We live in America. I pay $928 for the privilege of living around junkies, mice, and roaches in the apartment. The owners and managers won't take measures needed to get rid of all three. We would live to live in this apartment for $500 with that incredible shower. We wouldn't care about the washer/dryer in the dining area. PS: Our cat would love the balcony and windows.
A lot of windows and light coming in. It's one of the corner apartments so looks of nice views and places for a cat to sit and enjoy the view. The shower is amazing. I want one myself now!!!!!!
A benefit of having a washing machine in the dining room next to the table is that if you happen to drop a bunch of messy food all over your clothes you can rip them off and dump them in the machine without ending your meal or getting off the chair.😁

I refer to the engineered floors as ‘laminate’ floors. Really smart apart with that large lounge and tall ceilings. This spacious apartment would cost you at least $2.5-3k here! And that’s being conservative. Mind blowing. Great video!
Yes. Laminate flooring. My house is wall to wall laminate. Vacuuming is easier because all you have to do is vacuumed, but it's a bite when carpet gets dirty. Laminate cleaning? First sweep. Then wash (with very little water).
Anyone would, lol. The reason why it’s cheap is because of where it is. If you move it to where you would actually want to live in, it would be a lot more expensive!
Wow. How did you end up in Bishkek of all places? It's probably worth mentioning that this is a remote mountainous area. It looks very very quiet, birds singing, no disturbances of any kind, seems very peaceful and nice trees everywhere. From what I know this area is also fairly warm, so you might feel at home there. It is probably not as hot as Australia, but I imagine much warmer than Moscow. In UK such buildings are called "gated communities" and they are exactly the same. Have fence, gate, door entry for residents only. But in UK you would pay £5K for this. Not $500. The flat looks really spacious and with lots of light. Considering you are in a remote area, there's every possible convenience there. And seeing apricots is much nicer than a busy nasty road with car fumes which is what you'd get in cities like London :-)
It really is! I would live there in a heartbeat also. Being so close to the center of the city as well. Walking distance to stores, cafes and shopping centers. Everything is very close by.
Wow, the shower is very fancy, i have never seen anything like this before, i love it. It’s quite spacious. It is beautiful and the price in USD is fabulous... I love the security and the children. Did you have a chance to look out the window at night? It looks like the buildings around would give a beautiful night time city scape with all the lights of the city. That is such a big thing if you live in a large city in the USA, the lights from the city. Of course those of us that live in the Country, it's the quiet peacefulness, and not having a ton of city lights. This was a great video, as always! You are a pleasure to watch and your videos are always so good. The stores at the bottom of the apartments are fascinating to me. The convenience is wonderful. Thank you again for letting us tag along. I would certainly rent this as a Air B&B (I agree with the washing machine in the dining room, but, for the shower, I guess it's a good trade off. Dead goat polo. ( Kok Boru) This is the national sport. Never could have guessed that one. Living room is very big as you point out. The tiles in entry are beautiful. Tiny kitchen but these people paid attention to finishes everywhere. Really nicely done. Thanks for another great tour ( my third with you). Great stuff 👍
This is a lovely apartment and the rent is very reasonable. I love how clean and safe the city is. I live in NYC, the cost of living here is ridiculous and crime is rampant. I could live here and be very happy. Thank you for the video....xoxo
Wow! What a coincidence! I've also come to Bishkek to see my mother. Last week I enjoyed watching your great Moscow videos. Bishkek is a beautiful green city. Hope you will like it. Are you going to Lake Issyk-kul, the Kyrgyzstan pearl? It's a must-visit.
I love that apartment and for only $500 a month - where I'm at in the U.S. that would run anywhere from $1,000 a month up to about $1,800 a month depending on what part of the U.S. you're looking at.
Russell this is an elite apartment . It is the most beautiful apartment I have ever seen . In NYC rent is soo expensive & live like cockroaches, Most impressive ! Thanks for sharing ! Clothes rack.
Good sized apartment, I’ve noticed none of the apartments have a en-suite in the master bedroom, in a lot of modern built houses now in uk you can end up with two en-suite a toilet on the ground floor and a family bathroom in a four bedroom house. Knock a en-suite of for a three bedroom house. Rental for that apartment is cheap for a two bed apartment, a two bedroom new town house in West Yorkshire is £1000 pounds a month to rent.
A very lovely apartment for sure. I would rent it on a temporary basis but I would not buy it as it is now. The space is huge but it was poorly designed in my opinion. That kitchen is way too small and the washer does not belong in the dining room. There is so much room in the couch area and that could've been a little smaller to allow the kitchen more room. I do love all the windows in the couch area and I would have that filled with plants. It seems like a lovely area as well. Some you showed in Moscow seemed a little run down, or not kept up. It looked tired. It badly needed some landscaping. But here seems a little brighter, happier maybe? But I did overall like this apartment.
It is strange that the washer is in the dining room but that wouldn’t necessarily bother me. I guess it all depends on how particular you are about your home. For me as long as it’s a decent roof over my head I’m okay.
Our washing machine had to be moved to the kitchen sink to hook up the water. (Texas) When I lived on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the sixties, the bathtub was in the kitchen.
I loved the entryway floors! The whole apartment is very nice, a big surprise for $500. Do they sell the apartments too? How much for one like you showed? I am definitely considering Kyrgyzstan now.
We call those step up ceilings. $500.00- It's pretty big for that price. It's kinda unbelievable. You could always put a table cloth over the washing machine, if you are having people over. It is a nice apartment. I live in the country, in Texas, so city living is not what we do. But, I could certainly be comfortable in this place, if we lived in a city. The rent is great.
These kinds of apartments are called "Elite" opposed to soviet apartments. Usually cheaply built and often not properly maintained, as shown in this video. There are actually good apartment complexes/condos here in Bishkek, these would set you back 2-3-4 times the price of the one shown. Pretty much every newer(2000s and up) apartment building, regardless of price and quality here in Bishkek is called "Elite" for some reason.
@@edennis8578 What you said is only partially true. First, most Kyrgyzstanis own their homes/apartments. Second, the salaries in Bishkek are above contry averages (not to mention the grey economy reality of this country, meaning that a big part of peoples income isn't accounted for). Third, the rent prices are still inflated by the influx of Russians fleeing from mobilization and political stuff. Still, the place looks somewhat run-down and poorly maintained, which conflicts with the "elite" or "luxury" status people assign to this kind of property.
This apartment would be $660 CDN. Where I live there is no apartment for $660. Even if you say the building is poorly built and run down, it's still a good price. What matters is whether or not a single person or family can afford a rental with an average wage.
The owner of the apartment wanted to make a rich appearance and used fairly high quality materials, but here's the master who did the repairs themselves have failed and now it does not look as the owner wanted. 500 bucks does not sound bad, but you have to understand where it is and what the average wage there
It seems a bit odd that with all the storage around the apartment they could have made a cabinet around the washer machine to hide it. If they could hide the dishwasher they could've made steps for it too. Also as for the oddly placed furniture the living room it's pretty big, it could be broken up to make a proper office space towards the windows where the pillar sits.
Those doors looks more like a security door than just a simply sturdy door….and the double key is (or was) a standard in most countries whenever you install(ed) a security door instead of a normal one - I remember my house from when I was a teenager (over 20 years ago) having a security door with the double key. Back then security doors were quite expensive, but since today the newer ones are likely more smart-home getting a basic one with double key (if they still exist) should be not that costly anymore.
I am sure it would be ok where it was, you'd get used to it. It really was a nice place. Lots of room, and plenty of sofa's to pick from in the lounge room.
I CANNOT GET OVER THE ROOM SOMEONE WOULD HAVE IF THEY LIVED THERE!!!! ALSO LOOOOOOVE THE DETAIL IN THE CEILINGS, LIGHTING, ETC.... THE WASHER IN THE DININGROOM WOULD BOTHER ME THOUGH!!!!
Ok, you asked, I clicked. New subscriber here. 🙂 Although I could live there, it would take a lot of getting used to things. Everything is strange there to me from downtown Chicago. Not bad strange. Just different. Isn't it amazing how all parts of the world are a little, or a lot, different?
That is a Steam Shower (about $5K just for the unit in the USA) - they take a LOT of water pressure and hot water to run well. I suspect that is why they put the hot water heater up above it. (it also will have a "steam generator" as well) I am not sure why they aren't more popular in the USA given they aren't THAT expensive compared to a house.
Very, very nice! I love the curtain track in the bedroom. I would use it. This is just a lovely place. And that shower is to die for! Yes, I could live there.
You should definitely show other elite appartments in Bishkek. The flat you showed in a video is not the best one. You can clearly see this from the most beginning as light switches are not even aligned and as you notice placed on a wrong side :) Consider visiting apartments from Avangard style building company. I lived in Bishkek for 6 months and Avangard style appartments are considered to be the best in a city as far as I know.
There were a massive rent rise in a Bishkek recently as a lof of russians moved there since february and september of 2022 so now it is really rare to find a really nice 1-2 bedrooms option in a $500-$600 price range
I'm wondering how those russians are gunding themselves now and whether or when they go back to be mobilised that the property market crashes. As we say in the uk, make hay while the sun shines and put a lot away for a (the) rainy day when everything crashes again.
I like the marble flooring and the ornate ceilings. I do think the apartment was poorly designed, and does seem dated. The play areas and outdoor surroundings are lovely.
Wow, Russell is in Kyrgyzstan. Hope you enjoy your stay there. I was born and raised in Frunze (now Bishkek). Funny to see commentors believe it's Russia. Another proof of terrible geographic illiteracy in western countries.😂
Wow!!!! $500. Great for my wife and I. I’m retired. I pay $1200 a month for nothing special in Florida. No dryer. What a shame. Russell, you would make a fortune if you could import stackable washer and dryer units. And it would fit where you have the washer. Or import a washer/dryer in a single unit. The stackables are popular in the US. The single units are popular in England.
I am in absolute shock! Such a beautiful and spacious apartment and for the price.... incredible! I'm in Orange county California. You can't rent a closet for $500. I would totally live there.
@@utahdan231 Looks like you can walk the squeaky clean streets of Bishkek without getting mugged, raped, or stepping in human feces. How much is that worth?
5:22 - This is actually, one of the most aesthetically pleasing complexes that you've shown so far. Personally, I feel that around, ten stories/floors is more than enough for any apartment complex. I would not feel secure about being 20 floors up in any place actually, including an apartment complex.
From Australia. We do not call that a balcony at all, but rather a small junk room, giving the whole apartment the feel of a dog box. However, I totally love the dated shower/steam/spar, standing and sitting cubicle. I am a retired cabinetmaker and have a soft spot for fully built furniture rather than European stylish but poor-quality, Chinese-made flatpack crap, like hear in Adelaide. We would consider ourselves if anything to be poor to middle-class. We have at times enjoyed apartment living in Melbourne and Adelaide CBD,s.
Great tour, Russell! Loved the bath and built in cabinets. The column in the living room is odd. That room needs to be an open space. The washing machine in the dining room is different, but easily solved. There should be a second bath with room for a washing machine. While we’re at it, why aren’t there dryers? The kitchen is cute, but I agree that it’s too small. I’m in the US. Nice video.

How cool is it to learn English with Russell!!! Many thanks 👍
Thanks! 😃
Love your channel and this video! Those "sunken" ceilings, here in the U.S. we call a "coffered" ceiling...this unit is so nice, so much space to work with! Love your tours - love seeing these areas of the world I would not otherwise see❤Thank you!
Thanks for the info! I've never seen ceiling like this in Australia before coming to Russia, and now Kyrgyzstan.
Where have you seen them?
Tray Ceilings also!
Tray ceilings in realty estate business.
I would certainly rent this as a Air B&B
(I agree with the washing machine in the dining room, but, for the shower, I guess it's a good trade off. I would definitely want a bigger kitchen.. but this is beautiful!!
Be blessed my friend
That bathroom is amazing! 💞
I love the shower !!!!!!!
I would absolutely live in this apartment. I think it’s really nice. May not be my style but I think it’s totally livable.
I totally agree! A bit of re decorating might be in order.
I'm from the USA Russell and I am interested in the way other countries live, how much they pay to buy or rent, I happened to come across your channel I like the way you do the videos of the apartments and the grocery stores and shops! Keep up the good work
Stunning bathroom....surrounded by astounding weirdness.
Thats what i was thinking, but for the price, you can put up with some of it, i think,
Very interesting. The washing machine wouldn't worry me, but I'd prefer a bigger kitchen.
I was thinking the same. A bigger kitchen for sure.
@Traveling With Russell … Hi from South Central Idaho, USA! Where is home Russell… ??? TY for the wonderful look at new and curious places! So fun to watch and learn! Love the channel ❤
Judging by his accent, he's an educated Australian.

Dead goat polo. ( Kok Boru) This is the national sport. Never could have guessed that one.
This apartment is really quite nice and yes I agree that the switches should be on the other side of bathroom door. It is odd they put the washer where they did but I suppose there is no other spot with that Goliath shower. Great price! and all those finishes are pretty nice. I think it’s really lovely. Living room is very big as you point out. The tiles in entry are beautiful. Tiny kitchen but these people paid attention to finishes everywhere. Really nicely done. Thanks for another great tour ( my third with you).
Great stuff 👍
Russell, those are called "recessed lighting or recessed ceilings", beautiful apartment!
Thanks, not i think about it, maybe that's the name for them in Australia also.
For sure I would live there! Very nice!
This is a lovely apartment and the rent is very reasonable. I love how clean and safe the city is. I live in NYC, the cost of living here is ridiculous and crime is rampant. I could live here and be very happy. Thank you for the video....xoxo
OMG. 😢
Remember your salary would be about $250 a month. The average there.
@@paulj2948 Oh no, that's not good...lol.
I cracked up seeing the living room washing machine 😂 and the router on top. 😅
😁 Very handy, you can do your washing and have dinner at the same time.
I have seen the same set up in apartments in the West , not unusual trying to utilize space .

Bishkek doesn’t have anything to offer for tourists. The best thing in Bishkek is a mountain view.
Having the wash machine in the dining area is a good trade off for having that marvelous shower area. It’s a really lovely apartment!
This is really nice. Huge, beautiful wood work!! Very spacious! Love the private playground
I love that apartment and for only $500 a month - where I'm at in the U.S. that would run anywhere from $1,000 a month up to about $1,800 a month depending on what part of the U.S. you're looking at.
Not in California. It would be much, much more expensive !!!
Russell this is an elite apartment . It is the most beautiful apartment I have ever seen . In NYC rent is soo expensive & live like cockroaches, Most impressive ! Thanks for sharing ! Clothes rack.
А киргизы хорошо живут однако. больше видео, прямо радует это все, что у Киргизов есть там много всего, это важно.

Very nice apartment!
Thanks for another great video you are awesome
I love this video! Thank you for sharing!
It is strange that the washer is in the dining room but that wouldn’t necessarily bother me. I guess it all depends on how particular you are about your home. For me as long as it’s a decent roof over my head I’m okay.
I once rented a house that had the washer, drier, and hot water heater in a closet behind double doors in the dining room.
Our washing machine had to be moved to the kitchen sink to hook up the water. (Texas)
When I lived on the Lower East Side of Manhattan in the sixties, the bathtub was in the kitchen.
I liked the apartment 😊. Show us the city.
The apt.buildings and properties are so clean and safe. It's a different story in major US cities.
I loved the entryway floors! The whole apartment is very nice, a big surprise for $500. Do they sell the apartments too? How much for one like you showed? I am definitely considering Kyrgyzstan now.
What took you to Kyrgyzstan? And why did you get such a large apartment just for yourself? Nice video.
Obviously the price per day, plus to show us a video of it. It is called travelling with Russell after all. I for one appreciate what he uploads.
An income for Kyrgyz people is great too , around $2,5K in a year if one makes this much.
hello Russell 🎉🎉
Good morning!
@@TravellingwithRussell the place is looking great,
These kinds of apartments are called "Elite" opposed to soviet apartments.
Sounds like elite is used as luxury is used in other counties. Maybe something that loses in the translation.
The average salary in Kyrgyzstan is $358/month USD. At $500/month, this apartment is far beyond the means of the average person.
@edennis8578 Liberals are the same all over the world and complain all the time.
Wall paper must be a thing there. It’s becoming more popular again in USA. My friends apt in Finland has all her plumbing in bathroom exposed.
Russell, welcome to Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬
13:38 lol, I mentioned the 3 irons in that other flat. Thanks for the shout out and for reading the comments !
No worries. I read as many as i can. I have way too many to try and keep up with the replies though.
The owner of the apartment wanted to make a rich appearance and used fairly high quality materials, but here's the master who did the repairs themselves have failed and now it does not look as the owner wanted. 500 bucks does not sound bad, but you have to understand where it is and what the average wage there
Вот это неожиданно! Очень интересно куда занесёт Рассела в следующий раз :))))))
Спасибо. Я очень активен в своей группе телеграмм с большим количеством ежедневных обновлений того, что я получаю. t.me/travellingwithrussell
The biggest must-see thing in Kyrgyzstan is Issyk-Kul lake
And the biggest thing to avoid is ISIS cells 🤠
I was at the lake 2 days ago. Amazing place, and i went for a swim as well.
@@TravellingwithRussell
Did you see black thorium sand there?
I believe that type of ceiling with the indented middle is called a tray ceiling.
It looks like a beautiful place to live . 🌸
I really enjoy seeing the world with Russell. its so interesting to see how life is in different countries. Thanks, its a real learning experience.
An apartment this size in New York City would run you about 5000.00 USD a month. Amazing
It will be more

yes, I could live there, especially for the money. I don't mine the washing machine in the dining room. really nice.
I am sure it would be ok where it was, you'd get used to it. It really was a nice place. Lots of room, and plenty of sofa's to pick from in the lounge room.

Ty for the tour and hello from Long Island NY.
Hello there. Thanks for watching :)))
(it also will have a "steam generator" as well)
I am not sure why they aren't more popular in the USA given they aren't THAT expensive compared to a house.
I'd happily paid $500 less to not have perfectly aligned switches ! lol
If that apartment was in Manhattan, it would cost at least $4,000.00/month.
Such a deal!
Wow!!!!
You better go to some country in EU,you will live pretty comfortable with your pension and you will even save some money
I am in absolute shock! Such a beautiful and spacious apartment and for the price.... incredible! I'm in Orange county California. You can't rent a closet for $500. I would totally live there.
With California money or $225 monthly salary in Bishkek?
@@utahdan231 Looks like you can walk the squeaky clean streets of Bishkek without getting mugged, raped, or stepping in human feces. How much is that worth?
My wife and I paid over $2.000 a month for something nowhere near as big in Pheonix Arizona.
Nice apartment. I think the kitchen is cozy. It has everything needed to cook.
For $500 a month? Hey, I could very easily live in this apartment, no problem!
Nice video.
