I discovered Josh Garrels about a year ago, and I was a little worried that he might have disappeared because all his music seemed to be a couple years old... but I am so glad to see he is taking his time to create true beauty, true art... I love how he gets his inspiration from the world around him.

He spoke the same to me in 2019 when I moved back to my hometown in a poor simple area. It's been healing to introvert up with the Lord and go out and see that beautiful world of northern MN.
I make it a point to see the beauty in "simple" things that are actually SOOOO complex and SOOOO Beautiful when you stop to take it in. I loved this.
That is so true indeed! It takes some time and silence, but when you do take that time, you discover an unmeasurable amount of things that are not always brought to the surface, especially in nature!
When he described " World's within World's" I thought of God's solar systems instantly and the growth of goodness and just how amazing God's life and growth is. Thank you Josh , you described it perfectly.
I came across your music on spotify looking for Christian music that was different and yours is truly anointed and I can't stop listening to it. And i found this video looking up others and i think it's so cool you grew up in South Bend and have found such deep faith and love for Jesus in spite of the culture influences. I'm also from Northern Indiana and lived in South Bend for a few years and I was so lost at that time in my life. I fell deep into the darkness there and for some reason God had his hand over me through all of it and pulled me out and showed me the hideous sin I had given into. He saved me and I've watched him save so many others around me and it's the most beautiful thing. You have seriously inspired me, not only with my own music, but in other ways as well and I am grateful for the people in this world that are really living for God and sharing their gifts with us all. Thank you.💜

It’s crazy how what Josh can do on one album, almost every artist would take an entire lifetime to even come close to achieving. He turns what most artists would think of as being mundane stories and topics into absolute beauty. Even his interviews sound like he’s reciting poetry. It’s just refreshing to listen to an artist like him who was truly called and created for curating songs how they were meant to be. Especially compared to Christian artists. Most of them (mainly the mainstream ones) have no original sound. It’s as if they don’t even care to put forth their time and talent to writing well-thought lyrics that truly honor and reveal the beauty and intricacies of God and His creation. There can be more to worship than simply saying we love Jesus repeatedly, and Josh understands that. He sees the world and life as God sees it. Not looking at whatever gaps we put between ourselves and Him, but how tethered we still are.
If I ever had a bucket list it wouldn’t be about places but about meeting people. I’d love to meet Josh and see how music is created once a song is written but not sure if I will or not since it’s a wish not a goal. I too came from MI but visit my daughter in Seattle and love the northwest. My father played in jazz bands when I was a child growing up in the Midwest and I loved it when the band would practice at our house. It was a blessing to grow up in a home with music. There’s something about music that speaks to the very soul of a person. God uses your music to speak to souls. Keep up the great work. Carry on with courage. Your music and wherever you record is excellent. My spouse and I are sound geeks and your music is so well recorded that it takes me back to those safe places I had as a child.

The part about being in a place of simplicity really speaks to me right now. I love seeing what God does and shows us in times like that. Every revelation or experience He gives is truly cherished.
Josh, thank you for this video. My husband and I have been getting the same message about "simplification" for about 4 years now. We are in the Northwesr, but we moved from the Gresham area and then moved further East to Goldendale, Washington, a town of about 7,000 people. God has been moving so much in our lives through this move and our obedience. Keep seeking His Kindom and His rightoeusness brother!
He is so insteresting musically but every time I hear him speaking is like he said: worlds within worlds, so deep but simple at the same time. You are truly inspiratinal Josh!!

I am here today because of the lord jesus christ, and knowing he took all the pain for me i onow i dont have to end my life. Josh garrels is an amazing artist, but the true beaty of it all is the kingdom of God and christ dwelling in us, we are in this world , not of it. We have a purpose, a destiny. Wow! This is so in time! Because we are living in a world that You can't avoid the fake images that come to You, and we sink almost without realizing that we are sinking. thank you Josh for your beautiful song and adventure with God showing you our "worlds within worlds." i too have been given the knowing and seeing in nature this concept. God revealed to me when collecting wild flowers there is a miniature world of landscape with ground cover plants & flowers, the same as in the world we exist in and also the heavenly realms of nature landscapes. But we have to notice these lessons from creation drawing us to God the Father and it is such a soul and spirit regeneration and connection with God. The Maker & Creator of all, intricately connected, testifying of His Magnificence, Love & Beauty. Praise Our Creator for giving US eyes to see, ears to hear, hearts to experience, minds to connect and Spirits to fellowship within...Peace Out Josh! May your Garrels tribe increase!

Yes, the Glory of the Lord fills the earth. I have always said God loves shimmer. Not the bling sparkle, but the shimmer on the snow, the refection of the sun off the water, the cold winter air, the sand on a beach. Even in the most unnoticed insignificant things like when my boys were younger and we'd spend hours just smashing rocks on the beach to see what treasure they held inside. I've always tried to point this out to others too. Some think I'm silly, but others can catch the wonder that I try to share, when I tell them they just have to look for it, its all around!. A couple of months ago, my new daughter inlaw sent me a random text saying, "the sugar shimmers!", she works in a cafe/bakery and was so excited to tell me "its true! there really is shimmer and wonder all around if you choose to see it"! I can't even begin to tell you how special that was for me.
Along my way with God, I've learned that as much as we want to shine and shimmer for God, the only way that will ever happen is when we position ourselves to reflect the light of "the son".. of Jesus!

Oh there's different degrees and types of beauty for sure. One thing you'll notice though no matter what path the Lord takes you down is how it all comes back to you, your art created and given out comes back to you & when it does, it is amazing because it is deeper= you can recognize it and the why - plus other questions you had wondered.

Thanks! The main thought of being where you are and carefully going into deeper understanding of and observation of what's around us, and not seeking the distracting overwhelming parts really speaks to me. A little side thought that speaks to me a lot as well is social media. Being less external and focussing on the heart of things makes a whole lotta sense actually. Thanks again for the inspiration!

I have been a big fan of yours for all of my adult life. But Oh! How I wish you had left out the first person speech of God! It is true that the heavens speak authoritatively about the glory of God, but there is nothing authoritative about our interpretations of natural revelation. God bless you and keep you and sustain you, brother.
Dalton Seek Authoritative? Perhaps not, but respectfully, Josh Garrels is seeing what Romans 1:20 speaks, and the same Spirit that directed that verse is working in His life. And that Spirit can move as He pleases, so we must be careful to decide when He has and has not spoken to people.
