My first bike was a Ninja 500R, and I loved the positive neutral finder... Most of the time. Only drawback was that if you tried shifting into 2nd a little too soon after 1st, the bike would positively find neutral for you like a happy Labrador finding the human femur you "lost" in the garden.

I was a motorcycle salesman part time in 1982 or 83 .. actually sold motorcycles part-time for 17 years January through May
I sold a new Kawasaki to a customer. About a week later the following Saturday, I saw that customer strolling around the showroom. I said to him, are you going to move up to a bigger bike already? He said no I’m having problems with my transmission. I said, what is it doing. I was curious because previously I had been a motorcycle mechanic with three different dealerships over the years ..
He told me the motorcycle was not shifting correctly. I asked him to explain. And what he explained was-/
he was not able to shift up and to second while he was stopped. I explained to him, about the positive neutral feature.. I told him it is explained in his owners manual if he had read it.
Being part time, I was not the person that actually delivered the bike to him because I was at my regular job when he showed up for his new motorcycle… otherwise, I would have scheduled him to come in while I was there, if possible so I could explain the basics about that exact bike..
so I asked him where his bike was now, he can just go home because there’s no need to look into it any further.. he told me that the mechanic in the service department was working on it right now..
so we went back to the service department. Mechanic already had the motor out of the frame, and the engine case split...
then I had to explain how the transmissions on kawasaki’s work to the mechanic…

Some people are crazy. Why the F would you want to select second gear, standing still? Snow, maybe, but most hate snow. And that mechanic should have known. I'm not a Kawa bike owner, but it works for dorks who can't even feel neutral, or dorks who do not adjust the clutch cable. Maybe those oiled clutches and cold oil make finding neutral hard, but that should disappear when the engine gets warm. NEVER had neutral problems, no matter what bike. You simply need to feel what you do. Duh! Stupid bikers are the pain in the ass, not the bikes. Gee. So weird, this. Besides, only my T500 needed neutral, or twostroke oil pump would not work, on other bikes you pull the clutch, and you FORGET neurtral. At a stoplight, you never switch to neutral, you just don't, bad habit, right?

Because of the laws in the Netherlands beings stricter than in many other countries, Yamaha designed the bike with 5 gears, then simply left out first gear for the Dutch market and changed the chain gear ratio. You can't shift a Kawasaki into second gear until after the bike starts rolling, but when you're a tech like myself and you have to find an issue with the shift forks, shift drum, sliders, etc. it poses a problem for a stationary bike. You have to clear the rear tire and spin it by hand or remove the chain and front sprocket to spin the transmissions output shaft with a motorized tool. So, the technology is great until you have to work on it. 👌👍

I understand why you wouldn't want this on a super-high-performance Ducati doing 200, e.g., save every ounce of weight, more mechanisms means more to go wrong, etc...
