Totally. Using AI to change a film or show's aspect ratio is dumb. It makes the composition inherently worse as the artists working on the show intended the shots to fit nicely in the aspect ratio they were working with and unless done carefully by an someone who understands composition, it should not be resized at all. Same goes for frame interpolation and resizing low res footage. In animation every frame matters and has intent so adding unnecesaary frames completely ruins the pace, energy, character and soul the movement had. Resizing a low res image or video doesn't recover any actual detail, it just adds what the AI/computer thinks should be there which our human brains will always be better at. People who support and use any of these do not care about the artistic intent behind what they watch. Generative AI should never have been publicly available. It's unethical in so many ways in addition to stealing all kinds of artists' honest work.
The improvement from episode one to this is amazing, I can't even tell where the original drawing ends and your additions begin anymore It's like they were always there
Your journey is truly inspiring to me. I’ve always struggled with not doing something perfectly on my first go at it, which leads to never trying new things. So seeing someone else try and improve is really therapeutic! (Don’t get me wrong, even your work in the first video was impressive and so cool to see). I really hope Avatar studios notices your work!
I'm sort of the same way, but my girlfriend told me that I wouldn't release anything if I was striving for perfection and that I would get better along the way
It's funny, I'm a strong advocate of 4 by 3 and am not in the slightlest interested in watching a changed version of this show, but these videos are genuinely just fun, because it seems like a great painting exercise and i do feel like you get some insight into how certain scenes here were drawn / animated
Nice work! :) Noticed some misses: 14:31 The stick in the top left part of the roof just ends mid air. 16:59 New solider to the right is mirrored and therefore lit from the wrong side.
this looks great as always! you forgot a few sections of the characters during one of the blur scenes but aside from that it looks near flawless! would love to see you tackle one of the good fight scenes at some point in the future, hope that doesnt sound too intimidating.
How does this channel not have a billion subscribers already? Good luck on the impending huge boom in popularity this channel is hopefully teetering upon reaching.
I love it. Bonzu is a legend then he just left the series really fell off after that. lol, keep it up I subscribed at the first episode and I hope you have the ability to share this with the people at Avatar Studios one day. It needs to be noticed. Great work.
Each video looks better than the last! I'm loving the series so far. Only thing I would say is motion blurred katara looks a little out of place because i think her face is blurring in a different direction than Sokka's.
Awesome job again! Im hoping this leads to the whole series being expanded into 16:9 somehow. If you're looking at other series to do this, I suggest Batman The Animated Series!
If you are looking for a new series to remaster then I'd heavily suggest One Piece. - The first 206 episodes are all in 4:3 and a lot of fan would love to see some iconic scenes in 16:9, also the One Piece fandom is super active on youtube, so it would definitely bring a lot of new people to your channel.
wow you are getting like REALLY GOOD at this, it would be fun to start a gofund me or something so that maybe u can do this for every scene, or get a team of few passionate people to fully remaster avatar
If you're making this much headway on your own, Netflix, Paramount or anyone who actually has license over this property could do it in just a few months with a full team. And they had best hire you and pay you for the work you've already done. #ReleaseTheChunnyCut
If you're looking for other animation to touch up you should really consider Batman: The Animated Series. Its color on black paper look and slower shot movement would set it apart significantly from ATLA and give your creative mind some variety, which is visually the exact opposite
This is extremely cool, however I dislike how much it changes the original composition. Its the same problem I had when Seinfeld and Friends were reformatted for wide screens. It completely changes the vibe, makes the world feel fake and less lively. More dead space.
I’m not the best at art but your job should be pretty easy (not that it is easy) but the main focus (detail) is already done for you, so the sides should be less detailed, more soft. Since it’s further away. So as long as the cut off of the original screen is blended the rest should just be color matching. Hope this helps! Keep up the good fight
At some point Nick is going to pay this man to do every scene from the OG series and i'm all for it
Maybe if we put enough pressure on them. Someone get this to Bryke!
@doomsdayrabbit4398 the less nick (viacom) knows the better
Either that or they take his work for free.
you are just so unbelievably based for not using AI
my brother in Christ I wish I wasn't broke so I could support you
the moral dilemma is still too real for it to outweigh the outputs I can imagine

Thank you!
The fact that this man does this at all is just mind blowing.
You could have shown me your completed scene and told me it was in the original and I would have believed you. Looks fantastic.
Wow, thanks!
you know you did a pretty good job when people don't realize that it was widescreen
Your journey is truly inspiring to me. I’ve always struggled with not doing something perfectly on my first go at it, which leads to never trying new things. Same! I don't need a 16:9 version of the show, but seeing the artistry and process here is really really cool! :D
Now I want an Widescreen version for the entire cartoon/anime.
I think this is your most seamless widescreen yet.
Nice work! :) Noticed some misses:
14:31 The stick in the top left part of the roof just ends mid air.
16:59 New solider to the right is mirrored and therefore lit from the wrong side.
Wow thanks for the great feedback! I hadn't considered the lighting.
Nickelodeon needs to start paying this man.
great video😍
Ahh... Another epizode of my favorite UA-cam series
13:12 Young justice slang mentioned?!?!?!?!? 🗣WHAT IS A SATISFYING CONCLUSION??????
How in the world this doesn't have millions of views goes beyond me
this looks great as always! you forgot a few sections of the characters during one of the blur scenes but aside from that it looks near flawless! would love to see you tackle one of the good fight scenes at some point in the future, hope that doesnt sound too intimidating.
Thanks for letting me know!
If you're looking for more series to remaster, you should totally look into doing the original Teen Titans series from the early 2000s!!
Oh my god i completely expected you to use gen ai but you didnt!! this is so impressive!!!!
How does this channel not have a billion subscribers already?
Good luck on the impending huge boom in popularity this channel is hopefully teetering upon reaching.
I love this guy for doing this
It's so nice to be able to slow down and see all of these amazing frames of animation as they are
I love it. Bonzu is a legend then he just left the series really fell off after that. lol, keep it up I subscribed at the first episode and I hope you have the ability to share this with the people at Avatar Studios one day. It needs to be noticed. Great work.
Him, Wang Fire, and Melon Lord are all characters that left the show too soon
@@ChunnyKay Can’t forget Wang’s wife Sapphire Fire, Kuzon, Li, Bushi all gone but not forgotten
You can really tell how much faster and more experienced you are! Keep up the good work
Damn ! These shots reworks are all excellently done !
Kudos for all the patience it must take.
Its a good day when chunnykay posts. You're very talented.
Your skill in remastering keep getting better and better. Amazing!!
8:51 something i love abt this yt series is seeing more in avatar thru all the freeze frames… like aang kicking katara in the face
Loving how all the updated scenes are looking!
I have to give you credit for saying their names
That was probably the hardest part of making this video
I love watching these so much. You are getting better with each one as well! Keep it up! 😊
This is incredible, truly a labor of love
You're getting better and better at this each video, I'd love for something like this to become an official project
It's actually nuts how fast you're improving! Like, I can't even tell the difference anymore
It looks perfect!
YESSIR another remaster video love to see it
Underrated channel
Ooo, another video that looks absolutely awesome!!
This is so cool! I can't wait to see more
Each video looks better than the last! I'm loving the series so far. Only thing I would say is motion blurred katara looks a little out of place because i think her face is blurring in a different direction than Sokka's.
Very good point! I guess I didn't look closely enough at the end of it
@@ChunnyKay but to be fair when you played it back at speed I couldn't tell because it was so fast
This looks incredible!
rap god 0:21
this idea is genius
You are getting better at rendering each video! would love to see you try and create your own scene in the style of avatar
Bro is preparing for the biggest gaslight of all time, one of these days he's just gonna tell someone it was never a 4 by 3 ratio 😂
I love this videos
Love this series!
id pay for a full release
Commenting for the algorithm
This is wild
Awesome job again! Im hoping this leads to the whole series being expanded into 16:9 somehow. If you're looking at other series to do this, I suggest Batman The Animated Series!
amazing
Impressive.

Ooh that's a great idea! That show was my childhood
I hope you end up doing the Agni Kai fight!
I thought of a good idea for a video, make a 90s anime full screen
Have you thought about attempting a while episode? Would be really intrested to see that
I had considered it, but I think I would get burned out doing a whole episode. For now, I'm enjoying doing fun sequences in each episode
based
Man! They truly should do this officially. The aspect ratio is the biggest drawback the show has.
How so? Is it because of the black bars?
If you're looking for other shows to remaster in wide screen, I would absolutly love to see your take on Cowboy Bebop
We need this treatment for Evangelion.
1 hour gang 🎉🎉
Yo...like i know its in 3:4 but i remember it looking like this. Go to Nick with this. Ger payed bud.
This is the only thing I want for the series. No more adaptations or reinterpretations. Just this.
All the notable mistakes are in scenes that end so fast, I think you'd need 0.25x speed to notice on a whim.
What about rescaling the whole intro?? 😊
Why tf did they not hire you already to remaster the whole show? c‘mon nickelodeon!
Glad you're enjoying the series! It's definitely been a fun and less overwhelming way to get back into art imo
And no Ai 🙏🏻 god
ikr
maby try remastering initial d first season the normal stuff is great but the races kinda look a ps2 game
also has the challange of 3d movement and having to draw more stuff from rouge guide instead of straight having a part of the animation
I almost didn't watch this video because I thought it was ai slop or some other bullshit, I feel so happy to be wrong
This is extremely cool, however I dislike how much it changes the original composition. Its the same problem I had when Seinfeld and Friends were reformatted for wide screens. It completely changes the vibe, makes the world feel fake and less lively. More dead space.
I can do that with AI in seconds.

HELL YEAH I LOVED THIS SO MUCH😭😭.
