- Mike Slades Icap Leopard, tussling for line honours with the two mini maxis Bella Mente from the USA and Niklas Zennstrom's RAN, the two times Fastnet Trophy winner. Or will it be Ian Walker's Volvo 70 Abu Dhabi, the course record holder from 2011?

It would, especially in rolling waves.
Scott Mitchell No, there are so many other drag factors in a sailboat that open or closed deck plan is insignificant.

id watch these races but then again i wan sail so bad on my own any where like captain jack sparrow

Fastnet is named after Fastnet Rock.. UK 🇬🇧.. The race is organised by the RORC Royal Ocean Race Club, plus the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes and the Royal Yacht Club in Plymouth. Nothing to do with the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia 🇦🇺.. besides The Rolex Sydney Hobart is held annually. The Fastnet is biennial. Wild Oats has done the Transpacific Race winning in 2015. I’m pretty sure has not done the Fastnet unlike Comanche whom won in 2015 & also took line honours in 2015. If my memory serves correct WildOats XI was in the lead until Comanche communicated with a helicopter crew who told them the type & colour of the sail she had up. Allowing them to predict her wind & go around in a stronger breeze. WildOats XI is currently been put up for sale.
