybe "Huh. I think I get it". It keeps happening though, which is kind of exciting.

    Cool new video and channel that I’ve never seen before. Eckhart Tolle opened the door for me in 2007 with The Power of Now but Adyashanti became my personal favorite. He tends to say things that I don’t like more often than Eckhart, meaning he gives me more hard truths to swallow, which I ultimately appreciate.

      @@primeawareness1971 Honestly I can't even remember. I have been following him since 2008, own most of his books, read most of his writings, seen most of his videos, even met him once. I just know over the course of years there's been various moments where I say "that's bullshit!" or something in regards to some point he makes, only to later realize he was correct. But it all blends together at this point so I can't cite anything specific.

      As wonderful as Eckhart is, and admittedly I've not listened to him as of late, what he experienced is not the total Enlightenment people usually speak of. There's the realization that one is not the ego, which is what happened to ET, and after that the experience One is All. As far as I can tell ET has never spoken about that, which should say enough.
      ET safely sticks to anything to do with 'being present'. Not even necessarily contemplating ones own behaviour. Not to mention he didn't work his way into the realization he had, but he stumbled into it. Meaning he really can't explain how a being goes from an egoic state into the next level of awareness consciously.
      Wonderful teacher, but the teachings themselves are - as you say - been a bit non-challenging.

      @Christopher Portway What do you mean with 'thoughts that differ from that'?
      I know ET would never describe it like you do. Because he never really talks about Enlightenment and I've never ever heard him suggest for one to be 100% present all the time. I doubt ET is himself...

    How can you not like enlightenment if it's the emilination of fear and experience? If it's ever fresh how can you compare it to something you do or don't like? Surely only the mind can choose to dislike it therefore it\s not full enlightenment?

    • @Shazbut0191
      @Shazbut0191 3 роки тому +2

      Amongst spiritual teachers and traditions, I've noticed 'enlightenment' is sometimes used to refer to the initial awakening and sometimes to the culmination of the path. In this case, he's talking about the initial awakening, which as you say is absolutely something the mind can have a problem with.
      The initial awakening doesn't eliminate fear and experience, but it does give a small flame of true inner security amongst the chaos. The job then is to grow the flame by trusting it and living out the implications of that. Eventually one's sense of self completely vanishes, but as far as I understand, the conditioning of the body and mind remains and is continually refined throughout one's life to be a more truly reflective expression of what was initially realised.

    • @JonnyChaos
      @JonnyChaos 3 роки тому +2

      @@Shazbut0191 yeah, I hated my first taste of experiencing that this isn't real. I'm so dependent on this being the ultimate reality anything that showed me it isn't really real, I put my walls up. Even though I know it's not real now, when I'm proved to be right, it still scares the shit out of me. I'm just learning more and more to accept it and view it from the unshakeable seat of awareness, so I can handle future experiences better and not get lost and caught up in them, from only the minds perspective

    • @Shazbut0191
      @Shazbut0191 3 роки тому +1

      Well, it's only unreal in the way that the mind interprets it. Prior to an awakening, one assumes that the world and the things in it are real in the way that one experiences them. We think there actually IS, for example, a planet and cities and people and cars and whatever all with their own individual existences living in a 3D world, and that is like bottom-line TRUE, but then when we glimpse reality as it is, the whole world starts being thought of as unreal, but it's not unreal, it's just the mind attempting to interpret what was seen in that glimpse.
      The reality that was glimpsed was entirely beyond all ideas. Not real or unreal. Not this or that. It's not mysterious or complex, it's just beyond the mind, and it's also where one already is. So it's not like something that is going to possibly come in from outside and swallow up your world (which I used to fear), because it's the seat you're already sitting in. When the ideas get out the way, it just reveals itself more and more. And the ideas do get out of the way the more one lives with this. The mind just gives up the fight in the end and stops arising. It can't deny reality any longer.
      Anyway, I wish you all the best with your journey! Anyone who gets anywhere with this stuff knows the struggle and the dark times, and we have the rest of our lives to keep deepening and deepening. :)

    I’m a big fan of Adya But I think he could be a little bit more real and honest about the humanity of every day living. If he gets tweaked by simple technology and computer stuff, that means he’s bothered by the many slew of things the rest of us deal with. The problem with so-called enlightenment is the need to uphold the image. Even ET confesses to more issues and it holds up much better in his delivery. What I expected and would’ve been more cool is they explain more about every day life & challenges. Meaning that emotion still comes up but the difference is you don’t latch onto them, so there’s a lot more allowing for them to pass and process naturally. Also would say that enlightenment is not any place you go to or get to. It’s where we already are and is merely a shift in perspective which isn’t all that much of a big deal. People who are selling enlightenment are much more apt to uphold and support its allure.

      It is tricky. On the one hand one realizes one Is All. Meaning that one realizes all moves exactly as is supposed to. There are no innate wrongs from that perspective. The peace that is experienced in life is understandable.
      I understand technology can be a pain for someone who has no affinity with it. Just like bureaucracy can be. However, I cannot imagine that one will experience eternal bliss when one has to deal with all the petty grievances of man? When 99% of the time you're listening to people rambling on things that really do not seem like a problem to you, and then when you do not react as emotionally or as predictable they may blame you for it too. That you feel free all the time, but the human system still binds you to do things (like pay taxes) wether you like it or not?
      Maybe Adya is just that innocent, but I've listened to highly spiritually evolved humans who get annoyed at these things. They don't care about a flat tire or losing a job, but having to interact with humans who's perspectives are so indoctrinated that you always have to water down what you say just to not insult their ego's - can be tiring?

      As someone who hás big awakenings 10 years ago wirh massive cósmic downloads and was super earnest with spirituality......even then i was like.......enlightenment doesnt exist.
      And that is the truth! Enlightenment isnt an objective realization. Nor is triggerless existance a charrcteristic of a state of consciousness called enlightenment like Adya pointed to here.
      God isnt trying us to get to a stage called enlightenment. Consciousness IS evolving through and as us in a much more NONLINEAR way.
      Generally what we are.moving to is to a state of more love and wisdom.But expansion itself is infinite. There is no end to us anymore than theres and end to God.
      Which is why we dont hold on to spirirual tecahings used even 50 years ago. The longo changes etc..
      .because all descriptions are still trying to make some finite and atatic
      ....while life os dynamic and ever evolving
      Its WE humans that idealized a state called enlightenment seeing some of our race evolve into Higher frequencies, but those souls themselves are still evolving Somewhere. There is no end point.

    In my expierience what I've observed is that awakening experiences whether big or small never can take precedence over the body's own neural networking. So if one for instance was born with an enlarged Amygdala in the brain(the seat of the fight/flight response), its activity(whether it be it fear or rage)renders any notions of Enlightenment or Awakening pretty meaningless.

      Enlightenment is about deliberately perceiving things as they are. It's not about mastering the so-called fight or flight parts of the brain. In actual fact, we don't understand these parts of the brain at all, nor do we understand emotions. Words like 'fear' and 'rage' are attempts to dissect and label very small corners of an infinite dimension! Yes, emotions range all the way across the infinite!
      Emotional descriptors, e.g. 'joy', 'sadness', 'fear', 'rage', are linguistic symbols that we as a collective attribute to experiences that cannot be measured or quantified! If an fMRI lights up in correlation with some subjective experience - that's just another way to perceive the experience, not define it!
      You see, a truly enlightened being falls deliberately into such experiences when they occur. They will act with confidence IN what we might call 'fear' or 'rage'. But it isn't really confidence then, is it? And it definitely isn't bravado, nor is it of the mind. The enlightened simply act. Or to put it another way, they do not question. And they certainly don't ever judge a 'past self' (one that does not exist) for actions taken.
      Now, to attend more directly to your point. Enlightenment experiences for the most part, and for most people, are not lasting. The effects diminish over time. This is even more apparent if the experience is had through communing with substance or medicine and then dumping yourself back into the 'real world' the very next day. If such a state is to be maintained work needs to be done consistently until an equilibrium is found.
      Truly freeing oneself from the burden of pain requires a concerted effort that most people do not maintain, usually in virtue of ignorance. People can have 'ahuh' moments or enlightening experiences, but unless one immerses themselves in their own subjectivity, then they will fail to realize and maintain their natural state. A good analogy for our predicament is this: If we hold our fists in a tight ball for a couple of minutes, the muscles will become so tense that we have to utilize some concerted effort to stretch our hands back out again. And of course, we have been holding spiritual trauma for a lifetime - if we're going to realize and abide in our natural state then we'd better be attentive!
      In the same breath, awakening experiences inevitably leave imprints in our system - including our neural networking I would say - and I would say that with some confidence. The beginnings of change will have occurred, even if true freedom is a ways off. The next awakening experience will touch you more deeply - and again, and again.

      The purity of life does not depend upon actions, thoughts, behaviour et cetera. No matter what Adya would choose, life is still what it always is, and in the end, life is all there is.
