One of my favourite items are my double breasted blazers. Love them worn with grey or white roll neck sweaters or with shirt and tie. In fact I tracked down a brand new original Royal Navy issue blazer in a blue so dark it looks black in a certain light. Of course with gold buttons with anchors! These blazers are very sartorial but worn with a pocket square etc they can be less formal. Pity the blazer worn by Brosnan in Goldeneye was not seen more in the movie. Great video David.
Great look, David. Wonderful looking blazer and you look good in it. Love all your videos but now you are gonna have to do more nunchuks. You took it to another level.
Beautiful jacket David. Love the military aspects of the jacket. 6 x 2 is not the normal off the rack. You look mah-velous ! I have a Brooks Brothers two button blazer that I love in spring and summer. Not as nice as yours but nice for the price. Miss Bond’s military heritage as when he suited up in TSWLM!

Wow. You won't believe this. I am wearing almost the exact same outfit today while working from home, down to the martini socks. The only difference is my shirt is white with light blue stripes. Good video. Time for me to update my double-breasted blaze.
I used to enjoy the look of double breasted blazers and had a very similar navy one with gold buttons from Brooks Brothers. Unfortunately, it was too dressy for most activities and I think the last time I wore it was as part of a Halloween costume when I went as Thurston Howell III (the millionaire) from Gilligan's Island. If I need to class up my outfit these days, I stick to my single-breasted navy blazer with gold monogrammed buttons.
Looks great on you, David! I personally believe that anyone can wear a double-breasted blazer. There shouldn't be any rules as to how tall or slim or old one needs to be. That's just silly. The dramatic cut of your blazer reminds me most of Moore's Italian blazer in Moonraker (which seems distantly inspired by Savile Row's Tommy Nutter), but the overall style I think is most like Brosnan's blazer in GoldenEye. Very Bondian!
Here’s a double breasted blazer I admired: will Smith in six degrees of separation. He wore it with baggy nineties Flat fronted khakis and a button down shirt with stripes and then In pink. He was very slim then And later in the film he is sleeping Rough in Central Park and it still works with the jacket open. It’s a look I always liked.
Absolutely fabulous addition to your wardrobe, very classy. Your fitter via FaceTime did an amazing job long distance. Is the blazer fabric a seasonal blend, or hearty enough for year round wear?
@@kevincooke3882 if I owned one obviously. If I was wealthy I would definitely wear the clothes i want to wear on a daily basis, but being poor or not so wealthy doesnt really allow that. Especially in a town like mine, theres really nowhere to wear it except maybe going to a fancy restaurant. But even then you'd look over dressed
Dude! In Kung Fu I've never trained in nunchakus but as professional martial arts teacher I know a good nunchakus display when I see it and that was really good! I've heard you mentioning passing that you trained but what martial art and for how long?
@@TheBondExperience Well it shows. Martial Arts gave me my life, so when I see someone who has dedicated their time and effort to achieve a high level of mastery, I have great respect for them. I've seen Tang Too Do briefly at a masters event I go to and I liked the balance of Karate and grappling. It looks to me (I could be wrong) like a nice mix of Karate, Judo, and Jiujitsu. A brutally elegance art. I bow to you.
Beautiful blazer. I'd probably let it out an an inch or so over the waist to avoid that pulling on the closure, to get a cleaner fit. But that's pretty much nitpicking.
There was a website around the time of casino Royale that had a long updated biography of Daniel Craig’s bond. It had even voice recordings of Villiers (the guy that retched a little when they found Solange’s body in the the Bahamas) giving his biography. He was born in 1968. His father worked for Vickers defence systems. He joined the navy and attended the naval war college. He served on a submarine during gulf war one. He Was an intelligence officer. He then volunteered for the special boat service (British navy seals) and served in small operations all over the world. Trained in air and land vehicles. Was recruited by MI6 and then became a double 0. It was an interesting read and full of cool detail and placed bond in a modern 90s 2000s 9/11 war on terror sort of world as a naval man then special forces and then MI6.
I was once invited to someone's wedding, and there was a pool, and I was the only kid in the pool because it was early spring. And there was also a man in a navy blue double breasted blazer with gold buttons. And that's when I realized I was the "common people"! I was swimming in cold water next to a guy dressed like Roger Moore!
I think the double breasted blazer was at odds with the ever narrowing style of the 1960's. It's much more a creature of the boxy '30's / 40's. I can't even imagine Jimmy Stewart without one. But it's awkward by the 60's. So, when early 1970's fashions began to widen, it made sense again. Roger Moore and Johnny Carson are two examples of men who looked so much cooler in 1970's fashion! And that included the revival of the double breasted blazer.
The tie features the regimental colours of the Royal Navy. Too little attention is given to Bond and the Royal Navy in which he holds the rank of Commander.
I love the Roger Moore bond movies but sadly his era of fashion doesn’t age well so I pass on the blazer. Leave it for the elderly country club members
Ok you must stop tempting my credit card. Its tough looking at your personal museum without folding. I am alreadu looking at a Sunspel Polo and now you want me to get a double breasted blaser. I love your work, but damn sir. You must stop tempting me such 😉
Unpopular opinion but in my view it takes a certain kind of man to pull off a double breasted blazer. Frankly Roger had the whole package, in terms of his body shape, complexion, and the command of his interpretation Bond as a playboy, which made him off that particular blazer effortlessly. If anyone else pulls off a double breasted blazer to that same degree, it'd John Spencer's character in The West Wing.
@@TheBondExperience ha I may be overly dramatic, but that and his love of Roger Moore made blazer wearing a little uncomfortable for the British male for a while!
I'd always pick a single breasted jacket/blazer over double breasted but wow! That's one hell of a blazer that looks fantastic.
Thanks!

Alan Whicker always wore a blazer, that was his trademark. He did a whole programme on Bond for Whickers World in 1967.
Alan Partridge(Steve Coogan) also always wore a blazer, that was his trademark. :D

I think there are some good sites for this but can't think of any off the top of my head.
There is a mock autobiography that pulls all the book references together that gives a good timeline
