@@shawnp8076 I heard this theory, and based on the fact the dude goes to start a bat that he then later owns at the end fot the show.... from being an accountant... that's super suspect unless he was somehow embezzling.
EDIT!!! ALSO IT EXPLAINED THE FALL OF THE COMPANY FROM THE OUTSIDE IN! the fact they were the last standing branch when they clearly had no possible reason for that. It's almost obvious when you think about it wow. I'm scaring myself here

Not really the way he pronouces words is completely different from Kevin. But Kevin is a stereotype of what a dumb person speaks and acts like. So there's nothing natural about Kevin. Similar to how Michael is the stereotype of a boss who has failed up, and is completely incapable of most "management level" duties. Caricatures essentially.

Adding machine: is a class of mechanical calculator, usually specialized for bookkeeping calculations as well as using a paper roll(receipt paper) for the numbers to be typed on for record purposes
@@albertolomat9527 the most significant difference is the way you sequence the keys when doing a subtraction. Let's say you want to figure 5 + 7 - 9. On a calculator you touch exactly those keys in that order. In other words, you touch "-" BEFORE the number you want to subtract.
On an adding machine you hit "+" or "-" AFTER the number. So the key sequence would be 5 + 7 + 9 -

That’s exactly why the office was one of the funniest and greatest shows of all time. The pieces fell together so perfectly it was truly a work of art. From the actors to the writers to the directors, it was a perfect match. This was a brilliant move by the director.

I watched it all with my ex, enjoyed it. But I didn't get suuuuper into it. The scenarios are pretty jokey so its hard to concentrate seriously and have deeper connections with the characters.

@@fauxsorcier actually it’s pretty common for older people to refer to those bigger calculators that can print as an adding machine which is an real thing. Yes technically an adding machine is a calc, but not vice-versa. Their layout is different, they have buttons to add tax automatically, and they only have 2 decimal places with a permanent point.

This is why it worked so well ontop if the amazing acting. I originally watched it while it was on air and worked in an office that was a fake office. When I got a real office job I rewatched it over and over and over to make light of the misery that was my office job.

If it prints on a paper roll, it's usually called an adding machine. Plus, you do almost exclusively adding on it, since it was generally used to add receipts.

@@ddebenedictis Not necessarily. TV actors are paid per episode and their schedules are determined by the production staff. Unless you’re going over the union’s hour cap you aren’t getting over time. So because they’re getting paid the same amount regardless of the extra 30 minutes, it’s essentially unpaid and doesn’t violate any laws

The beginning of the series actually looked like it was the real deal until further down, then everything after the 3rd season it looked like a studio dressed as an office including the camera quality

Its not that it was tough or back breaking to do. It was just unnecessary. Imagine that you stocked shelves and every morning you had to take everything off of the shelves and then put them back on. While not impossible or tough to do, its still unnecessary and I guarantee that workers will complain🤷🏿🤷🏿🤷🏿
