"We'll pretend the sequels past T2 were a bad dream"
*proceeds to blend all of the post-T2 sequels into one film*
T2 Judgement Day remains one of the best sci go movies ever.
The first movie was much better in my opinion, at least story wise.
@@kyleg2756 I agree. I love both but I personally enjoy and am impressed with the first Terminator more
First movie that made me cry; so much emotion. Great masterpiece.
@@j2174 Yup, when I was young T2 was my fav, but as I got older I realized how great the first one is, and now that's my fav.
The scene of that thumbs up sinking into the molten steel was one of the founding moments of my childhood.
“The other movies didn’t continue the stories of the characters I cared about”
Then he proceeds to kill John Connor in the first 5 minutes and state that Kyle Reese now doesn’t exist
Couldn't agree more! How could you forget about those characters!
Yeah FUCK DARK FATE
@@callumcc8897 Because he is not young anymore. its time for him to give away the movie rights away to those that actually care. In my honest opinion.
What? Cameron being older doesn't mean anything! Your talking out of your arse. Haha they care??? I don't think so moron.
@@callumcc8897 he is senile at early age
Funny how this video completely changes depending on when you watched it
hopefully Brad Fiedel can come back and score the films to bring back that Terminator sound we all miss from the first two films
Hollyweird never learns, they act like untouchable gods now, completely out of touch with reality, even after fucking up their franchises in order to pander to the zionist narrative/agenda. 3 Terminator fuck ups in a row, the franchise needs Cameron in the director's chair after 3 different directors have given us sub-par sequels but he is so arrogant he wants to do crap no one is really interested in instead of at least give us another awesome Terminator movie with all his detail.
ldl0021 Bruh, I was just thinking that! The score for part 2 is one of the best ever!!!
Somehow, hearing Cameron say is a new trilogy and that Linda Cameron will return to teach everyone how it's done...I suspect John Connor will be successfully killed and it will be up to Sarah Connor (and a young female semi lead, maybe John's daughter) to lead humanity against the robots. Even if it is a forced feminist propaganda stuff it sounds like a great twist to the story-line...but at the same time it will invalidate the first 2 movies.
The first two movies are the only ones i own!
T2 soundtrack is the ONLY soundtrack in the world that lives with you after you go home. really what else is there that matches the sheer Awesomeness of T2 score. The themes for each character and for each sequence is done so nicely that I am getting goosebumps remembering when the first time I saw T2.
The score is so important, bring back Brad Fiedel!!!
the goal keeper?
PJ Dexter I concur! *raises goblet*
PJ Dexter hell fucking yeah!!!
PJ Dexter Please and MORE FUTURE WAR SCENESSSS
ahaha
This did not age well... pack of lies
James Cameron endorsed Genisys so I cant believe a word he says about dark fate.
This aged well
and it was true. movie was garbage
You were right
Lets just hope the makers continually remind themselves that the Terminator is a cold-blooded killing machine - and not a comedy character.
The loss of the dark tone kinda fucked up part 3.
It's sad.
I watched this discussion, probably about ten times in the two year lead-up to what became Terminator: Dark Fate. So much of what these guys said excited me - particularly Cameron's gusto about intelligently getting back into the weeds of the story of his creative first-born. There's enough exciting discussion and concept thrown around to give you the idea that they were building towards a truly worthy Terminator sequel.
But they didn't care about Terminator. Not the Terminator we all know and love. Not the characters. Certainly not the mythology.
You wouldn't know it by watching this, necessarily, but the only thing that gets Cameron excited about Terminator is the idea of A.I. That's it. He doesn't care about the stories he started decades ago - he considers them finished. He doesn't care about the iconography - he considers it tarnished. Really, this was only an opportunity to take the model of Terminator and try and tell a story about today's technology - that was the only thing he was in it for.
First Dark Fate failed the mythology and characters, then it failed us, the audience. It should come as no surprise that people who love the Terminator movies, expect the filmmakers making a sequel, to love them too, and to honor it.
Again, sad to watch this video. If you knew nothing else about Dark Fate, you would think they were making an honorable follow-up. They blew it.
100%
Norman reedus could totally play an older John Connor. They have a similar look and demeanor. He’s rugged and distressed. What do you think?
yeah u r right....what a great idea
I can absolutely see that!
I was thought Norman looked liked an older Edward Furlong too....
@@AceDeclan But look at him now. Norman Reedus would be perfect.
I don't think John Connor is even in this the adult version anyway which is fucking bullshit
Message to James Cameron: quit tip toeing around the fact that only YOU will ever be able to make another good terminator film and worthy sequel to T2.
Well I would have thought he could but had no idea he was so woke. When you go woke you have no business in movies any longer. He’s done.
@@ENDWOKEDEGENERACY but remember he didn't make this film
Oh god I hope they make the film as dark and violent as the originals. The originals were so bleak and cold, the T-1000 was terrifying and unstoppable. Must, must be dark and violent, a true sci-fi, horror thriller.
Trust me it won’t be anywhere near as dark or bleak as we want it to be! 🤦🏽♂️
I didn’t hate T3. Stupid humour and fact they toned the violence down didn’t help. But film had good action and effects overall. This looked computer game CGI. After the ground breaking effects of T2. Poor.
Have you seen the trailer? Sorry didn't want to kill your hope 😬
@Connor F Jesus Christ. I know they're adding a "progressive" flavour with the casting, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything else good is going to be sacrificed to accommodate it.
@.skyNet Thing is, while the story and the Terminators were "dark and bleak and grim", that provided a wonderful backdrop for the humanity and hopes of the trying-to-survive human characters to shine against. IF the characters in this one have character beyond "vagina", it might work. But that hasn't been a Hollywood strong point, has it?
I need your clothes, your reboots, & your motorcycle.
Listen, and understand! The Studio is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are dead!

The only "Bad Dream" was Dark Fate, and the Box Office results think so too. Seriously, this movie can fuck right off and take it's legacy-destroying vandalism with it. T2 is the GOAT and the true ending.
James Cameramen: We are pretending the other films were a bad dream.

Robert Baratheon cannot wait watch the 4k version of T2
He's retired. But Joe Pesci was too, and he is going to be in The Irishman. Brad Fiedel was a fucking beast making soundtracks. The theme from T2 can make you smile, cry, and even make you feel fear. But there is too the editor, the cinematographer, and they will be the same persons who worked in Deadpool film, so. I don't know. If they will put Junkie XL as composer, I will accept it with gratitude.

BolusTube The director of Deadpool...a fucking superhero movie...oh god this is gonna be a cgi crapfest...
Really? I disagree with you on that. I think Deadpool was very well directed.
Too bad Cameron has turned into George Lucas and endorsed Genysis and said T3 was a great movie
irishfish the man also liked the first Alien vs Predator. His taste in movies is probably weird.
What a fucking let down! When I watched this interview years ago I actually had faith they weren't going to fuck this one up and they went and arguably made the worst terminator film yet!
Don't listen to the critics saying this is the best since T2, this movie is just as awful as the previous 3 films. A complete embarrassment.
Lol when I watched dark fate this is like a other story telling in the interview

John Boko Show Yea but the director Miller loves the first 2 films and understands why the fans love it. He is making the movie just like those. Cameron involved will make it even better. Plus Doyer wrote the script with Cameron , he is highly acclaimed. Plus the cherry on top Junkie Xl is doing the musical score. I think it will be a fantastic film.
@@maforo85 Junkie XL music imo is a hit and miss, I understand Tim want to make a film that respects the original two but it will not be up to par with those films despite that Cameron is involved with the project Goyer is not a good writer he's the reason Batman v Superman sucked and caused the DCEU and Snyder vision to fail besides the studio interference.
@@maforo85 We don't know if it will be a "fantastic film" til we see some trailers.
Please bring back Brad Fidel to compose the soundtrack. He was vital to the terminator movies just like James Cameron and Gale Ann Hurd.
He left the industry unfortunately
Junkle XL will make the score :)
Also instrumental I think was the way T2 was lit; that eerie blue hue the night scenes display.
I agree. Brad Fidel is to Terminator as Mark Morgan is to Fallout as John Williams is to Star Wars as Ennio Morriconne is to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly as Matt Uelmen is to Diablo.
@Sub Zero I was unaware. Thank you
One of things I like most about Cameron is his attention to detail in his movies. He makes them believable.
So in the first two films SkyNet was the bad guy and Linda Hamilton wasn't a huge female hero and inspiration to millions of girls and women. Really. And now John Conner isn't the future savior of the human race, now all of a sudden it's some girl, for what reason?? PC culture strikes again.
Great interview. Went from “ there’s a new Terminator?” To “Going to watch this on opening night”
As soon as he said the movies after 2 could be considered a bad dream, I immediately clicked the like button.
It's called the sandwich technique: Say something nice at the beginning, put the bad news in the middle and say something nice again at the end.
Cameron endorsed part 5 in interviews I don’t trust him.
@Varangian Guard Yeah but he specifically says in this interview that it ISN'T just going to be a meaningless effort full of special effects......

No, that will happen after the next one when Cameron and hollyweird sees that Linda Hamilton alone cannot make a third one a worthy successor. After the 2019 fiasco, some studio exec will pressure Cameron into directing another one because everything else failed and he will do it, with Hamilton, Fiedel, Furlong, Arnold and a $300 million dollar budget with almost no CGI and filmed with FILM.

J.C. L. Man, we should just be happy that cameron is back. He hasnt touched the franchise in 25 years. This is like a dream come true for fans. I still dont believe its happening. Im cautiously excited, because it sounds too good to be true... The Terminator franchise is finally getting a sequel, a true sequel.
The director is proven, key cast members are back. The most important part is the director seems so excited, seems like a passion project. Sounds like a recipe for success.
I feel like the single best use of the franchise/license since the first two is that television series. The time travel and concepts were well explored. I really feel like that last episode was just so satisfying and jaw dropping and it made the Sam Worthington one so tragic because WTF
Blakkheim, Cameron will endorse it, like he endorsed the crap that was T3 and the crap that was Genysis.
Was awesome to see Tim get choked up. You can tell he takes great pride in the work of himself and his team. Hes very proud of everyone because it brought them to a new stage, making a new Terminator film with James Cameron, Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Congrats fella!
just a friendly reminder that James Cameron endorsed terminator genysis and said it was a return to the terminator legacy. He only cares about getting your money, folks, he doesnt care about making a good movie
This is probably THE dream team for a legitimate Terminator reboot: Cameron will actually be involved in the script this time and Miller, being a big nerd, has a great respect for source material and also has a huge background in special effects. Miller knows what's up, he knows what a true fan wants the franchise to be. It couldn't be better!
I'm actually very confident. This is it, people! We'll have a legit reboot this time around!
I wished Neil Blomkamp directed the new Terminator instead.

If this doesn't work they need to let it go.
Agreed. If this bombs - which, this being James Cameron, is highly unlikely - they should retire the franchise for now and ever more. In my mind, if that happens, I will pretend that 3 - 7 never happened, much like I pretend that the Star Wars prequels were never made and don't exist....
It wont work, hollywood is in big trouble, they must need the money bad to say the last 3 films were a dream. No way can it ever be as good as before the world has changed. They would to have the same budget as the first film to deliver a profitable film.
oh please. the irony of the line 'ill be back' means the series will never die. A senile old arnold will infiltrate his own retirement home and blast away arthur, ethel and doris because in the future they become who even fucking cares. T1 -GREAT. T2- GREAT. the rest? fuck off.
Funny you mention SW prequels there considering that what came after was even WORSE.....and no I'm not talking about Rogue One here, that was atleast somewhat good.
stitcha123 that's my point
It’s such a shame Tim Miller made a shit pointless movie, I think even Linda and Arnold don’t hold up in this movie due to the bad dialogue
King Herb I agree. I left the theatre yesterday and I thought the movie was ok but something hit me when I went home. I realized that this movie was no different than Genisys and the movies that came before it. They completely rehashed of what happened in the first two films without it really even being canon. They took the one hope for humanity and one of the most beloved characters in the Terminator franchise and Dark Fate was a complete FU to all of us. The only difference is that the main protagonist is now a female. I honestly believe this film was simply just a cash grab to attract the PC culture that we live in today and it’s sad. All most of us ever wanted was for John Conner to actually be in a future war. Is it really that hard? Seriously screw this movie.

Make it it Hard Rated R.
Bobby Solorio fuck yes 😍😍
Never gona happen, its a mainstream franchise and things don't need to be rated R to be good, T2 wasn't rated R, people need to get off this fucking rating shit. Ratings are not what make good films. If you need your pathetic little gore fest there are more than enough other R rated films for that.
As Tim miller is doing it, it's a possibility

Actually, Terminator 2 WAS rated R back in 1991.
There were at least 20 F words in it and the violence was far too graphic for a PG-13 even to this day.
I know, I own the Blu Ray set and just saw it the other day!
Doesn't really change what I said in any case, a rating is not what makes a film good, T2 isn't good cos its got lots of violence, its good cos it took the story to a second level which was the relationship between the robot and a boy, whereas the first was just about the robot trying to kill them and Kyle's PTSD. Which is why the 3rd failed cos they weren't telling any new story and there was still all the violence, means nothing without a good plot. @@mikethompson1895

45:41 Tim: "All I'm focused on is make is this movie and making it great."
45:44 Cameron: "Make a greate movie don't f*up."
I don't get it, from what Cameron says they worked months on story. And yet the movie is mainly weak on story part.
For me T2 is perfect the best action movie ever made. And why ... all actors in T2 are Great and equally Great is music, story, script, costumes, and O my God visuals and CG effects (almost 30 years old CG holds up), T2 is on level of quality you forget that you are watching a movie and you get impresion of reality. Only a few films are on that level.

It's a pity that Dark Fate Cameron has not tried to raise the bar or approach him.

Cameron says the same shit every time he is involved with a Terminator movie
Agreed. Love his older movies but can't trust him anymore.
1: DON'T make it PG-13.
2: James Cameron must only direct.
3: Beg Michael Biehn, Edward Furlong (after begging him to lose weight) and Robert Patrick to come back.
4: ABSOLUTELY BARE MINIMUM CGI. Use practical effects and CGI in combination, no excuses.
5: Do REAL stunts with real vehicles and real explosions.
6: Just do everyone a favour and name it Terminator 3.
7: PLEASE DON'T SUCK
You're so right, dammit!
1. Pandering to feminists with "a new female lead" will make it PG-13.
2. Already said he is not directing due to probably Hamilton being demanded to star by a jewish executive. Cameron hates his ex-wife.
3. Biehn's character will almost certainly be in it but it has to be a young man. Furlong is in Lara Flynn Boyle shape and soul level of un-cooperation, Patrick...the same as with Biehn's character.
4. Jewish execs are giving Cameron's team less than 2 years to complete the project, they will rely heavily on CGI because thats trending among Hollyweirders in order to reduce shooting time. It doesn't matter what they say, reality says otherwise.
5. Already explained in 4.
6. It will have a catchy and fancy name. Won't give it a number because of the planned multi sequels, they think T7 in a few years will sound ridiculous.
7. It will be a good but forgettable flick. Miller isn't a bad director, but he overuses digital color filters (trending in Hollywood too right now) which cheapens movies. Also, the added feminist pandering will give you a 1.70m chick (the new female lead) kicking a 2 meters size terminator actor ass, which will make it unrealistic and will make the movie SUCK.
J.C. L. I hate to admit it but you are right. Number 4,5 and 7 bring a tear to my eye.
You're goddamn right

There's plenty of reason why and it shouldn't have to be explained to you. Like seriously are you living under a rock? having said that you can see the clear chemistry between the two as if they are cooking up something really good.

Very Very Very ... Very cautiously.

To be cautiously optimistic is admirable considering the shit show that used to be Hollywood.
Are they bringing back the original john? If not then its going to be flawed. Tbh I would have been excited to see the Christian bale trilogy. The future war happening is exciting and would be cool to see
@Jean-Philippe Leblanc-Paré sounds interesting. Its unfortunate they , in this new movie, have replaced John with the new young female who will apparently save the future, it basically shits on the whole premise of the franchise for a feminist agenda. Its a movie we have seen 4 times. Bad terminator goes to the past to terminate future resistance, save the young one from the future that young one will save. Its so surprising they didnt come up with a better idea.
Too true!!
T4 (Salvation) is where they needed to go. The war with the machines and those stories. Not rehashing the same plotline in more convoluted ways that's been going on since 1984. I thought Bale could've grown into a great John Connor.
@@zoso1980 yeah it was interesting, thats the most intriguing part the first time I saw terminator was the scenes of the future war and the idea that the war was inevitable was actually a cool twist and raised the bar ALOT because it was basically all or nothing at that point
He said young woman. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH A WOMAN STAR, but these movies need to stop forcing the woman is the star issue. Just make the movie and make it work. These movies keep coming out and the woman in the main role keeps pulling, "I'm a woman and you can't stop me." or "You're holding me back because I'm a woman." LET HER ACTIONS PROOVE EVERTYHING. Linda Hamilton and Sigourney Weaver have always been amazing and NEVER had to force anything about being a woman. Their actions proved everything and they have great movies.
Ja a injecting feminism
Again, If you can act and people love your part, then it will speak for itself. You don't have to push anything on anyone by constantly reminding the people watching you what you are over and over again.
You’re assuming they’re making a female the main lead just because feminism. Grow up and stop being a pussy about everything. Roles can change. They could literally change the race, the age range, etc, and it would not matter, besides it just being a major change for reboot purposes. Having a female lead and making it obvious that it’s a forced feminist message is one thing. Having a female lead at all and calling it feminist and bitching about it is another. Stop making comments like these. You look just as bad, if not stupider than the feminists you’re making fun of.

Forget terminator...remake alien 3 and pretend that didnt happen
Almost happened under director Niel Blopkin but 20th Century Fox put it on halt in favor for Ridley Scotts vision for Alien Covenant and finally canceled it.
where were you guys in the last 3 films? Made us wait 20 years for this.
They did not have the rights for Terminator till now
@@zackfair_og Because dumbass James sold it for a dollar.
Eventually Dark Fate made Genisys looks like Citizen Kane
James Cameron is a crazy genius
Sophie Odair It's nice to see someone from your generation appreciate a genius like Jim!😊
^^ White Knight
yeah he is , 2 bad he's wasting his time on those fucking crap avatar films no1 gives a shit about
Sophie Odair He Is Great. But Avatar Is Shit Good Thing Is 3D
You can ask Ellison and Cameron both but they aren't in agreement. io9.gizmodo.com/a-history-of-plagiarism-claims-against-james-cameron-690974718
Everybody has an opinion about what gives the Terminator it's weight, I'm not expecting any higher consideration, but here goes.
Terminator works when it's an R-rated monster movie. When you trivialize the threat a Terminator coming at you presents - the characters just happen to stumble across a working Barrett 50 Cal loaded with tungsten core rounds - or you Tween it down to a PG-13 and consequences of getting cornered by an unarmed Terminator is to get thrown through flimsy sheetrock and left dazed, it's reduced to b-grade sci-fi (which strangely enough doesn't use the Terminator archetype at all, one would think one of the humanoid Cylons of Battlestar Galactica would be an unstoppable golem).
The minigun scene of Terminator 2 really helped sell the idea that just *one* T-800 is capable of bringing a metropolitan city to a standstill, and there really isn't a huge difference in firepower between a 90's SWAT team and today's, or the type of ordinance they'd bring to a first encounter.
When the Terminator has weight, *then* the all-seeing SkyNet and the idea of blanketing the globe with robots after a world-wide nuclear strike becomes something you'd be desperate to stop. When you're one of two or three people aware of a problem beyond the grasp of billions of Instagram / CNN / Netflix junkies and everyone you try to alert compounds the obstacles you face, then you have characters who have to actually struggle to save the world.
ViktorKing
Agreed, I think they need to make terminators scary again. If a Terminator gets close enough to touch you it should be the last thing you ever see.
Let's be clear; kids sneak into R-rated movies, get an older sibling or parent to buy them a ticket. Kids can watch R-rated, and when they get to, they feel like they're doing something even more exciting. And only the cool kids will have seen the movie and get to talk about it. Also, the movie will eventually make more money when the kids who couldn't watch it, finally do get to watch it. Anyway... making something PG-13 just alienates adults more than kids. Then you have whole families and annoying kids in the theater that can't handle it.
👏👏👏
God they made it sound soooo promising. How was there such a disconnect between the final product and this?!
i was soo hyped by this interview, until i see the trailers but i keep hope... then i see the movie and it was worst than Genysis and T3
T 1-2 are still the best. These new ones 🤮
The way these two talk about each other kinda gives me the feeling that they have made something unstoppable. I'm looking forward to it!
I really, really hope Cameron/Miller use the fact that the 101's arm was found in the factory at the end of T2 or executives from Cyberdyne were able to salvage some of Dyson's work from his home before it could all be destroyed to form the story for the new Terminator film.
I always thought it would be convenient to just let them find some splashes of liquid metal as it was blown all over the place in the final scene :-)
I mean, what can you telll from a crushed piece of hydraulic metal? ...Maybe nothing much - but instead, what possibilities do you have with a radically advanced technology that has all the information in every single tiny piece of it?
This would also have to be the opening scene for Cameron's T3. Revisiting the factory in that moment right after the finale, cyberdyne executives finding evidence and stuff. Then jumping forward to present time.
i dont. they manage to recreate an entire t-800 from just an arm? oh behave yourself.
SpielSatzFail it's the chip that was beyond today's technology not the arm!!!
hague444
Please read my comment again. I'm talking about the T1000's technology. You're welcome.
SpielSatzFail sorry my bad! Could be a combination of both the liquid metal and the t 800 arm
this aged well. remember watching this excited for something fresh and not another rehash.
more fool me.
I wish someone would send a Terminator back in time to stop this from beeing made!
seriously....they look passionate about it, the movie was a 6/10 at best ... :(
Ah, the sense of hopefulness and the promise of redemption for the franchise I felt while watching this THR video when it came out. How could I not have? It has Cameron's official blessing, Hamilton reprising her role, the _Deadpool_ director at the helm, and all that talk about pretending that every installment after T2 was a bad dream. I was like _YES! Finally!_ Then... the trailer came out. :-\
I've dreamed for years that James Cameron would come back and do another Terminator (I originally wanted him to make T3 and cap the series with a trilogy) but after 3 movies since T2 and Cameron working on Avatar it seemed it was close to impossible for my dream to come true, now here he is working on Terminator again after all theses years, I am probably the happiest movie buff on the planet right now, the terminator franchise is basically my Star Wars so this is basically like George Lucas coming back to make another Star Wars film (bit of a bad example I know but you get my point haha) I just really hope he hasn't become like Ridley Scott and fucks up his own franchise like Prometheus & Alien Covenant
FrostyBiggens ridley hasn't fucked anything , the Aliens fan boys think its fucked ......me being a huge Alien fan can see than nothing is fucked , just because he wanted to make a movie that wasn't what you thought it was doesn't mean its fucked
watching Prometheus was amazing. i was dumbfounded by the entire plot and all the while, little clues were strewn throughout the entire movie telling the audience what they're watching. as soon as the movie ended and i realised what it was, i was impressed and it made me so happy to have no clue it was practically cannon until it was too late. the best movie without a twist had the best reveal.
covenant was alright too.
if anything, more movies which are cannon but involve entirely new plot lines, shouldn't ever hold the title of the series. Prometheus, is a movie before the story of Alien. no mention in the title, no give away in the trailer as far as i remember. over my years of watching movies, i've grown tired of "[insert name and number in series] : [insert catchy subtitle]" method of movie names. sure it keeps movies in check and order, but who really cares? if the movie stands on it's own, and doesn't rely on previous information so heavily, it should just have a stand alone title. Prometheus is a prime example of this for me. i suppose Rogue One kinda does the same too. it's in the universe of Star Wars cannon but it's not actually Star Wars, it's "A Star Wars Story" and the coming spin offs will have the same sub title because they're not relevant to the main plot, barring characters names and locations. i haven't seen Rogue One but i fully endorse the stand alone title.
just sayin'.
There's no way it's going to be any good.
I wish hed just forget about the Avatar sequels. The first was mediocre, and in no need of a sequel, let alone 10 already planned, WTF?
Main character of Avatar was so boring, villian was beyond cliche, and story was cliche crap. It seems they focused too hard on the new special effects technology, that they forgot about everything else. Avatar doesn't even seem like a James Cameron movie. Avatar seems nothing like T1, T2, Aliens, and True Lies.
True Lies was itself a remake of La Totale
Ok.... this is officially real. This is actually happening. I havent felt this happy since Marvel brought Spider-Man in the MCU. This is crazy.
Jose Rodriguez amen bro
Jose Rodriguez Fuck all superhero movies. Pg 13 CGI crap.
Jose Rodriguez SAME
I am angry and I DON'T WANT THIS AT ALL.
I wanted Cameron back, but I WANT THE FUTURE WAR.
There is no where left TO GO but the Future War when it comes to Terminator. We just need to see the original timeline play out with Aug 29,1997 being Judgement Day and going to the point where the 3 time travelers go back in time. THAT IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED.
I was reluctant with another Terminator but as long as Jim Cameron is involvedly have hope.I hope it does well like Mad Max:Fury Road and Blade Runner 2049.
Why the both bluffed so much about the new terminator dark fate? It’s a shame and so much disrespectful. It was a waste of money to produce this movie is a really bad movie again. Just one nice thing to see Linda and Arnie for the last time together!
The Terminator (1984)
Terminator 2: Judgment Dat (1991/2017)
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
Terminator 4: Salvation (2009)
Terminator 5: Genesis (2015)
Terminator 6: Dark Fate (2019)
This was an absolutely fantastic interview and my level of optimism for the movie has increased massively. Tim Miller to me really gets what made T1 and T2 so special and I can't wait to see what they do with the movie. However, there are a few steps which they need to take in order for the first film to be successful so they can get the other 2 movies greenlit.
First, the title. I don't want this to be called Terminator: (insert next word here). In order to get people to people to the theatre, they really should call this movie James Cameron's Terminator 3: (again insert word here). Even though Cameron isn't director, his name at the front will get a lot of people into the theatre, especially if his Avatar sequel smashes the box office once again.
Secondly, make the movie in a similar vein to how the first one was made, a limited budget, a tight script, well written characters, a terrifying nemesis and for god's sake make it god damn rated R. Any true Terminator fan will tell you that these movies can not be softened down for general audiences.
All these things combined I think will make the new movie a success and then they can double down on the next 2 movies like Cameron did with T2.
Terminator 3D.
I really want to see a Terminator horror film. Make a twist. To delete the big action and bring us some horror/science fiction film, like the first one. Make something different. After all, The Terminator is a slasher. It's a futuristic view of something like Halloween.
Tim Miller, in fact, did NOT get what made T1 and T2 special
Their excitement is contagious and has me so pumped! Can't wait.

they will fuck it up again, they will go the SJW/CGI heavy route once again and will re-introduce anti white anti Trump elements. Terminator needs Cameron directing, Fiedel's music and written with 80's grittiness in order to be great.
“Just shut up, James. You’re embarrassing yourself.”
I can't believe how bad they messed this up.....or maybe I can
Its basicly genisys 2.
Genisys is better than this piece of shit will be
I hope not. But I'm pretty unimpressed with the dull looking endoskeleton/liquid metal terminator.
I hope they can put a truly interesting spin that isn't easily perceived in the trailer.
James what a shame on poor choice of director, story, script and poor choice of characters. It is only Arnold and Linda Hamilton adds gravitas to this movie.
But even the both of them sucked. Sarah Connor says she isn't important and calls the lest interesting woman character 'John'. Terminator kills John and has a family with a woman whom he isn't physically active with. hahahah what a joke!
James Cameron-“ and we are pretending the other films were a bad dream, or an alternate universe”
Thanks for coming back Cameron
"We are pretending that the other films were a bad dream"... THANK GOD!!
And now they continued the bad tradition themselves instead.
0:20 Don't worry, Cameron. We are going to do the same with your and Tim Miller's crap you call Dark Fate.
This sounded so good, but the trailer looks like Genisys 2.0. What the hell happened?
Right
Genisys trailer was better more hipe but dark fate trailer idk but i know dark fate would be better film there not showing all the scene in the trailer
That bad to the bone scene has immortalised into the lexicon of pop culture.
Watched Dark Fate, as a fan of this franchise for almost 30 years, I think this is really a good farewell, a gift from the directors. I love T1+T2+T3, and now I welcome T6 to my collection.
This movie needs James as director. With Tim it won't be anywhere near as good as the first two. James is wasting his time with Avatar.
Agreed. Nobody gives a shit about Avatar. I challenge anybody reading this comment to name 5 characters from that movie without looking it up, it's impossible. Only reason it broke records was because of the stunning use of CGI and good marketing, that's it. The movie itself was extremely average.
@@greigtoye ok i feel like a nerd for doing this but: jake sully, neyteeri, dr. augustine, moat, tsu tey. and i only know that cause i've seen the movie over 20 times. i'm a huge cameron fanboy and even though this may sound like a basic bitch thing to say, I genuinely believe titanic and avatar are two of the greatest movies ever made
@@greigtoye avatar broke boundaries. Avatar is a challenge. Avatar creatively gets your imagination running wild as a developer.
Terminator doesn't anymore. Terminator is a dead horse
@@guileniam Avatar is merely a backdrop to test out cutting edge CGI, in that regard sure, it's revolutionary. However, it literally has nothing else going for it apart from that. I've seen it at least 4 or 5 times and I still can't remember what happens.
The Terminator franchise has been run into the ground no doubt, but the foundations are solid. Everyday we creep closer and closer to AI becoming a reality, and since Terminator explores those issues I feel if done right by people who actually know what the fuck they're doing we could see some really terrifying and intriguing stuff.
Wish Michael bein was able to come back
sidney he might. they are being very close lipped about shit which i respect. that pissed me off with kingsman 2 trailers like wtf i hated going in knowing harry was still alive
His acting was incredible! Underestimated if you ask me.
well look at him now...
Andy Belarus Umm, that was a deleted scene was from 1992 lol.
1-2 Perfection
3-4 Some okay movies. They had great scenes and horrible scenes
5 One of the worst sequels i have ever seen
now 6 (3?) is coming up... i kinda lost hope...
@Daniel Justin u are absolutely right dude :)
Milchael - i thought that terminator 3 was good .i dont know why people think it sucked
@@kingmosesrichardson1548 well, if u compare it to 1&2 it sucks. But seen objectively it's a ok-good movie. I think that's the reason why people don't like this film.
Ouh, and Linda Hamilton was missing
This is exactly how I see this franchise!
@Daniel Justin I agree, mostly. I didn't like the John Connor character, though. We should, by that point in his life, be able see SOMETHING in his character that would eventually lead him to become a great leader, strategist, heroic fighter, etc. And he was kind of a whiny bitch. Other than a poor job there, the movie was fine. Well, okay at least.
The major piece that made the first two movies unique... the thing that the previous three movies were missing...and from seeing the new trailer, this movie will be lacking as well, is the ambiance. That feeling of dread that permeated T1 and T2. The industrial soundtrack, the dark lighting and the overall notion of doom that filled the scenes between the action. They were missing the aspect of "tech-noir" that made the franchise what is was. Hopefully this new movie will heavily incorporate it, but from what I'm seeing so far, we have just another ho-hum scifi action thriller on our hands.
"It is the element of stalking "
T1 and Haloween are very much a like in that regard. A helpless young defenceless woman is chased by a relentless impervious killer. That element is lacking from Salvation, Genesys and in Dark fate. There is no real sense of dread or the main character is in mortal danger.
Yeah. I noticed that too. There were a lot more night time scenes in the first two
A few years ago, back when IMDB had discussion boards, I had posted something that said James Cameron should announce that he was going to do a third Terminator film and say forget everything that came after the 2nd film.
845835ab
And......
Andrew Fishburn It's nice to see that it actually happened because it had looked as though Cameron was never going to return to the franchise, especially when you consider how busy he is with Avatar.
should be titled 'artificial intelligence and the dangers of terminator reboot'.
Jonathan Mostow, McGee, and Alan Taylor are all probably laughing after seeing it this weekend.
When you say "just ignore the other movies", you better bring some real mindblowing shit with this one.
The dude is crying he's so happy to have his same crew back and he's sitting next to James f'n Cameron *Turns hype dial to 11* I'm invested i hope it makes it through the creation process.
November 1st. Tons of positive reactions to test footage. Im excited
For the love of God, release *Terminator 1* on Blu-ray with the original mono, for goodness 's sake. After that, feel free to make whatever.
That can be attained on DVD but yeah, not on blu ray unfortunately.
hanshotfirst1138 Or...You can just use the mono setting on your sound system, loser!
"Or...You can just use the mono setting on your sound system, loser!"
You're an idiot. The 5.1 mix on the Blu-ray is a completely different mix than the original mono mix, including completely different sound effects. Using the "mono setting" while playing the 5.1 mix doesn't magically restore the original mix / sound effects.
I saw T1 last night for the first time and I realized god what a great movie, T2 was a T800 vs T1000 but Kyle Reese was fucking human against a killing machine and he still kept Sarah alive. Long live T1 long Live Kyle Reese
They need to have Brad Fiedel's original theme and the practical special effects for this to have a hope
1 year later....generic orchestral music from beginning to the end (oh beside that one remix in credits), 90% of the movie effects are CGI....bad CGI.
Damn, this panel is one part nostalgia of old Terminator movies, one part excitement for a new one, one part relief that it will ignore the later sequels and start fresh, one part fascinating discussion of AI and deep-learning programs and one part fear/anticipation that AI could become self-aware within our life-times. Talk about a heavy discussion!
Expectations are higher than the stratosphere now. Zero room for error. The real T3 better be magnificent!
James Cameron: When Genisys came out who told us all to watch it because it was good.
James Cameron now: We're pretending the other movies are a bad dream.
You're full of shit sometimes Jim.
a person can't change his mind? Lol
I haven't been in love with Cameron since Titanic hated that movie also avatar
He was paid to say that about Genesys.
I genuinely believe his thinks Genisys is a great film. I believe he’s talking about the other Terminator films - like the ones that have Sarah dead.
Well he did want to say something fresh.. he's definitely managed that. 🤣🤣
The first 2 movies, I grew up watching them, a masterpiece of cinema and science fiction, I want to see more original content and James Cameron making them. The future war of humanity, light vs darkness, hope vs dispair, and the T-800 making history.
