    Had mine a year now, use mainly for rock fishing in North east, beach fishing too. running an okuma f/s 60lb j braid straight through with a cannon on the rod for release. Broke a ring othernight but that was due to tripod blowing over in high winds, rings however are brittle as expected - cut it off and fit a lumi shock ring. Only had upto 5lb fish with it so far but handles well, in the rough kelp too. I bought this one as i previously (years ago) bought an sks 13 ft multi rod. still got it and been a brilliant rod for me (but i did rebuild it with minima ss rings), in the rough ground too. Heard about sonik snapping syndrome from the start, but never had any problems with mine and i do thrash them. Onto casting... any rod over 12ft will give you 100 - 120yds with an overhead thump if the rod is balanced with the correct weight, i very easily had 120ydswith a 6oz storm lead, with a good twist of the torso and the lead behind the right shoulder then 180yds is easily achievable.... unless you have a big bait, balancing on rocks, in the dark with wind then its gonna be 80 - 100 yds.Good value for money in my opinion

    I remember watching the javelin event at the olympics and the talk was all about whole body muscle and technique.
    The javelin best performance come when its launched at 36 -40 degrees.
    I used to look at the horizon when casting and always hit the same distance but now I fix my sight above the horizon which makes me release the line earlier and it sends the weight in a higher arc and hopefully at the said angle. It works for me and Id like to know if anyone else has tried the method.
    Cheers

    • @kf8575
      @kf8575 3 роки тому

      Looking up at a 30-40° angle definitely makes a difference to the height and therefore arc of the cast without a doubt.
      I cant get on with fixed spool reels at all, so use a multiplier for all of my fishing. Looking at the horizon, the lead goes out on a flat trajectory, ploughs intonthe water at full speed at a much shorter distance, and causes big birdsnests.
