Lead extenders! +1
Self-check user, should be pre-installed. Especially important on an aluminum boat to have testing and monitoring installed.
I do have panel-component type split sensor-displays for when clamp on meters are not practical.
Useful Jeff.
Are alligator clips or banana plugs recommended for the retractable test leads? The pics looks like alligator clips, but not sure.
If you lose your shore power ground then all of your outlets would not be grounded. As a simple test could you use an outlet plug tester to check them? Thanks Jeff.
Same thing happened to me… first clamp-on meter was just for AC.. felt so dumb…😂
Wow now i still dont know what a galvanic isolator is and what it does. Just that they can sease shut with no moving parts? This was pointless.
An interesting article in the Log, a boating newspaper in California. Had to do with surveyors. Why hasn't the industry come up with a licensing protocol? I don't mean ABYC, SAMS, or NAMS. In the end of the survey paper, it will always state that the surveyor is not liable for what he just put down on paper. Lol!
You just paid a person a nice sum to tell you they are not backing up what they say.
So this whole video is dedicated to galvanic isolators, but then 2 minutes in Nigel Calder does not want to discuss one of the primary issues surrounding them - much to the horror of Jeff. I give you points for trying to get the discussion back on track Jeff, but it would have been better for your channel if you had canned this episode with Nigel and re-shot it with another tech who actually wanted to share his knowledge. Was very disappointing to watch.
