Oh Karen, as usual you make everything look so simple for us viewers. May try this tomorrow as getting better at the salt affect. As another comment was made I too find the backgrounds a bit intimidating. But can only get better with practice. Good evening from New Zealand and keep up the beautiful work.
Good evening to you Jennifer in New Zealand, thank you for your lovely comment, and good luck with trying this painting tomorrow. You are right, you will get definitely get better with practice with the backgrounds… Happy painting :-)
I did this one a 2nd time today to see what might be different. I was better able to do more of the details on the flower. Thank you for all the tips.
Wonderful! Thank you Maggie for sharing. Happy new year to you
So beautiful
Thank you so much
Thank you Appreciated
I want to do this on fused glass tomorrow, thank you VR
Wonderful have fun! :-)
The daisy is very refreshing !!!
The colors (even though they are only a couple of colors ) seem to get dried up when I mix them ahead of time. But most of you professionals seem to have no problem though you mod them up ahead of time. Can you advise please.
Try to mix puddles that way they won't dry up. Try to mix just before you start painting. Hope this helps :)
I love this! :)
👍👍👍
Love this! How do you keep the paint off the daisy when you turn it sideways and let the colours drip off?
Thank you Doris really pleased that you like this tutorial. The daisy was dry so the paint didn't run onto it. Hope this was helpful :-)
Wonderful!! When i use salt I dont get that effect, How wet does the paint have to be? Thank you!! ❤️
Thank you so much, great question… Make sure your paper is damp and not too wet. Good luck, happy painting :-)
Hi Karen, I absolutely love this painting! It looks fairly easy and you explain every step so I think I can do it! One question, at what point do you remove the salt? After the background dries and before you paint the center of the daisy, or at the very end? Thank you so much!😊
Thank you Susan for your lovely, I am so pleased that you are inspired by this tutorial and would like to paint something like it. I remove the salt once the painting has dried and obviously the salt has hopefully gone its magic! Have fun painting this one! Happy painting :-)
@@KarenRiceArt would larger salt crystals have a different effect than the small size of regular table salt?
Can we sprinkle vegetables salt if sea salt is missing??
Beautiful....I am beginner and have only done some basic technique practices and a couple small paintings. I was going to paint a fish for my Dad fro Fathers Day but failed and got frustrated. I have it in my head that I prefer to use my own reference photos which doesn’t help either. Watching too many tutorials is not getting anywhere but I think this is just the type of thing I need to make a start. What size paper are you working on? Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Dawn for your message, so pleased that you like the channel. Are usually use 9 x 12" paper. There is no problem using your own photos, just get creative, get those brushes out and start painting! Don't be hard on yourself, happy painting :-)
👏🏻👍🏻🎨🥇
Thanks for this I love it - I've tried a few of your tutorials and enjoyed doing them. I find that I am not bad on the flowers but although the backgrounds look simple, I never seem to get them right and when I try to adjust them I just make them worse - any tips? Also, question is your membership £4.99 done or £4.99 per month?
Thank you Mary for your comment and questions. Keep your backgrounds simple for now until you gain more confidence! Make sure you always mix your washes first then wet your paper. Practice makes a huge difference. The membership is £4.99 per month and you can cancel anytime :)
@@KarenRiceArt Thanks Karen for the advice - and I will subscribe.
@@KarenRiceArt Will subscribe on Aug 1st as it automatically renews then.
Thank you Mary :)
Do I rub the salt off after it's dried?
No you don’t rub the salt off. I recommend laying down some mid tone washes, wait for your paper to be damp, and sprinkle the salt. Give it time to work. Hopefully you will get some nice results. 😊🎨
Love this but could you please turn up the volume?
Can’t hear you
Your brushes are sitting in the water....cringe.
