Where can I find your lesson like this for the IV and the V chords?
This is great, I think you might actually be the 2nd best guitar teacher on UA-cam.
TRAITOR!!!!!
who's the first?
+NiagaraTim I'm assuming the guy who wrote the comment above! You should check out the stuff that they do together, definitely two of the best teachers I have found anywhere. I never watch advertisements but make an exception when it comes to these guys in the hope they are getting paid!
sorry sean, you're the second best teacher on youtube. of course that is still a major accomplishment.
Sean Daniel LOL! At first I was like.......then I saw and was like 😂
YOU my friend are the alien. I have visited hundreds of blues teachers on UA-cam and none teach like you. I am glad you have chosen Earth to visit and extremely fortunate to have made contact with you....thanks...i'll be back😎
Love your teaching!!!!!!!
I have a fighting chance to learn this... After playing for 50 years.
One of your most enlightening videos! Now the blues structure is beginning to make both sonic and arithmetic sense! Thanks so much!
I think it is a wonderful thing that you feel in your bones the duty to share your knowledge with us.. we need way more people like you sir, thank you!
Ian, just recently started tuning into your lessons. Really like your approach to teaching, your sense of humor and laid back personality. I’ll be checking out your lessons regularly. Thanks!
You are beyond gifted. The ability to educate with such clarity, all while keeping your audience focused is a gift .Your creativity and originality, make even the most conventional topics unconventional and all the while making it even easier and clearer for students to understand. This is your calling brother. I'm glad you are doing what you were meant to be doing (and I'm glad I found you ). Best of luck.
Peace and love
I'm having so much more fun playing guitar, than ever better. Learning to start riffs on the root notes, and learning the influence of the 5th note is amazing. So many revelations since finding your videos a few weeks ago. Love the Neverlost system. I'm learning the minor pentatonic scales now, and they make so much more sense thanks to you! Realizing the root notes are in the same spots no matter what key, was "Aha" moment. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! I love your teaching style!
Your ability to break this down into simple terms has helped me tremendously. Keep up the great job!🎶😎
Best guitar instruction I’ve found on UA-cam & believe me I’ve been searching.
"Minor scale on top of major chords": Pure gold. Thank you!
Thank you .I have watched many UA-cam videos and it is so nice to come across a video like yours and I shall explain why .A lot of people are just in it for the look at me factor and are not genuine nor generous with their knowledge.Where you my kind Sir are one of the best I have seen .You are not a show off and you explain everything so simply and are generous with your knowledge . I tip my hat to you !
My lord years of lessons and you break it down so easily to understand .
I wish I had you teaching me when I was much younger! I have learned more from you in 4 videos, and pieced together more gibberish in a few days, than I have learned in my 30+ years of noodling around. Love it buddy! Awesome!
Love the clarity of lesson. Thanks.
Best yeacher on youtube hands down. So easy to understand and no showboating. Such a cool dude.
This guy is one of the best guitar teachers I have ever watched.. I wish youtube was around 25 years ago.. Love your vids
Freaking genius! Thanks for your videos. I've been playing for over 30 years and I didn't know this stuff. Great, freaking great!
You're my new favorite guitar teacher on YT. Genius, but so down to earth and demystified. Thanks. I'm off to find an A blues back track and practice.
This is great stuff! You have a very clear way of explaining the blues and all the mystery behind it.
By far the best guitar tutorials on youtube. You do a great job, really need to try to dive into your other videos.
Great lessons Stich. You, Sean and Justin are my favorite's on UA-cam.....keep them coming!
You're completely correct. Clapton ends on the major 3rd in "Reconsider Baby" just like Hendrix did in "Red House"
Really appreciate the theory you apply! I've looked at a lot of youtube guitar teachers and I have yet to find one that applies theory as well as you do. Thank you!
Hey there Mr Stich.
This lesson was invaluable. The proverbial "A-ha" for most of us. You are among the best on UA-cam.
cheers
I have been working on mastering the guitar for years. Not there yet but love your videos and style.learning alot .thank you for your work!!
I have always played by ear too like someone else mentioned in the comments below. I started as a little girl, both my parents played piano. I had no lessons but could pick out tunes very early and so it continued. I picked up guitar in my early twenties (should've been much younger as I wanted) and never understood nor bothered with the theory stuff much. The way you teach it makes SOoo much sense but it is also quite awesome to know that what my ear was always telling me, when I threw these notes in, was correct! (Same with some of your other lessons too) I never knew the why nor reason, just that it should. Its like magic being explained. You are such a great teacher Ian, thanks again. My life has taken on a whole new meaning musically!
This video has opened my eyes! Thanks a lot
Just learned tge most , and most useful info thats easily immediately applicable ever from a UA-cam guitar video. Thank you!
So much great stuff in these videos 😊
Thank you so much for the wonderful lessons. I'm learning a lot watching your channel. You seem like a wonderful teacher.
Love your tutorials. Down to earth and you make it fun.
Man I which somebody would have told me before even though that’s very obvious a lot of people doesn’t realize (including myself). I hope there was any way to put your lessons way more out there. Thank you master for showing everyone the right path simply and motivating instead making us feel like idiots.
You’re the greatest! Thank you for the lessons and generosity :)
Great video. Very clear. Thanks. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Wow.... I’ve been hearing this and not know what’s going on.... Thank you for explaining! It’s added sooo much color to my blues solos (Well beginner, basic soloing)
You explain so well 👏👏
the way you explain and make everything so easy is just awesome! you are great teacher and a player
Green & Blue
I too think you are not only a great guitarist, but a really GREAT "teacher" as well. It may be just me, but...could you try to talk just a little bit slower...please?? Thanks in advance! I have subscribed to your channel. :)
this is really really helping me to put some interesting bits and dits together , as I am not the brightest tool in the box thanks a lot I am now a follower of your teaching method.
Your knowledge is greatly appreciated sir!!! Your a great teacher!!
Epoch! I have never seen anyone else get to that essential concept so quickly and easily. It took me a long time to pick up the minor/major relationship in the I chord. Too many instructors bury it in too much theory.
Extra bonus points for reminding everyone about the "genius" of Hendrix. Not very many people recognize it anymore.
This man is an awesome guitar teacher and he plays great as well, thanks mate, cheers..
good stuff, you took what I learned in the past about diminished scales and made it so I can jam better with them by explaining the how the notes in the diminished scale fit over the top of the Pentatonic scale over 7th chords.
Loved this. The blues is a minor scale played on top of major chords. Simple really :)
This work is excellent work for me..even though five years gone...i never leave without comments this video
Sandwich, Cake, Whatever...that is my new band name! Thanks again Stich, you are AWESOME!! I have been really enjoying my playing more than ever since learning from your free videos.
Thanks much!! I've always played and learned by ear, never could afford lessons when I was younger - maybe 9 mths out of 15 yrs of playing. This makes sense now..like "Eureka!" I subscribed earlier today.
I've been playing a long time but I've never heard it explained so completely but so easy to comprehend. Just because I can play the blues sure doesn't mean I fully understood why I was doing what I was doing. Thanks! Keep up the videos. You and Sean work great together. :)
StichMethod Guitar Loving these lessons! I appreciate you sharing your talent with the world
I'm sure someone has already mentioned this, but the "A1 Steak Sauce" comment is just fantastic and spot on
Wow. Your channel is fantastic! I subscribed and have ripped through several vids already. So much better to see and hear the structure and context than being mystified. And great that you use food references like a sandwich or frosted cake. It just makes sense to me! Seriously great-
The song examples are really helpful
I learned music theory in grade school playing a trumpet. Decided to teach myself guitar and piano - no lessons - just a Mel Bay chord book. LOL! . A lot of trial and error but finally found some success.
I wish you'd been around back then (before the Internet)! You would have saved me thousands of hours in learning to play guitar solos. Most of the "teaching" videos I've watch are only there for one purpose - to give the "teacher" an opportunity to show off their skills.
Nice work my man - keeping things as simple as possible!!!
Amazing Lesson!!!
wow u are an amazing teacher. It makes so much sense.
Great lessons, excellent teaching; subbed right away. Thanks a lot.....
Love the acoustics of your living room, the sound reminds me of some blues bars down on bourbon street.
You're cool. I like your teaching style! Thanks for the videos!
Great lesson, thanks Stitch!
Loving these videos. They are demystifying guitar for me. Maybe you explain this in a later video, but I'm hoping to understand when to use the flattened 5th. After watching this I now understand when to use the major 3rd. Prior to watching this i had no f-ing clue, seriously. Thank you so much for theses lessons.
So happy about your instruction in music.
Going to join your Patron channel very soon
Chuck
I am quite impressed with your pick work during your talking points.. that is trick stuff right there..
wow what a great explaination in words
I just learned more about blues soloing than I ever knew.
Great series Stich!
Emulsify!! That is definitely the first time I've heard that in a youtube guitar video, but it totally fits!
Thanks ..what a gift. This helps a lot. Glad i landed here.
Wow. Was having trouble with this concept last night. You explained it very well how the Blues is a major chord progression (with the dom 7) and mixes with the minor pentatonic.
You have taught me so much in just two of your videos!! Thank you so much brother!!
Welcome to the channel! Glad you are enjoying!
Great video. I am glad I now know what the blues is.
your channel is amazing, thanks man
So simple, so cool 😎
Every beginning blues player should watch this video!
great teacher I love it
Without a doubt the best guitar lessons on the internet:)
Thanks Michael!
Great lessons thank you so much.
very nice and exciting way of expling the concept and crux.. most interesting teacher ..each and every lesson is full of tasty information
what they said. Love your way of teaching. Thanks.
thanks.things are starting to make sence.I never got the 1-4-5 deal either till your videos
Thanks man.you're a big help.love all your videos
Great Lesson! Thanks
I really like how you teach, it's fast yet easy to understand. also, calling the notes as 5758 I stead of abcd is much easier to understand. thank you
so much information here thankyou, thankyou, thankyou.
Great lesson! Thank you!
So glad you enjoyed it
You always add a little bit in your lesson that make the things sound a lot better.. cheers
Thank you, your AWESOME!!!!!
Fantastic educator!
genius at work here. brilliant.
i always wondered why some licks had that major note in it and how it worked. thank you very much.
Omg!!! You could be my dream tutor 😊 thank you so much...
thanks,,awesome lesson,,really helped me,,,
That was so well put. I too have always wondered what gives guitarists the right to play what I always thought were wrong notes. Turns out those guitarists knew that they were right notes. Damn you music !!!!
48mastadon having a very good ear helps
I just subbed , great lesson, thanks for sharing.
Hilarious! I guess I had known about these notes as "passing" notes or "blues" notes (unless those are something completely different). As a result, I've been using them along the way to another note but not as a landing place. Brilliant and great to have this background knowledge of why it works.
Got nothin' to say about your guitar tutes except that they are bloody perfect and thank you for posting the best guitar theory explanations out there. You might fix the colour shifts in your future videos by locking down the colour balance setting on your camera. That may be why the hue keeps shifting from blue to red and back again - probably reading the light off your hands.
Cheers and thanks for the music, Pete
Another excellent video. tx
Nice explanation.
Thank you very much sir!
UA-cam has been my main platform for learning electric guitar for the last 4 years and in my honest opinion, this guy is the best guitar teacher at explaining the blues. Great videos and lessons!
Thanks Luis!
Luis - I never really had access to an instructor so my learning experience has pretty much always been on line and my discipline leaves a lot to be desired. I have started over more times than I can count over the years and tested the waters on many sites. I was constantly jumping ahead to things above my raisin' before mastering anything. I agree with you about Ian's methods. He seems to be a straight forward human and has the ability to tap into the simple (not diminishing the value) concepts and pass them along. I constantly review his ideas as I go because he builds an excellent foundation in the blues. I credit his instruction to revitalizing my energy to continue learning. You are right on the $ with you're assessment of him as an instructor. TW
Great Lesson Teacher! 4 me u r the best one Blues man !
Scratch my question. You just answered it in your video about blues trick #2.
Thanks!
