You asked: "why isnt everyone doing it?" .... for several reasons. Managers dont build teams around 1 guy nor allow the best player to hand pick his own teammates. No organization in their right minds does that except the Cavs and the Lakers when Lebron is on those teams. It would also essentially mute the coaches on those teams because the coaches offensive schemes would be ignored or scrapped to allow the point guard to play call.
Who really views signing a bunch of 3pt shooters to compensate for a drive-n-kick style player, as a surefire way to win? Apparently only Lebron. Do you not see the incredible unnecessary risks structuring a team like that poses both from a system and a personnel point of view? From a personnel point of view, if your point guard is ever injured or misses a big chunk of the season or even the playoffs, none of the players would have had the time and experience to develop into a shot maker or play maker because it had been done for them all along. Lebrons system suppresses teammates abilities. From a system execution point of view, Lebrons system is predictable and thus great defensive teams beat him consistently. 2 ways to contain Lebron: Clog the lanes, play zone, play off Lebron to let him believe he can shoot but contest his teammates 3pt shots. OR play man to man and have someone whose close in strength or size hand or elbow check him, ie. Kawhi Durant Iguadola Bowen. Lebron has no moves to create space except to push them out the way which increases the chances of him creating an offensive foul or committing a different type of turnover, which he commits ALOT of btw.
Also, your assumption that the best player on a team should have the ball in their hands for the entire 48 minutes of a game, is laughable. When is that ever ok? Jordan wasnt a ball hog in the sense Lebron is. In Phil Jacksons triangle, ball movement was promoted. Jordan was passed the ball by who was initiating the plays which was usually Scottie or Kerr or somebody else, but in most cases he was given the ball to score. The style of play you see in Golden State is an example of the similar style Jordan played with on the Bulls. Kerr as the Head Coach has incorporated a lot that he learned as a player under Phil. Their isnt 1 sole play maker and you can see players are authorized to CREATE their own shot. Whats Golden States motto??? "STRENGTH IN NUMBERS". Not strength in personal stats or strength in 1 man. Jordan played WITHIN a system, Lebron IS the system. All plays run through him. Think too of the baggage that comes with that in the media. If they win, it was because of him, if they lose, it was because of everyone else, including coaches and managers. Its pathetic. Thats why players dont want to play with him or hated it or greatly diminished their effectiveness, Bosh, Love, Irving, Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, George Hill, Rodney Hood, Rose and on and on. Lebron is the ultimate "totalitarian" for his teams. Look up that term.
