  • The brown noise in this video features a profound boost from 0 to 160 Hz, enriching the lower frequencies for a deep sonic experience. It smoothly transitions to baseline at 230 Hz, remains flat at 10 kHz, and then significantly reduces higher frequencies up to 24 kHz, creating a tranquil, soothing soundscape. Brown noise can help you relax and get some sleep, and may alleviate the effects of tinnitus. Enjoy, and rest well.

    Fun fact: brown noise is often called Brownian noise because it is named after Scottish botanist Robert Brown, not the color brown. It can also be called red noise.

    ⚠️ 𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗔𝗡 𝗔𝗗 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗗𝗗𝗟𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢?
    If so, I'm sorry that happened. I know it's awful to be startled by a mid-roll ad. I have them disabled on all of my content, but UA-cam has a confirmed bug that causes them to play for some viewers anyway. It's not just my channel - this has been a problem across the entire platform since at least mid-2022. UA-cam's engineers know about the bug and what causes it to happen, but unfortunately, they have not provided any information about when (or if) they will fix it.
    The bug tends to manifest as a 30-second mid-roll ad played around the 6-hour mark, and it disproportionately affects iPhone and iPad users. I have been investigating this for a very long time, and I go into more detail about my findings here: ua-cam.com/video/ndeUVgZMh1Y/v-deo.html
    If you are affected by the bug but still want to access my content, I recommend that you view this video's description and try one of the alternatives I have provided, such as Spotify or Rumble. If you want to stay on UA-cam, you'll find that I have live stream versions of my most popular content, and they tend to be safe from the bug - but not always.
    The only guaranteed way to never get ads on UA-cam is to subscribe to UA-cam Premium, which I understand is not an option for everyone. As it turns out, the reason I have the luxury of disabling ads everywhere UA-cam will let me is because my channel makes the vast majority of its revenue from UA-cam Premium. I have reviewed my analytics data and it appears that UA-cam does not compensate me for the mid-roll ads in question, which I suspect is because their systems cannot reconcile the fact that a mid-roll ad played even though I have them disabled.
    You are welcome to reply to this comment with information about what happened to you, but at this point, we have a pretty solid understanding of what's going on and are just hoping it will be fixed. Historically, it helped when viewers would list what type of device they were on, which app or browser was being used, the approximate timestamp of when the ad played, and what company/product/service the ad was for.
    I appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter, and I'm sorry there isn't more I can do.

      @@DJGrossmanoh! i was hoping for something thats purely or as close as possible to frequencies on the lower end/lower mids. this is the closest to it but there are still higher frequencies present, which i presume is what helps create the presence of “noise” in brown noise
      edit: sorry, the closest one to it is your bass boosted one!

      @DJGrossman  2 місяці тому +1

      @@yachisan You're right. Brown noise does tend to have more lower frequencies, but there's still a little going on in the highs. I could create completely custom noises that have nothing to do with colors of noise... might not be a bad idea. 😉 Huge backlog right now, so I don't want to make a promise I can't keep!

    I love that you just use a black screen with these. I know it's mostly for people who are trying to sleep, but most other videos like this all have some colorful video playing the whole time and it ends up being distracting, like who doesn't want to stare at a colorful swirly brain video instead of doing their work?? but for real, thank you for making these! Brown noise is the only thing I can listen to that actually feels like it helps focus my adhd brain while I try and get my assignments done so when people like you take the videos seriously and put effort into it, it means a lot. 🙌

    • @DJGrossman
      @DJGrossman  2 місяці тому

      I totally get it! I made my first one of these with a black screen for that exact reason: it was to help someone sleep, and I had to make it play in a room where the only speakers were phones, tablets, and a smart TV... what to do, what to do? 🤔 Now, that said, I am looking into creating visuals to go with some of these, but I'll always put out black screen versions, too. 😄 I'm very happy to hear that this has helped you with your studies! Very cool! 💯

    I can barely hear this, with the volume nearly all the way up! (On an iPad.) I don’t understand why the audio is so low on this video! I had to give up on it. . .
    I’m terrified of turning the volume up all the way, due to bad experiences with ADs exploding into my sleeping ears-not with your videos, but others I’ve long used to get to sleep-both ASMR and more recently, Brown Noise videos by Jason Lewis.
    You are the ONLY content creator I’ve found who takes the AD problem seriously! Shame on UA-cam, for allowing GREED to destroy the one safe and effective way I’ve had to fight the Insomnia that goes with being neurologically divergent!! My shattered nerves really need soothing, in order to fall asleep, but knowing that an ad can intrude at any time makes relaxing/getting to sleep impossible! I so appreciate your efforts to keep the (expletive) ads out of your content, which sounds quite frustrating for you! No way will I EVER pay for UA-cam’s “Premium” scam, which for me is a matter of principle.
    Sorry about the length of this, and thanks for your time.

      I suspect that you can barely hear this audio because it has most of its power in the lower frequencies, which often are not faithfully played in many sound systems. You would either need to try another audio output device, or simply turn up the volume.
      However, since you are understandably nervous about turning up the volume due to previous experiences, you may instead wish to read the video's description and try one of the alternative platforms where I've posted this audio.
      The mid-roll ad problem is, as you have noted, extremely frustrating. As a creator, I hate (and yes, I do mean hate) how each morning, I have to sift through comments from people complaining that I'm a liar because they got ads in the middle of the night. It is, without a doubt, the worst part of my experience as a UA-camr. I have been trying for SO LONG to get UA-cam to fix it, but frankly I don't believe that they will. Simply put, they have no incentive to.
      I hear you on not wanting to get UA-cam Premium on principle, but I would propose that you reconsider if only because it really does support the creators whose content you watch. I've disabled ads everywhere that I can, which would under normal circumstances mean my channel generates no revenue (and I would be stuck working a 9-5 instead of creating content fulltime); but instead, because of UA-cam Premium, I'm actually able to make a living from my work here. I'm sure it's the same for many other creators, as well. Just something to think about.
