Actually, fun fact: the Surfing Monkey PSA was inspired by something the producer's friend did. He and his wife got high and ended up ordering a couple things from QVC -- a Star Trek collector's plate, a Chi-Wash-Wa home car-washing system and a pewter statuette in the shape of Michael Jordan. Spent $400 on it all. When the producer, Greg Collins, made the PSA, they had to trim it down to one item to fit a 30-second commercial spot, so his friend settled on a coin bank in the shape of a surfing monkey because it was just so ridiculous. $300 was spent on shooting the PSA and it was sold to the Partnership to End Addiction, or the Partnership for a Drug-Free America as it was called back then. The rest is history, as they say.
Yeah I don't get why this would make me not want to do drugs, like ha ha I bought like 15 Silly Monkey Piggy Banks, just seems like maybe I should just avoid QVC while I'm high
the irony is this is condoning weed amongst other things, and a lot of countries legalized weed because there is just no point of criminilizing something safer than alcohol, a legal substance.
It's history time Chad! One of the creators of Chuck E Cheese pizza, Robert Brock, wasn't happy with how the company was growing and evolving so he was let go/left the company and formed his own, ShowBiz Pizza. His goal was to regularly evolve and grow and evolve the companies' technology as it grew. Show Biz grew so large and influential, that by 1984 Chuck E Cheese was filing for bankruptcy, so Show Biz immediately bought them and merged the two companies. By 1989 the company went public, and complexity of the animatronic characters became too expensive to maintain. They wanted to find a way to replace them with a cheaper alternative. The first thing they did was fire the creator of the animatronics. who unfortunately held the rights to the ShowBiz "Rock-afire Explosion" character, and took them with him when he left. Because of this, they were forced to replace all the characters and rebrand every ShowBiz into Chuck E Cheese by 1992. Which is why we only have Chuck E Cheese now a days. I remember having ShowBiz growing up, it was quite the spectical and never knew why it was forced to change to Chuck E Cheese.

There is actually one Rock-Afire Explosion location I know that is still active, under the name "Billy Bob's Wonderland," which is the bear seen in the commercial here. I've actually never been to a Chuck-E-Cheese before because this is only one of these pizzaria places around.

@@rosykindbunny1313 thank ya, thank ya! hope you're having a super swell day.
@@H-Nine I am! Hope you are too!
The Gushers sweepstakes was actually real, I'm enough of a relic to have seen it live.
11:30
God, I hated the shows this commercial was referencing.
What shows, Breadwinners?
@@BirdDuck that's what I was thinking, I even thought so in 2014
Well, at least the cereal mascots weren't tweaking every 5 seconds like the breadwinners...
@@Billiebustupfan1212 they do be tweakin'
Yeah, remember that commercial. It seemed every kids' product was advertising sweeptakes.
The Showbiz pizza featured in that commercial is literally 5 minutes from my house.
Looking at where the replays are, I'm glad it doesn't look like I'm the only one that replayed 9:20 multiple times because that dog is kind of killing it. It legit made me look up the whole song and I genuinely love it
@kayz9 The original is Heartaches by Al Bowlly in 1931(?). The one here is definitely a remix/cover of it and not the original, but the original was definitely the one sampled for EATEOT. I didn't realize until 2 weeks later that they even lined up though. This one sounds the most different for sure but I do really like it
The fruit head fruit gushers commercials used to freak me out as a kid and I actually stayed away from eating fruit gushers out of fear that my head would actually turn into a watermelon 🍉
8:18 I also don’t remember the part where Lorax and pipsqueak goes to IHOP in the movie
7:29 I knew there would be a hoot wireless edit somewhere in this episode
the showbiz pizza bear mascot has a movie called the hug and its on hulu.
Me: Can I buy a costume?
The costume at home: 16:35
Those are Lazytown characters but from before it was a show. The designs are very different from how they later appeared in the show.
Yes!! The characters were Jives and the early versions of Ziggy and sportacus :)
@Spamton and Pauline Fan Est 2003maybe was canceled beacuse the motive of his lazyness was similar to Ziggy
Their names are Siggi, Maggi and íþróttaálfurinn. Pls don’t use the English names when referring to play characters.
@@fritzy8318 oh okay sorry (I kinda forgot them beacuse I'm no longer in the Fandom lol)
Thanks for keeping this series going Chad. I love it.
I love Buondì. I raccomend them they actually taste pretty good despite most of their ads being chaotic.
Good to see you're armed and ready against curse.
11:42 start of the best part of this video. Thanks editor Chad!
Since my TV spontaneously shut itself off three times while watching this, yes, this video is cursed
9:31 that pizza look absolutely incredible
Man I know this is cursed commericals but that breakfast cereal commercial trying to be cool and wacky murdered me with cringe. Keep up the fun series!
I love how all the Undertale and Deltarune profile pics are meeting here. I'm here to continue that.
6:00- I actually vaguely remember that sweepstakes commercial when it aired.
I’m a huge fan of obscure children’s shows/other types of media :)
same !! :0
@@wubboxloid especially the really obscure ones like Lomax The Hound Of Music! (a 2008 pbs kids puppet series about a dog named Lomax, his cat friend Delta, their owner Amy and a train called the melody hound!)
@@ShockwaveFurbyOfficial that soundz interesting! i might check it out! :0 i love obscure kidz media that no one really knowz. :D
@@wubboxloid unfortunately there isn’t much content about it online and the third episode is lost media, the rest of the episodes are on yt for free tho :) (they only made one season of it)
@@ShockwaveFurbyOfficial ohh, well, i will check out what still exists of it then !!
showbiz pizza was actually in competition with chuckie cheeses and then they were bought out by them.
1:25- (record scratches while “Baba O’Reily” by The Who- AKA the CSI: New York theme song- starts playing) “You may be wondering how I got into this situation…”
9:39 great job voiceovering it
🤣🤣🤣
Considering the smogulous smoke output from this cars, they are most certainly not truffula friendly. The PR people are lying.
Yup, exactly.
It's ironic because the movie itself literally warns people to NOT listen to this EXACT type of ads. 😑
10:47 cereal commercial in Breadwinners style
internet, do your thing.
The cereal commercial actually had a lot of notable voice actors like Tom Kenny And Jeremy Shada
1:55 did anyone else see the epic trick shot?
The people in the anti drug commercial sound like a dollar store beavis and butthead
15:51 If drugs can make me enjoy something as stupid and simple as a surfing monkey coin bank as much as these guys did, then sign me the hell up. This is proof the world needs to do more drugs.
I think the point was the drugs leaving you so insensate that you buy random stuff without knowing it and waste your money. Kind of like a toddler getting hold of a phone and buying 31 hamburgers. It IS pretty hilarious, though.
12:02 Like I’m going to recommend a place that doesn’t know that britches are a type of trousers.😂
The first commercial is actually for icelandic vegetables
And your actually right, it is from lazytown
It features ziggy, sportacus and jives (who didn’t make it into the show)
*Siggi, Maggi, Íþróttaálfurinn
They’re from the PLAYS not the show.
yeah, what the other commentor said. it uses puppets of the characters from the original plays that inspired the show. ^_^
Hell yeah ! I've been waiting for this!
4:29 that guy has the hands of a sonic character
honestly only just discovered this channel last night but i'm really enjoying these cursed commericals, i've already recommended your channel to my friends :)
Its nice to see that the alternate timeline chadtronic who didnt get sent to the castle got the same sponsor.
Grandma at 12:06 reminds me of what I’d Imagine John Cena would look like if he was visable
