Fantastic boats, teams and racing...I think this is what SailGP should be...Pete Burling doing us proud...and Outeridge as part of Team NZ, a bit of a shock but an awesome addition to the team
Your kidding right? SailGP is more relevant than the Americas Cup these days. Better boats in SailGP, Better racing, Better rules. On top of all that its reintroduced sailing to the mases and has created a massive following across the globe for the sport.
Have to disagree..I enjoy the racing in Sail GP but the commentators leave alot to be desired...and...theres only one sailing race in the WORLD that counts....and thats the.... AMERICAS CUP!...@@nuclearpenguin3046
I spent about half of each race covered in goosebumps when I watched them the day after on ThreeNow+ in NZ. I am not a sailor, and I do not like sailing, usually equating it with putting on every item of clothing you own, and standing in a cold shower tearing up big wads of hundred dollar bills non-stop. But today I am addicted to SailGP and with AC starting up with such a bang, we can all relax, because the future of sailing is assured, and the boats will continue to be even more and more mind boggling. Does anyone care to guess when onboard technology will reach the level where the immersed foil can be encapsulated by a cavitation bubble created by high pressure air released at the leading edge? I envisage a reservoir which would allow perhaps a minute of super fast sailing, as drag drops to almost nothing inside a cavitation bubble. It would act just like a Drag Reduction System (DRS) system on an F1 car. FYI: The Russians have a supercavitating torpedo called Skhval which cruises at 370km/h once its supercavitation bubble is created and maintained.
"...usually equating it with putting on every item of clothing you own, and standing in a cold shower tearing up big wads of hundred dollar bills non-stop." Beautiful and illustrative.
The young Italian deserve to be in the Final and they showed real pace throughout the regatta and kept the pressure on throughout the last race. Unfortunately one mistake by them robbed us of an exciting finish, but take nothing away from Prada Pirelli a very impressive debut by their young helmen. 6 from 9 races for Emirate Team New Zealand didn't show how the other teams pushed them all the way. Well done Team New Zealand.
Even sitting here in the USA, it's hard to root for anyone except NZ. That boat is SO BEAUTIFUL! Whoever designed the colors should give lessons to all the others.
Absolutely brilliant sailing from all challenges. Congratulations EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND 🇳🇿 Thoroughly deserved to WIN 🏆 I ENJOYED WATCHING EVERY BIT OF THE RACE!!! GUESS WHAT…I’m a KIWI YEAY 😂😂😂👏👏👏🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Nathan. You and the boys are doing hreat job. Can make it faster and faster please Nathan and Burling. I am watching the racing, Love yous all guys.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the great coverage. As constructive criticism, I do wish the crosstalk was not on constantly. It's mostly unintelligible and distracting, at least to my ears. Also, the overlay graphics can make things hard to watch when they're moving too much or are too in the foreground. SailGP had this problem early on but has mostly fixed their graphics problems, so I hope this will be improved for America's Cup races as well. Still, it's amazing technology that will probably make it easier for people to become interested in the sport.
WELL DONE ETNZ. WELL DONE BOYS YOU'VE STILL ON THE TOP. SORRY NOYS . FASTER BOAT NEEDED AT THESE KIND OF RACES. CAUSE ALL THE NOATS ARE VERY FASTER.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
New crew. Tricky handling. Fluky winds. Non-optimal communications. Less than perfect boat management. Inexperience. Nerves. Mistakes. Bad luck. Insufficient attention to wind changes. Any of these is my guess.
I was baffled by this as well. The second race they were 60seconds out from making the start line and on wrong side. First race they were across and heading to boundary. It's as if they had no intention of racing. I should probably watch the 3rd to see if there is an explanation. Nobody can be that bad.
In race 8, peccato. Bravissimi, ragazzi. Ci vediamo alla prossima AC!
Fantastic high speed match racing. The Italians performed superbly. But, with no mistakes and the Kiwis are difficult to beat. Make one mistake and they are guaranteed to win.
Realising why the youth & women's teams will share the boats, you must understand that the boats were originally 'trainers' that the seniors used while their 75 footers were being built. The seniors trained & competed with them at regattas, building up to this 37th AC, but now the youth & womens AC squads get to race in them. As there was only six of these boats built, due to rules set by the holder/defender of the cup, these six boats will have to make do?!.
Sono arrivato alla regata numero 4, per ora. Ho guardato le differenze di velocità nelle virate, sia LR che TNZ, scendono a 24/25 nodi, prima di riaccelerare... non vedo la situazione così critica...
Burling, why the Youtupe explain everything about the ETNZ boat? The PEOPLE explain on the Youtupe the way that NZ build their boat. But other boats just ETNZ. WHY.?❤❤❤❤❤

I’m really not happy with this new style of racing. These new boats are simply drag racers. They aren’t built for dueling. Three races and exactly 1 pass total.
